Traders4ACause Receives Carolyn Lynch Humanitarian Award from BCRF

by | May 9, 2022

As traders, we spend a lot of our time focusing on how we can make money.

Some traders are driven primarily by the pursuit of wealth while others are driven by intrinsic rewards such as overcoming challenges and conquering growth opportunities.

Regardless, we all share the same goal of extracting profits from the market.

When you spend so much of your time focusing on generating profits, it’s easy to start obsessing over money and lose sight of how fortunate you really are. Whether you are a career trader or still finding your footing, you probably have access to more wealth and resources than a large percentage of the global population.

Recognizing your good fortune puts you in a position to give back and help those less fortunate.

This is exactly why I co-founded Traders4ACause in 2013.

Traders4ACause is a charity that was founded by a group of traders who aimed to promote a culture of caring and altruism within the trading community.

The charity, run primarily by volunteers, has since raised over $1.5 million for worthy causes.

Traders4ACause & BCRF

One of the charities we’ve worked closely with over the years is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF), the largest private funder of breast cancer research. BCRF is run by an inspirational team that works tirelessly to raise funds to support breast cancer research and improve the lives of those affected by breast cancer.

With the help of the trading community, we have donated nearly $700,000 to BCRF in an effort to put breast cancer out of business.

I am proud to announce that Traders4ACause was recently honored with the Carolyn Lynch Humanitarian Award at the BCRF Hot Pink Party in Boston.

I had the honor of accepting the award and sharing my thoughts on why I believe in the Traders4ACause mission and the work we’ve done to support BCRF.

Here is my speech:

We could not have achieved this without the support of the trading community, so THANK YOU to everyone who has supported Traders4ACause over the years.

If you are looking to make an impact and help others, I want to leave you with a few thoughts.

Some Things Are More Important Than Trading

Trading is a passion. For most traders, trading isn’t a “job” – it’s an obsession. We eat, sleep, and breathe day trading.

We’re glued to our screens for 8 hours/day, checking our phones during after-hours sessions, thinking about trading at the dinner table, and (occasionally) having dreams about our overnight positions.

While this passion is meaningful, it’s just one part of a fulfilling life. To find proper balance and true fulfillment, you need to optimize all areas of life – health, family, personal growth, etc.

Supporting charitable causes can be a great way to escape “trading tunnel vision” and focus on making a real impact.

Remember that there are some things more important than trading…

While you’re trying to make an extra buck in the market, someone is trying to feed their family. While you’re fighting a trade that’s going against you, someone is fighting for their life.

Don’t lose sight of the bigger picture.

If You Do Well, Give Back

If you do well, you have the opportunity to improve the lives of others. This is a privilege.

Trust me, it feels a lot better to help others than it does to pad your bank account.

There is nothing more meaningful than making an impact.

Money that makes no material impact on your lifestyle can make a very real impact on others. Would you notice if you made 1% less next year? 2%? 3%?

Your contributions can help others get access to the resources that many of us take for granted – food on the table, good health, etc.

This privilege is not reserved for the ultra-wealthy. Every donation counts.

Many people believe they will give back when they reach “x milestone,” but there’s no better time than now. If not now, when?

If you’re in the position to give back in any way, I encourage you to do so.

The Fundraising Continues

Once again, I’d like to thank everyone who has helped support Traders4ACause over the years.

The charity has received contributions from hundreds of generous donors.

Can we count on your support?

Please join us in our efforts to raise another $100,000 to support BCRF. Thanks to some large donors, we are close to reaching our goal!

There is no donation too big or too small. Every donation counts.
