Short Seminar, Less Questions – But Good Answers

by | Aug 25, 2011

[Aug 21, 2011 8:00:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive What’s up guys, have a good weekend?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:00:51 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive Nice, you guys are lively tonight

[Aug 21, 2011 8:00:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive guess it’ll be as quick as the questions that came in

[Aug 21, 2011 8:01:16 PM EDT]   koogar  🙂 evening

[Aug 21, 2011 8:01:39 PM EDT]   rude1    hi

[Aug 21, 2011 8:01:41 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive First and foremost – I’m sure lots of new members first times here

[Aug 21, 2011 8:01:51 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive we have Q and A everyone who sent in questions and then we open it up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:07 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I would strongly recco new members becoming familiar with the new member page and ask me if questions or Laura or Mud

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:09 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive we’re always here to help

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:18 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if you try to trade the chat without looking, you’ll be lost

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive So I’ll go thru what I received and then we’ll go from there

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:35 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: You posted a screenshot of a thick and thin L2 this past week. Could you please go over what makes them thick and thin?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:02:50 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I’ve gone over before with BORK – but it’s related to the gaps on the level 2 .. rather than 2 market makers every .002 or so … it may thin up to .32 .35 .40 .40 .40 vs. .32 .32 .33 .33 .335 .37 .37 .40

[Aug 21, 2011 8:03:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/MSOCYPFLTX.png

[Aug 21, 2011 8:03:05 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/FWYHFVGHXF.png

[Aug 21, 2011 8:03:29 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive SRCH is two different days but the reason I’m showing SRCH is because I took a screen shot of it in chat when I said it was thinning up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:03:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive price doesn’t matter you can get the idea of it – SRCH is the MSOCYPFLTX.png one

[Aug 21, 2011 8:04:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive when I say thinning up I refer to the gap between prices

[Aug 21, 2011 8:04:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you can see on the offer on the left .531 .54 .58 .58 .59 .59 .60 etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:04:41 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive whereas on the right side, if the .80s were to fall let’s just say one .80 is left

[Aug 21, 2011 8:04:54 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive then it goes .80 .90 .95s

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:09 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so I refer to the gap forming rather than a ton of offers

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive on level 2

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and with that said many times things tend to speed up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive which is when I always suggest locking in some gains any time we have an inch inch breakout

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:39 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive THIS IS ON OTCS ONLY

[Aug 21, 2011 8:05:48 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I don’t refer to any of that stuff when talking Nasdaq

[Aug 21, 2011 8:06:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive LGFTY

[Aug 21, 2011 8:06:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/FWYHFVGHXF.png

[Aug 21, 2011 8:06:32 PM EDT]   mtrading08         so is it correct to assume that a thinning buy side can lead to panic sells and a thinning sell side can lead to a pop/parabolic?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:06:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and/or where I would aim to sell between the gap into a parabolic

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and/or where I’d aim to snag on a panic

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:23 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive thinning on level 2 plus downside price action and volume yes

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:32 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive thinning on level 2 and upside price action with volume, yes

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive an example I showed a long time ago when we covered was BORK

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:58 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/838/bork.png

[Aug 21, 2011 8:07:59 PM EDT]   mtrading08         gotcha

[Aug 21, 2011 8:08:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive this was same time frame

[Aug 21, 2011 8:08:40 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive 4 MMs before $5 vs 2 MMs before $5

[Aug 21, 2011 8:08:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive now obviously not going to go straight to $5 etc … just the fact that it thinned right out

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:01 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so that’s that – … -war- u good?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:10 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive was ur question, answer it or have more questions?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:11 PM EDT]   -war-     10-4

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive good? ::up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:26 PM EDT]   -war-     ::up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: How do you trade markets when they’re this volatile? Lower position size? How do you find targets where you would like to buy/sell?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:40 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive You can trade the markets the same way, you just need to REALLY focus on your rules. If you don’t you’ll be outta the game as fast as you came in.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:53 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive the main thing here is .. if you don’t follow your rules when markets of volatile

[Aug 21, 2011 8:09:58 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you can lose your shirt

[Aug 21, 2011 8:10:20 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you saw on VHC when I was playing full size, or really double size

[Aug 21, 2011 8:10:22 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and a crazy market

[Aug 21, 2011 8:10:27 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive where I shouldn’t have … lost my shirt

[Aug 21, 2011 8:10:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive the thing about the way I/we trade – whether market is crazy or not…

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I trade relative to the price action

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:16 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so if the stock has a huge range, I’m taking that range into consideration

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:24 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive when picking an entry size

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:28 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and risk

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:39 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so everyone always PMs and says “what % should I put in a play”

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:43 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive “what $$$ amount do you put in a play”

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:44 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:11:53 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I don’t pay attention to $, I trade based off the action

[Aug 21, 2011 8:12:18 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if the range flipping aroiund and my risk looks to be .50 cents I’ll be in started 500 shares and add in to 1k shares or so once I’m right

[Aug 21, 2011 8:12:28 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if I think it’s .30 cents I’ll be in 1-2k shares and add in on confirm

[Aug 21, 2011 8:12:29 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:12:58 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I usually try to put around a $500 ish risk max – but depending on day/week and how its going

[Aug 21, 2011 8:13:06 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that could be $300 $1k or $2k

[Aug 21, 2011 8:13:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive all relative, just like when I first started the site I tried to keep everything around $200

[Aug 21, 2011 8:13:28 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if you go back to first seminars – you’ll see I mold as a trader

[Aug 21, 2011 8:13:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive always learning always changing

[Aug 21, 2011 8:13:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive questions>

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:17 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive point here is – in volatile times there is more range, so trade accordingly

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:29 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive stick to your rules, if you went in because you thought it was going to pop, and it didn’t….

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and it’s slowly fading…

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive BE WRONG

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive good traders take losses

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:53 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that’s what keeps them in the game, because they are just losses

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive not blow ups

[Aug 21, 2011 8:14:57 PM EDT]   wanabe                I’m new, is there sound during the trading day

[Aug 21, 2011 8:15:27 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive no

[Aug 21, 2011 8:15:41 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive again guys – as I said to start please keep on topic for sake of chat logs for others will open up at end

[Aug 21, 2011 8:15:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive WB151- ::up? any other questions on that one?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:16:13 PM EDT]   WB151  What do you say to someone that takes small losses that can add up to -200 on the day and the second they get 200 in gains they take it just to get back to even?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:16:33 PM EDT]   WB151  It’s the never ending cycle of running in place but never gaining ground to grow your account

[Aug 21, 2011 8:16:56 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive up to you, if the trade is working, let it work

[Aug 21, 2011 8:17:01 PM EDT]   WB151  I only do this when I’m in 1-3k shares because I’m scared of a loss around 500

[Aug 21, 2011 8:17:05 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you can always shave some off and let the rest go

[Aug 21, 2011 8:17:11 PM EDT]   WB151  yes

[Aug 21, 2011 8:17:25 PM EDT]   WB151  I dont feel any emotion when trading under 500 shares

[Aug 21, 2011 8:17:39 PM EDT]   WB151  should I keep it to that for awhile to regain confidence in my calls?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you should trade relative to the trade

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I mean 500 shares can be a lot or a little

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:15 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive depending on the stock

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:21 PM EDT]   WB151  right

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:26 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so, if you’re down and just trade better being even sure

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:29 PM EDT]   WB151  500 on CLWR wont yield much

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:32 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive take even and then focus on the next play

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:40 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive or, let it ride if its working

[Aug 21, 2011 8:18:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I’m more of a take it and run trader

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:00 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I look for the trade set up, I’m right (hopefully) and take the money

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:05 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive let some ride

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:11 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive otherwise I’m wrong, and I take it off

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:18 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive any other questions on this topic?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:28 PM EDT]   WB151  thanks Nate

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:38 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: How is OTC/Pinksheet market correlated to the general market? If market is down big today/recently, should I be very cautious even if I only trade OTC/Pinksheet stocks?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:19:44 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive They are hardly correlated, OTC is on fire and then cold .. it comes and goes .. but if the question is related to a 600 point drop going to take down the entire OTC market? The answer is no, that’s why in the suggested seminars I go over how I’d over night those whereas I wouldn’t over night Nasdaq’s just because you never know – gap down on markets could spoil a perfect breakout chart.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:20:22 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive the difference is, in a market like right now – you prob won’t see as many hard mailers going out because its just return on their $$ for pumpers

[Aug 21, 2011 8:20:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive are they going to commit $1-2m + to send hard mail out

[Aug 21, 2011 8:20:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive when they may not see it back, probably not

[Aug 21, 2011 8:21:00 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but the rest … will always be around

[Aug 21, 2011 8:21:20 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if OTCs are slow .. usually 1-2 plays get a lot of love

[Aug 21, 2011 8:21:24 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive vs. 10 + on a good day

[Aug 21, 2011 8:21:37 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive Any questions on that subject?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:22:18 PM EDT]   sbbi98   so you mean when the market is down, OTC is just slow, but i do not need to be short biased necessarily on OTC

[Aug 21, 2011 8:22:32 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive it may be slow

[Aug 21, 2011 8:22:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive it may not

[Aug 21, 2011 8:22:51 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive what I mean is, no … just because the market is up 1000 points doesnt mean OTCs will be hot

[Aug 21, 2011 8:23:01 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive just because its down 600 points doesnt mean they won’t be hot

[Aug 21, 2011 8:23:07 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive they come and go on their own, non-correlated

[Aug 21, 2011 8:23:13 PM EDT]   sbbi98   ok thx

[Aug 21, 2011 8:23:51 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: Many times you seem to pick bottoms or tops very accurately. How do you do that? What are the signs that you’re looking for in the chart and L2?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:23:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I look for a washout after a slow and steady sell off. I try not to buy slow steady grinding down charts because usually there is no bottom until they hit a point and they just washout like mad. I want to buy into that panic just like I like to short parabolics. That’s it, Level 2 not so much – just volume and price action that I’m familiar with as I watch it on the chart.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:24:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive any questions related to this?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:25:29 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive this question was more related to CRM I think, also next questions is too

[Aug 21, 2011 8:25:36 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but I look for same stuff – Nasdaq or OTCs

[Aug 21, 2011 8:25:43 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but I use L2 more so on OTCs than anything on Nasdaq

[Aug 21, 2011 8:25:53 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and no there isn’t a answer “what do u look for on Level 2 on OTCs”

[Aug 21, 2011 8:25:59 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive over time you’ll get it as you see it over and over

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:02 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive just like I did

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:11 PM EDT]   TheDean              (1) do you buy stock all at once or in chunks?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:11 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive it’s more of a thing you learn by seeing time and time again

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I always scale in

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:21 PM EDT]   TheDean              when trading bottoms

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:40 PM EDT]   TheDean              On the way down, on the way up during rebound, or both?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:49 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive scale in and scale out

[Aug 21, 2011 8:26:51 PM EDT]   rude1    i stopped watching level 2 and have been doing fine….. is that ok?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:27:23 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you use what your comfortable with

[Aug 21, 2011 8:27:32 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive some don’t use charts at all

[Aug 21, 2011 8:27:40 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive during day

[Aug 21, 2011 8:27:47 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive ** cough ** Mud *** cough ***

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:11 PM EDT]   tradernyc            lol

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:13 PM EDT]   tputs001              Your mental stop would just be the LOD is that correct?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:39 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive no

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:45 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that usually is LOD

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so if you stop LOD you’d be selling same price

[Aug 21, 2011 8:28:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive might want to re-test

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:08 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive like LBAS for example the other day we nailed bottom

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive out of the open after it hit 1.30

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:15 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive gapped down and washout out

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:28 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive nailed it to a T …. rebounded … sell some into first pop, give the rest a chance

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:37 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive either rebounds more or doesn’t … sell rest

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if you hold that other portion, than you can use a stop at LOD sure

[Aug 21, 2011 8:29:58 PM EDT]   sbbi98   in a panic sell (mad washout) how do you pick the bottom?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:03 PM EDT]   tputs001              THank you!

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:10 PM EDT]   mtrading08         On the subject of LvL 2, as beginners should we even pay much attention to the volume on LvL 2? What with the hidden buys and sell quantities

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:35 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive sbbi98 – more and more you do it, more of a feel you’ll get for it – no one answer

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:42 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive get on the other side of the emotions

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive sense the panic

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:30:51 PM EDT]   Dan000 my L2 usually shows only 1 line for bid/ask, am i looking at the wrong thing or just %%%%%% software?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:26 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive mtrader08 – u can .. I always used it and had it as I learned how to trade

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:36 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so it’s part of what I do, whether I look at it or not … it’s there

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:50 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive Dan – you just have a sh*tty Level 2 that’s all

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:56 PM EDT]   Dan000 k

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive look at InvestorsLive.com during trading hours

[Aug 21, 2011 8:31:59 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive to see what ur missing

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:05 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive u prob have the Thinkorswim trash they give

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:05 PM EDT]   tradernyc            he prolly doesnt have pink L2

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:19 PM EDT]   Dan000 ya trash

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:22 PM EDT]   -war-     Dan, Das Pro with speedtrader…

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:25 PM EDT]   -war-     get it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:32 PM EDT]   rude1    its free

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:35 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive during trading day

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:39 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive u can see what ur missing

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:43 PM EDT]   Dan000 k

[Aug 21, 2011 8:32:45 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive InvestorsLive.com in the speedtrader spot

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:08 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive one thing I wanted to cover before going back to questions

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and before forgetting

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:19 PM EDT]   ChopStockTrader             only lvl2 i use is on ILs site

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:24 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that LGFTY call Friday

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:25 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/BHTWGFDUDR.png

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:31 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive had said it was text book

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:36 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive said in chat where I was trying to buy bid

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:47 PM EDT]   mtrading08         IL what I really meant was, that I have been told on multiple occasion now that LVL 2 quantities are bogus a lot of times, and it’s a game. Is that the norm or the exception?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:50 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive want you to either have said “ya I saw that” or look now and realize how actually text book it was

[Aug 21, 2011 8:33:58 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive we obv know this thing fell from grace

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive ripped then pulled back

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive then red to green something we’re familiar with

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:23 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive popped up I missed that first pop happened real fast, I was watching but it had a .03 cent spread

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so I was hanging out on bid because it pulled back and hld green

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so I snagged a starter .65 then tried to bid for it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:34:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive never got hit but .. obviously a stop if it didnt hold green right?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:24 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive So

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:30 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive as I said in chat – where I was trying to bid some

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:32 PM EDT]   spazztrader        Nate that slotted line that yesterdays close?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:37 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and then u have the text book re-break of HOD

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:42 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that’s Thursdays close

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:43 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive yes

[Aug 21, 2011 8:35:47 PM EDT]   spazztrader        ok ty

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:00 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but this is the play I had called out in chat – and marketmakers and others were in … then we sold .75 and .80

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:06 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and said we’re gonna be pissed later etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:15 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I just screen captured that call (before it went to 1.50) lol

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:22 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you guys see how/why I snagged that?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:26 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive questions/comments?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:29 PM EDT]   spazztrader        yes

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:45 PM EDT]   Dan000 ya got it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:36:49 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and obviusly u can see the vol picking up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but that’s just a beautiful set up – and if u go back to last week when LBAS was in play

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:06 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive on the way up

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:11 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive u saw -war calling out some entries

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:17 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive he saw reversal it pulled back

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:19 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive held flat line

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:30 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and he’d buy each time at that 10:40AM level

[Aug 21, 2011 8:37:38 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive or at least alert to it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:38:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive saw the reversal, pull back held a higher low and then bam re-test .. so u have ur stop loss and trade relative to the risk at hand .. and size in accordingly

[Aug 21, 2011 8:38:16 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive (Aug 21-20:33) mtrading08: IL what I really meant was, that I have been told on multiple occasion now that LVL 2 quantities are bogus a lot of times, and it’s a game. Is that the norm or the exception?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:38:37 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive sure, and along the way you’ll learn tricks of the trade to be just as bogus …. ie: hide your sells, work it out differently etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:38:57 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive all about having an edge, you wonder why people get fills before you etc

[Aug 21, 2011 8:38:59 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive always a learning cycle

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:05 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and things change over and over and over again

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and rules change over and over and over again

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:27 PM EDT]   mtrading08         Ok thanks

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but sure thing, take even LGFTY for example

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:39 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that first day it opened after halt

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:45 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive 100 shares

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:48 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive would reflect a bid

[Aug 21, 2011 8:39:48 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive lol

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:04 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive min bid size below .50 is 5k … above .501 = 2500

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but 100 was repping bids or offers if you saw, was funny

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:14 PM EDT]   mtrading08         yea thats what i mean

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:31 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive ya, so over time you’ll learn more and more by watching

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:38 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so no, don’t trust it 100% just use it as a tool

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:40 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive learn as you go

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:41 PM EDT]   mtrading08         ok understand it better now

[Aug 21, 2011 8:40:44 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive it’s not a tool by itself

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: I’ve tried to play the news alerts in chat a couple of times. One time I waited too long because I wanted to see if the stock reacted to the news and I missed the move. The other time I took the trade as soon as the alert showed up and as soon as I bought, the stock started to decline and never stopped. Any recommendations on how to play those news alerts?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:08 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive Yes, as I’ve covered in seminars http://www.investorsunderground.com/members/ and new member page – view the T530 mention there – just because they are + doesn’t mean they are going straight up and just because negative doesn’t mean they are going down. The fraud calls are just beautiful but here’s the thing, they are ACTIONABLE ALERTS. It pops, you know why, it drops, you know why, trade accordingly.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:27 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive NONE of us buy stocks because news is positive

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:36 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive NONE of us short stocks because earnings were bad

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:41 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive NONE of us buy stocks because they beat earnings

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:48 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive there’s no edge there

[Aug 21, 2011 8:41:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive I get PMs … but they beat earnings, why is it going down?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive all that stuff is for the birds, you could have the best analysis and get creamed

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:15 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive we trade price action

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:17 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so point is

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:31 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive T530 has bad azz news alerts and more importantly actionable alerts

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if you catch it, you catch it, if you don’t .. forget it… let it trade out settle down and it may be a great bounce or short

[Aug 21, 2011 8:42:58 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive if you go to new member page I added a T530 seminar where we covered

[Aug 21, 2011 8:43:22 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive for example if it’s good news, and it popped and there is no follow thru – well play is dead .. forget it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:43:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive it’s just a news source that is in front of hundreds/thousands of people

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:02 PM EDT]   Laura right, one on Friday was that way

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:06 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive who trade actionable alerts

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:27 PM EDT]   Laura I played, it didn’t pop

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:33 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive or, on the contrary .. you have stuff like a fraud call which is just the most bad azz alert you’ve every seen …

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:41 PM EDT]   Laura took a small loss an move on

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:46 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but point is, if u play and it doesn’t go that way… it deosn’t go straight down … they settle out …

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:51 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive so get out … it didn’t pop and hold

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:52 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive move on

[Aug 21, 2011 8:44:55 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive or … hold and get burned

[Aug 21, 2011 8:45:00 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive which some love to do

[Aug 21, 2011 8:45:03 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive for some reason

[Aug 21, 2011 8:45:18 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive questions on that?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:45:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: Amazing call on the CRM bounce today. Spooky good. What made you think it was ready? Right, what made you get into it at 112.40 and not before / after?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:45:44 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive Was on the scan the night before so had been watching it, gapped up on Cramer pump and couldn’t believe it had sold off so much. So it cracked red, then did a quick drop like I mention – washout .. so I started in, as shown only 300 shares with room to add. But it was a difference in price action relative to the prior movement – SPY was holding just fine so figured it’d get a bounce.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:46:18 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive again like I said above – just a slow fader all day so I was watching and bam .. washed out .. started in with small shares just in case it fell another buck

[Aug 21, 2011 8:46:27 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive but if you pull daily chart up + intraday chart

[Aug 21, 2011 8:46:42 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive you’ll see just like all the other charts I’ve gone over in the suggested reading on the new members page

[Aug 21, 2011 8:46:45 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive its all about risk vs. reward

[Aug 21, 2011 8:47:17 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: I am learning by watching and asking. I looked at my trades this week. I made 19 trades. 13 profitable. 3 losses, 1 breakeven, 2 swings that I still holding onto. The problem i have is making mental stop losses to limit my losses. You suggested not using limit losses and use mental and keep to them.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:47:32 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive If you can’t take losses on your own then you should use real limit losses. I like to give stuff a bit of breathing room, like RIMM last week. I’m not going to be perfect – neither are stocks – if it holds a general trend and only needed 3 more cents and then bounced… well … I’ll give it a chance based on how it’s reacting. I go in with an idea in mind, based on the prior support levels is my risk .. if I am confident I’ll go in full size (ie: fraud calls first time around) but many times I’m just in partial if it goes I’ll add in, if it doesn’t I can give it a little wiggle room.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:48:21 PM EDT]   mtrading08         IL I think in one of the semiars you say to never use stop losses in OTC’s

[Aug 21, 2011 8:48:34 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive ya never

[Aug 21, 2011 8:48:37 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive that’s silly in OTCs

[Aug 21, 2011 8:48:46 PM EDT]   mtrading08         but in Nasdaq that is fine right?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:48:56 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive sure

[Aug 21, 2011 8:49:02 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive one that trades thick

[Aug 21, 2011 8:49:10 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and not a high day ranger

[Aug 21, 2011 8:49:12 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive like we normally trade

[Aug 21, 2011 8:49:20 PM EDT]   sbbi98   what is “fraud call”?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:50:55 PM EDT]   TheDean              while on subject of fraud calls, I know there’s a few groups that have cred. for their calls so people listen (Citron/Muddy Waters)…. are there any other “research” groups that you’d put in that category?

[Aug 21, 2011 8:54:54 PM EDT]   mtrading08         Ahh makes sense

[Aug 21, 2011 8:55:11 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive QUESTION: Today, i tried the mental stop loss and sold to early. Example, i bought HPQ pre-market 24.69. Mentally i was going to sell if it dropped below 24. It hit 24 so I sold. It went down to 23.90 and then back up. I saw later Nate, that when it dropped to 23.90 you bought again and sold when it went up. I didn’t do that because I was afraid it was going lower. Was my mental stop to high and unreasonable? I am trying to get a feel for what is reasonable and what I am comfortable with.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:55:15 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive On a $24 dollar stock … a .69 cent stop loss is a bit ‘large’ so perhaps you broke a mental stop loss when it was really 24.50 or something, or maybe you were just in real small. Either way, if you’re giving it 70 cents of a mental stop you’re probably in 1/3 size or so I’m assuming. If that’s the case I would have let it bottom let the trend form and get in and nail the trade off lows. If that doesn’t work than I’d stop.

[Aug 21, 2011 8:56:05 PM EDT]   Laura plus a lot of stops on even dollar marks…………

[Aug 21, 2011 8:56:44 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive and that’s it!

[Aug 21, 2011 8:56:45 PM EDT]   karen99                Laura, not sure what that means

[Aug 21, 2011 8:57:00 PM EDT]   Laura more stops on even dollar means more selling

[Aug 21, 2011 8:57:12 PM EDT]   Laura best to set stop at say 23.89 or so

[Aug 21, 2011 8:57:29 PM EDT]   Laura might still get triggered, but everyone likes round numbers

[Aug 21, 2011 8:57:49 PM EDT]   InvestorsLive u guys were scarce on questions this week

[Aug 21, 2011 8:57:58 PM EDT]   karen99                i was in small on that one

[Aug 21, 2011 8:58:21 PM EDT]   Laura I was too, and had mental stop in it

[Aug 21, 2011 8:58:42 PM EDT]   Laura but didn’t get triggered, I sold for almost no gain near eod

[Aug 21, 2011 8:58:54 PM EDT]   drtom   do you ever use patterns for trades, like IBD teaches- cups with handles, saucers, flags, etc?
