Scaling in, Scaling Out … Starters, Visuals and Member Q and A

by | Dec 5, 2011

[Dec 4, 2011 8:41:03 PM EST]       InvestorsLive QUESTION: How do I know when it’s time to short a stock and that it’s not going to go higher. I don’t want to guess.

[Dec 4, 2011 8:41:16 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANSWER: This is why I always push people to become familiar with the suggested reading prior to the seminars listed on the new member page (if none others only the top one that I push every day). BUT it’s all about the risk vs. reward. I like either a parabolic short on an overextended chart or a late day fade on an overextended chart. The only other time I’ll take a short is on a channel break down (much like the JVA example shown in the Vegas presentation).

[Dec 4, 2011 8:41:45 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 1. Over extended chart parabolic – coming into the day it’s been up many days in a row relative to typical price action and off support by quite a bit. If gaps up in the morning and spikes relative to prior price action I’ll more than likely take that short.

[Dec 4, 2011 8:42:15 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 2. Late day fade – I prefer over extended charts BUT not always necessary. If they’ve been up over the past week and have yet to pull back any flat line consolidation that ends in a weak fade I’ll take short the final hours of the day. Otherwise if a stock has been holding $X price each time it pulls back and this time it ends up breaking it, I’ll take that short or many times anticipate that break. http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/VXAEODJPVC.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:42:41 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 3. Channel breakdown – a stock that may be up on the day that has been holding a trend all day (ie: flat line consolidation breaks a high pulls back … re-test that support, holds it again pops up … then re-test and fails to hold prior low)

[Dec 4, 2011 8:43:13 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’m going to answer all the member questions and then have a TON of visuals to go over

[Dec 4, 2011 8:43:22 PM EST]       InvestorsLive any questions from what I said above?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:43:38 PM EST]       tradernyc            n

[Dec 4, 2011 8:43:57 PM EST]       InvestorsLive gonig once….

[Dec 4, 2011 8:44:03 PM EST]       InvestorsLive twice …

[Dec 4, 2011 8:44:04 PM EST]       InvestorsLive none?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:44:16 PM EST]       tradernyc            sold

[Dec 4, 2011 8:44:18 PM EST]       InvestorsLive QUESTION: A few days ago in chat (or on the scan, can’t remember which one) you mentioned that INHX needed to ‘speed up and squeeze’ before it topped. What made you think/know that it would play out like that and squeeze before it reversed?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:44:34 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANSWER: It’s been up quite a bit, no one can deny that … but it had yet to squeeze. Most of the time overextended charts tend to speed up at the end (parabolic) early shorts get squeezed start buying in, momentum traders take the long because it’s breaking highs but this wasn’t the case with INHX. The movement was a slow grind.

[Dec 4, 2011 8:45:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/KBSQPYFKIH.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:45:39 PM EST]       InvestorsLive this is that day

[Dec 4, 2011 8:45:45 PM EST]       InvestorsLive sucker never ‘sped up’

[Dec 4, 2011 8:45:53 PM EST]       InvestorsLive just slow grind

[Dec 4, 2011 8:46:29 PM EST]       InvestorsLive it’s my belief .. my way of trading that usually I look for that END rally … that LAST PUSH … parabolic move…

[Dec 4, 2011 8:46:44 PM EST]       InvestorsLive put yourself on the other side of the trade for a min … you’re short at $12 …

[Dec 4, 2011 8:46:55 PM EST]       InvestorsLive that point where it presses all your points

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:00 PM EST]       InvestorsLive all your buttons

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:05 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and you just say F it and cover

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:09 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and it’s usually the top right?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:18 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I try to put myself on THAT side of the trade and THAT thinking

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:22 PM EST]       InvestorsLive when I’m thinking about entry

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:29 PM EST]       InvestorsLive for a short

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:49 PM EST]       InvestorsLive so these slow grinders like I covered last seminar with SINA when I took the big loss, if they never speed up

[Dec 4, 2011 8:47:52 PM EST]       InvestorsLive DON’T ADD IN

[Dec 4, 2011 8:48:03 PM EST]       InvestorsLive wait for it to fade put a top in, re-test fail and THEN ADD

[Dec 4, 2011 8:48:13 PM EST]       InvestorsLive otherwise you can add all day and end up upside down

[Dec 4, 2011 8:48:35 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Textbook chart stated in chat: http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/WZEYTUMGJF.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:48:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive the A B C D chart all should be familiar with

[Dec 4, 2011 8:49:04 PM EST]       InvestorsLive (from the suggested reading for tonight)

[Dec 4, 2011 8:49:23 PM EST]       LarryLivermore that squeeze that your talking about … is that what you think will happen with amwi?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:50:06 PM EST]       InvestorsLive AMWI is nothing like Nasdaqs, I have no idea – if there is a short in AMWI they may cover we’ll see I’m talking about preditable chart patterns not OTC pumps

[Dec 4, 2011 8:50:18 PM EST]       LarryLivermore ok

[Dec 4, 2011 8:50:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive sticking with INHX

[Dec 4, 2011 8:50:33 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Another textbook chart I called the long on in chat and why I sold because it basically broke out and sped up my thought stated in chat was .50 magnet and sell into the pop http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/XDBHGQDOPA.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:50:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Rather than a short, the slow grind and re-test of HODs

[Dec 4, 2011 8:51:10 PM EST]       InvestorsLive the long call I had in chat … which also could have been a nice short as it ended up pulling back about .35-40 cents as well

[Dec 4, 2011 8:51:14 PM EST]       InvestorsLive on the parabolic

[Dec 4, 2011 8:51:40 PM EST]       InvestorsLive for those unfamiliar with teh charts those are the actual trade entry and exits DAS has that feature and plugs ur trades in

[Dec 4, 2011 8:51:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Another look

[Dec 4, 2011 8:51:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive A look at a short I took into a parabolic spike – the stock had been up already was over extended came out of the AM first pop and then went parabolic and did about .50-.60 in a 1 minute candle so I took the pop and it fell right back so took the profits http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/XVVXPUYSDU.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:52:44 PM EST]       InvestorsLive let it go outta the gate, mental idea = $13 whole number .. broke and held over $13 no reason to short and then went nearly to $14 within 2 bars

[Dec 4, 2011 8:52:51 PM EST]       tradernyc            so u took it on the 1st red candle

[Dec 4, 2011 8:52:55 PM EST]       InvestorsLive so parabolic, typical that some profit taking will come in

[Dec 4, 2011 8:53:28 PM EST]       jkjk77    what broker had shares INHX

[Dec 4, 2011 8:53:39 PM EST]       InvestorsLive everyone has

[Dec 4, 2011 8:53:49 PM EST]       InvestorsLive then one other look

[Dec 4, 2011 8:53:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Red/green out of the morning (weak open) and slowly started popping, the move over $15 had a .20-.25 spike so I figured .50 area would be where the stock would speed up to but here’s why I said I wasn’t adding and didn’t add until it put in a top and started to fade. Slow and steady grind higher with NO speeding up. http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/KBSQPYFKIH.png

[Dec 4, 2011 8:54:00 PM EST]       jkjk77    not et

[Dec 4, 2011 8:54:33 PM EST]       InvestorsLive that’s cuz u have etrade….

[Dec 4, 2011 8:54:37 PM EST]       InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/brokers/

[Dec 4, 2011 8:54:52 PM EST]       jkjk77    et sucks for s/s

[Dec 4, 2011 8:55:14 PM EST]       kpottsnc              Whenever you refer to speeding up, are you talking about just price or price and volume?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:55:29 PM EST]       InvestorsLive lets stay on topic vs. talking about %%%%*y brokers

[Dec 4, 2011 8:55:43 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’m talking about speeding up relative to prior price action

[Dec 4, 2011 8:56:27 PM EST]       nicklomeli            do you just look at red/green on the day (compared to the previous day) or do you look at red/green vs. the open for the day as well?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:57:26 PM EST]       InvestorsLive r/g vs. the open is not red/green

[Dec 4, 2011 8:57:37 PM EST]       InvestorsLive its all relative to prior close

[Dec 4, 2011 8:58:04 PM EST]       InvestorsLive any further questions on that topic?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:58:24 PM EST]       InvestorsLive stockhunter PM Please

[Dec 4, 2011 8:58:38 PM EST]       InvestorsLive QUESTION: Is there a chart pattern recognition system that recognizes the type of setup chart that you like for example the textbook type charts?

[Dec 4, 2011 8:58:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANSWER: Homework, that’s why we do scans!

[Dec 4, 2011 8:59:20 PM EST]       InvestorsLive The key is to have the idea coming into the day

[Dec 4, 2011 8:59:30 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if it’s just off scans, be able to pull up the daily chart

[Dec 4, 2011 8:59:34 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and see what type it is

[Dec 4, 2011 8:59:37 PM EST]       InvestorsLive over extended, bouncer etc

[Dec 4, 2011 8:59:39 PM EST]       tradernyc            But can u tell if a chart will be textbook by homework?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:00:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive over extended – and wait for one of the 3 ways I listed earlier

[Dec 4, 2011 9:01:24 PM EST]       InvestorsLive but no, you can’t have it tell you what we like to see that’s why I show so many examples

[Dec 4, 2011 9:01:27 PM EST]       InvestorsLive visually

[Dec 4, 2011 9:02:21 PM EST]       InvestorsLive QUESTION: Can you explain how to play washouts? Meaning how do you know when to go long or when to short the washout? I find myself trying to catch falling knives at times and sometimes I feel like shorting and it’s not the right time yet.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:02:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANSWER: Just flip a parabolic chart upside down, it’s just the opposite on the downside. Much like shorts panic and cover into upside, longs may panic and sell into downside. When the move accelerates that’s when I’m looking to snag. This is a VERY risky trade and would not suggest it to ANYONE who has to ask, when you’re ready to trade them you’ll know the risk at hand and take the risk on your own. I would not suggest this for an account builder.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:09 PM EST]       InvestorsLive these take time and I really don’t suggest much like the OTCs

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:16 PM EST]       InvestorsLive when you’re ready you’ll be making the call yourself

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:23 PM EST]       InvestorsLive one of riskiest plays in da book

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive imagine FMCN buying the washout $22 to $18

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:37 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and be in a halt at $9

[Dec 4, 2011 9:03:57 PM EST]       tradernyc            pretty scary

[Dec 4, 2011 9:04:01 PM EST]       InvestorsLive QUESTION: Most of the time IL doesn’t trade mid-day, but every once in a while he does (i.e. HDY mid-day fade on 11/29/11). Can you talk about when to and when not to take a trade mid-day?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:04:20 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANSWER: I only trade if I see a set up I’m comfortable with. For example HDY set up

[Dec 4, 2011 9:05:35 PM EST]       InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/CJJLFZHMJC.png

[Dec 4, 2011 9:06:18 PM EST]       InvestorsLive lack of vol and flat line mid day

[Dec 4, 2011 9:06:46 PM EST]       tradernyc            At what time would u take this trade on the chart?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:07:36 PM EST]       InvestorsLive right on the crack after 11:30

[Dec 4, 2011 9:07:52 PM EST]       InvestorsLive was early on I had first short it there

[Dec 4, 2011 9:07:53 PM EST]       InvestorsLive then covered

[Dec 4, 2011 9:14:12 PM EST]       dnvalid1               is that usually a sign of a drop about to come?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:14:25 PM EST]       dnvalid1               when it washes out on high volume for 1 bar and then rebounds

[Dec 4, 2011 9:15:16 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I try to take trades off set ups not just one random candle

[Dec 4, 2011 9:15:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive no reason to short it there, however is a reason once it starts to fade away

[Dec 4, 2011 9:16:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive INCY “textbook” called in chat http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/TSGWBRHXRR.png

[Dec 4, 2011 9:25:26 PM EST]       dre7dre7             So on that stock a .30 to .40 move is what you are looking for?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:25:35 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’m interested in anticipating it… so probably starting in prior to C with a known risk D

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:05 PM EST]       Robyn   D is where your mental stop is?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:16 PM EST]       InvestorsLive dre7 – before the EOD ? I rarely hold anything over night

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:21 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if at all

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:36 PM EST]       InvestorsLive .30-.40/share gain could be nothing or could be something it’s all relative to the stock price

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:46 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Robyn correct D = mental stop

[Dec 4, 2011 9:30:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive D is NOT KNOW prior to becoming D

[Dec 4, 2011 9:31:05 PM EST]       InvestorsLive D tells us itself, it’s were it reverses gearing/perking

[Dec 4, 2011 9:31:20 PM EST]       dnvalid1               IL – I know that part – question was where do you put stop on 2nd half? at C

[Dec 4, 2011 9:31:43 PM EST]       dnvalid1               assuming you already broke C and sold 1/2

[Dec 4, 2011 9:31:45 PM EST]       InvestorsLive depends on the chat – if its something thats set up for a big move I may hold as long as C holds, or back my entry

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:05 PM EST]       InvestorsLive depends, whole # close, red/greenc lose? 52s etc

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:12 PM EST]       InvestorsLive all that stuff, volume and make decision then

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:15 PM EST]       InvestorsLive depending on price action

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:23 PM EST]       dnvalid1               ic

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:26 PM EST]       InvestorsLive but yes typically if it breaks back sub C

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’d take it off since the trade I was taking

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:36 PM EST]       InvestorsLive is no longer holding

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:38 PM EST]       InvestorsLive = next

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:46 PM EST]       InvestorsLive guys I’m going to move on to the 3 topics I wanted to cover today that I forgot to mention at the start

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:57 PM EST]       jkjk77    D=Fail or pop wait and see

[Dec 4, 2011 9:32:59 PM EST]       autumnalcity      do you ever manually sell (e.g. you see the overall market gearing against you and call it a high and out) or do you let a mental trailing stop get you out each time

[Dec 4, 2011 9:33:10 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I really wish and want you guys to take it seriously when I push certain things to be read BEFORE seminars it helps you guys when i have lots of visuals b/c you’ve seen it before

[Dec 4, 2011 9:33:28 PM EST]       tradernyc            Everyone gets an F for not doing homework.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:33:49 PM EST]       InvestorsLive autumnal – if the market is dropping/fading/cracking I prob won’t anticipate a breakout

[Dec 4, 2011 9:33:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive given the overall moral

[Dec 4, 2011 9:34:30 PM EST]       autumnalcity      right but if we break way above C how do you get out completely? is it ultimately a manual decision or a stop on a pullback a la trailing stop

[Dec 4, 2011 9:35:10 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I lock in 1/2 and let the rest trade out

[Dec 4, 2011 9:35:23 PM EST]       InvestorsLive alright going to the 3 main topics I wnated for tonight the problems I’ve seen in chat

[Dec 4, 2011 9:35:34 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and the problems with you guys just taking what u want out of chat and not really paying attention to what I say

[Dec 4, 2011 9:35:43 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 1. Don’t understand scaling, if a typical stop would be .20 cents and I’m in 1/4 or 1/2 that means that stop is widened until I’m ‘sized’ in. Subscribers who take scale in plays and don’t bother scaling in but rather take the trade right away and don’t let it pan out since they’re in full size. I like to get a FEEL for stocks and you can’t get a FEEL for stocks unless you have some skin and emotions in the game. It zones you in, you watch, stalk and nail. Some subscribers have just gone in full size because that’s what they want to do and don’t pay attention to the fact that a) it has a big range b) it could still squeeze a bit more and c) this is an average in play not one hit wonder

[Dec 4, 2011 9:36:19 PM EST]       InvestorsLive We are in a crazy market right now I will NOT go in full sizes on the first entry until we get back to 20-30 pt swings in the INDU

[Dec 4, 2011 9:36:30 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if we ever do, right now we have 100s of range in the INDU

[Dec 4, 2011 9:36:47 PM EST]       InvestorsLive SPY is all over, you can be right one minute and wrong 20 min later b/c Greece this or Banks that

[Dec 4, 2011 9:36:51 PM EST]       jkjk77    Give us you top 2 plays in the a.m.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:37:08 PM EST]       InvestorsLive enough

[Dec 4, 2011 9:37:42 PM EST]       superfly15           guys use your brains

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:00 PM EST]       InvestorsLive (just mutin’ the ones who do what they want) 🙂

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:05 PM EST]       InvestorsLive You guys need to understand this stuff we are playing HIGH DAY RANGE STOCKS

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:09 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and in THIS market

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:19 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Sure many times I can nail stuff to the HOD

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:23 PM EST]       InvestorsLive or to the penny whatever

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’ve had a lot of good plays but

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:51 PM EST]       InvestorsLive The market also sometimes has such range … you can’t just go in and nail it … cuz you’ll get eaten

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:52 PM EST]       InvestorsLive like I did on SINA

[Dec 4, 2011 9:38:56 PM EST]       PrivatePhilco      I have learned to scale into trades since i got into this chat. It really can save you or make you more money.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:39:15 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if I say I am starting into a position

[Dec 4, 2011 9:39:17 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 1/4 or 1/3 size

[Dec 4, 2011 9:39:21 PM EST]       InvestorsLive lets say PCX

[Dec 4, 2011 9:39:29 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I typically may play 3-4k shares on something with that range

[Dec 4, 2011 9:39:46 PM EST]       InvestorsLive full size and probably go for a .30-.40 cent move if I nail it vs. .15 risk

[Dec 4, 2011 9:40:02 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if I am starting in 1/3 size then I’m in 1k and my risk may be .30-.35

[Dec 4, 2011 9:40:23 PM EST]       InvestorsLive vs if I went in 3k and my risk is .10-15 max

[Dec 4, 2011 9:40:40 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I may not nail it to a T .. so I’m in smaller so I can be PATIENT and let the trade pan out

[Dec 4, 2011 9:40:53 PM EST]       InvestorsLive once it either fails at another high or starts to fade off I can choose to add from there

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:08 PM EST]       InvestorsLive also I dont always go full size after starting in … for example DEXO

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:12 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Friday made $1k

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:17 PM EST]       InvestorsLive started in 1/4 size … 5k shares

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:42 PM EST]       InvestorsLive had I gone 20k shares i would have stopped out near 1.90

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:46 PM EST]       InvestorsLive for fear of $2

[Dec 4, 2011 9:41:57 PM EST]       InvestorsLive so gives me patience etc

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:07 PM EST]       InvestorsLive also once its working you can add

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:08 PM EST]       InvestorsLive w/ houses money

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:18 PM EST]       InvestorsLive so if I’m up $500 can add in $5k more when it looks to crack the next time

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:26 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and now $500 unrealized …. and double in

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:33 PM EST]       Laura or w/wedding money

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:39 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 5k more not $5k *

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:42 PM EST]       LarryLivermore lol

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:44 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ha

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:52 PM EST]       InvestorsLive but you get the point houses $$ and risk that way

[Dec 4, 2011 9:42:58 PM EST]       InvestorsLive basically the point is .. in THIS market

[Dec 4, 2011 9:43:01 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if I am in FULL size

[Dec 4, 2011 9:43:07 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I want to have houses money on my side

[Dec 4, 2011 9:43:42 PM EST]       InvestorsLive do you get scaling in? do you get what i am saying? nothing worse than seeing people get burnt up when I say am starting into something SMALL

[Dec 4, 2011 9:43:48 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and they go in full size and get smoked

[Dec 4, 2011 9:43:58 PM EST]       InvestorsLive then I let it pan out, add in and nail it

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:01 PM EST]       InvestorsLive b/c that was the plan

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:02 PM EST]       InvestorsLive etc

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:19 PM EST]       InvestorsLive that’s why when I am playing a WIDE ranging stock

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:22 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I write like 3 TIMES

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:32 PM EST]       InvestorsLive STARTER *** STARTED IN *** etc

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:35 PM EST]       InvestorsLive cuz I know people don’t read

[Dec 4, 2011 9:44:47 PM EST]       InvestorsLive not all of you …… 🙂

[Dec 4, 2011 9:45:01 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Any questions related to scaling in guys?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:45:02 PM EST]       PrivatePhilco      I really appreciate that you do write in all your scale in’s

[Dec 4, 2011 9:45:11 PM EST]       hurleydood        when the trade is going your way and your 1/4th in, when do you add in

[Dec 4, 2011 9:45:34 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if it looks ready to crack/breakout again

[Dec 4, 2011 9:45:45 PM EST]       InvestorsLive HDY for example that chart we looked at earlier ..

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:06 PM EST]       InvestorsLive lets say short at 3.50 …. and then sideways 3.40 all day and it starts going 3.39 .. 3.38 … starting to get into afternoon fade

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:10 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I’d add short all day

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:27 PM EST]       Robyn   say you start in & it goes way against you like 70 cents. somehow you add & nail. are you adding double? idk how you are making all that money on those

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:44 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   so basically u start in 1/4 ….let it go up watch it and if it dont go lower than a certain stop limit . u will add another 4 until u feel it is breaking out

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:46 PM EST]       Robyn   im thinking maybe ANR was one of those this week.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:49 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if I am in a starter to get a feel for it

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:58 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANR 2k full size, was in 500

[Dec 4, 2011 9:46:59 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   and once u have that feeling u go full size in

[Dec 4, 2011 9:47:09 PM EST]       InvestorsLive then added 500 1k or sumthing

[Dec 4, 2011 9:47:15 PM EST]       InvestorsLive but for me I like to get in the stock with some to get a feel for it

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:05 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   let me ask u this how far down do u normally put your stop losses

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:08 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ANR was 23.70 to 24.20 area … on 500 then it topped and zoinked it 24s for the fade abck under

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:15 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   .10- below

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:21 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I use mental stop losses

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:21 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   or .05 below

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:43 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if I am in a starter or 1/4 size can’t be 2 close whatever my typical mental stop would be is widened by 4 x

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:46 PM EST]       BuffettMoney   ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:53 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and u can’t place a .05-.10 stop

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:57 PM EST]       InvestorsLive on all

[Dec 4, 2011 9:48:59 PM EST]       InvestorsLive its all relative

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:03 PM EST]       InvestorsLive will a .05 stop work on AAPL?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:21 PM EST]       InvestorsLive what about .05 stop on AMWI ?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:24 PM EST]       MilesJStoner      UAL a good example of small start, and got moved against

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:48 PM EST]       InvestorsLive UAL did exactly what I wrote on scan Thursday

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I said I expected it to test $20

[Dec 4, 2011 9:49:59 PM EST]       InvestorsLive hit 19.87

[Dec 4, 2011 9:50:05 PM EST]       InvestorsLive sure I started **STARTED** in

[Dec 4, 2011 9:50:11 PM EST]       InvestorsLive way early get a feel for how it was trading

[Dec 4, 2011 9:50:29 PM EST]       InvestorsLive but everyoen wonders whats plan, what u think how high .. but no one reads scans

[Dec 4, 2011 9:50:41 PM EST]       InvestorsLive ok next subject

[Dec 4, 2011 9:50:43 PM EST]       InvestorsLive 2. Subscribers like to give plays ‘a bit longer’ but don’t take into account market action if the volume slows and price trend continues opposite direction you want – it’s OK to lock in some gains who cares about commissions it’s part of the cost of doing business, think about how many times you were too cheap because you didn’t want to spend $4.95 and cover 1/3 or 1/2 and instead turned it into a $50, $100 or $200 loss, which was the cheaper alternative? ALSO one biggy, forcing that EXTRA trade and forced to hold due to PDT

[Dec 4, 2011 9:51:51 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I have a high % win rate and I have like to trade with locked in money … because it gives me more patience

[Dec 4, 2011 9:51:56 PM EST]       InvestorsLive because of this

[Dec 4, 2011 9:52:20 PM EST]       InvestorsLive if you think a stock is going to bust out … u buy .. it does and pops … WHY NOT PAY YOURSELF SOME

[Dec 4, 2011 9:52:28 PM EST]       InvestorsLive worst case it goes back to your entry and you’re still up

[Dec 4, 2011 9:52:56 PM EST]       PrivatePhilco      Yeah And that does happen lots

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:09 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I dunno how many people I’ve spoke to …

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:15 PM EST]       InvestorsLive they rather have Scottrade

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:16 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Etrade

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:23 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Zecco

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:28 PM EST]       InvestorsLive cuz they are so concerned about $4 dollars

[Dec 4, 2011 9:53:38 PM EST]       InvestorsLive or saving $3

[Dec 4, 2011 9:54:20 PM EST]       InvestorsLive traders ALL AROUND are more concerned about the comission of trades than the product itself or the point of trading (ie: locking in)

[Dec 4, 2011 9:54:34 PM EST]       InvestorsLive this is a problem, and I’m bascally saying… it’s ok to spend a commission it’s part of the game

[Dec 4, 2011 9:54:50 PM EST]       InvestorsLive that time you were too cheap to take 1/2 off cuz it was going to cost you $5 bucks

[Dec 4, 2011 9:55:04 PM EST]       InvestorsLive well now you’re dwon $50 because you didn’t lock 1/2 in

[Dec 4, 2011 9:55:24 PM EST]       SuperSev             ends up costing you hundreds cuz you let profits slip or actually turned into a loss……

[Dec 4, 2011 9:55:41 PM EST]       SuperSev             yup i think we all agree IL

[Dec 4, 2011 9:55:49 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Lastly

[Dec 4, 2011 9:55:50 PM EST]       InvestorsLive It’s NOT ALWAYS a short just because it’s up. Why is it a short? When do you need to protect? What would cause it to change into a long? Just because they have no cash, dilution etc does NOT mean it’s a short. These are the things when you know TOO much that can cause you to lose your shirt. Yes, sure it pays to know things sometimes there is an alternative argument to what I just said but as a TRADER … more often than not I’m happier just trading the price trend, when I know too much about a company I start rationalizing dumb ideas and lose money.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:56:12 PM EST]       InvestorsLive like OPTR back in the day Miles I think was stubborn on it

[Dec 4, 2011 9:56:14 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I sure as hell was

[Dec 4, 2011 9:56:20 PM EST]       InvestorsLive kept going up every day but we kept wanting to fight

[Dec 4, 2011 9:56:52 PM EST]       InvestorsLive and I lost like $200-300 a day Miles I think he just held for like 5 days kept going cuz thought proces “its up so much how much higher can it go”

[Dec 4, 2011 9:56:59 PM EST]       InvestorsLive well which one does that relate to that we are trading right now?

[Dec 4, 2011 9:57:26 PM EST]       PrivatePhilco      NFLX did it to me

[Dec 4, 2011 9:57:30 PM EST]       splendores         Inhx

[Dec 4, 2011 9:57:36 PM EST]       InvestorsLive INHX

[Dec 4, 2011 9:57:48 PM EST]       InvestorsLive exactly INHX …. keeps going up green each day

[Dec 4, 2011 9:57:57 PM EST]       splendores         Panl remember that

[Dec 4, 2011 9:58:00 PM EST]       InvestorsLive JUST because its up doesn’t mean it has to come back

[Dec 4, 2011 9:58:22 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Oh one more

[Dec 4, 2011 9:58:25 PM EST]       InvestorsLive Know when to pull back, know your strengths, know your weaknesses. When to pull your foot off the gas before getting over confident.

[Dec 4, 2011 9:59:27 PM EST]       InvestorsLive because I got sloppy SO

[Dec 4, 2011 9:59:40 PM EST]       InvestorsLive I wired out a bunch of Nov profits back to basics before I pull a SINA etc

[Dec 4, 2011 9:59:54 PM EST]       InvestorsLive its about realizing when to pull back .. go back to the few hundo profits and get hot again….

[Dec 4, 2011 10:00:17 PM EST]    InvestorsLive for example DEXO I prob wouldnt trade 20k on a regular day after a slow few weeks
