Seminar Topics for the 17th of April!

by | Apr 15, 2011

We’ve had an EXTREMELY solid week (minus the one day I totally screwed up on INVE) which just shows you how important rules are .. I broke mine… therefore I took a nice loss. Yesterday we had straight up awesome calls in chat all morning, straight entries since most were extremely liquid …. and should have been a profitable day for all. If… for whatever reason it wasn’t – what did you do? What did you do wrong? What did you buy/where and why?

This weekend lets focus on those who are not making money, who are still buying at random spots.

Please use the comment section below to send in any questions.

By the way those that rush in at 7PM on Sunday with questions … comon! Want a good answer? A prepared answer? Potential visual to go along with it? Send it in Friday and Saturday!

Thank you!

Also – anyone who hasn’t yet if you have the time to leave a review at Investimonials for Investors Underground Live Chat …… or InvestorsLive Twitter I sincerely appreciate it

  1. We see them all the time, and we talk about them all the time, but could you go over the “inch inch b/o” play? If possible, I would like to see a successful play, and one that was unsuccessful and maybe talk about the differences between the two plays.

    Thanks,

    War

  2. I would like to know if it is possible to scan for r/g stocks before they cross so its possible to anticipate and watch before its already jumped .20 cents /share

  3. Since War already brought up the inch inch break out let me add an extra question to it. Just to make it complete can you go over how you decide to sell your breakouts once you’re in them? Are your profit taking points on a breakout just based on abritrary values that you place or is there some type of a formula you use to decide where to take your first profits at?

    • Sorry I think arbitrary was a bad word there. Do you set your profit points when you first enter or are they dynamic based on the movement of the stock?

  4. On Muddy Method, I was wondering which stocks he takes right at open and which stocks he looks to let ride for a few minutes to see how it trades out. I understand that stocks that look like the spread will be tighter on open (generally hitting on a tighter price range for a series of print) are less risky at open. But how does he decide which ones to play when the pre hits are kinda all over the place.

  5. When you trade OTCs, sometimes you worn in chat room to be very careful ? What do you mean ? Be careful and sell in to up trend ? I dont trade OTCs because I dont want to end up with shares that I cannot sell.

  6. Have you had a losing week? If not when is the last time you’ve had a losing week?

    • Of course, I’m not sure though that’s not really something that’s going to help you or anyone with trading.

Point is yes I lose, key is keeping your losses small and learn from them, strike the iron while your hot. etc.

  7. I want to learn to trade Nasdaqs! I am seriously clueless when I trade them. I don’t know how to interpret trader530’s alerts. I see it go up 20% in a minute but I won’t get in cuz thats chasing but then sometimes it’ll go up another 50%. So most of the time, I just stay out. What’s the approach I can get in to trade these small Nasdaqs?!

  8. I have some questions about buying OTCs, say a play off scan, when it’s early and hasn’t traded much — swing plays, still in inch mode, accumulation plays, etc.

How do you determine your risk? for entry, are you looking for a true pullback or do you just find a reasonable price to bid? how do you use volume for an entry without getting in late?

  9. Are you looking for day rangers intraday or are these from the nightly and pre scans?
What is the difference between the nightly and pre scans? Is there one that I should be focusing on more than the other?
When looking at even dollar marks, do you buy before it crosses in anticipation of a run or do you wait until it crosses to buy?
As a newb, what should I be focusing on (because all of it, which I’ve been trying to do is a little overwelming)? The pre-list, nightly scans, alerts in chat, OTCs, stocks with a certain volume or price?
In a seminar from 2 years ago, you posted a link to a video of “jiggy” that tortexal had. The link is dead now. Is that video still available somewhere?
Should I be holding any positions overnight?
How much should I be investing in each position? I’m not under PDT, but I do want to limit bank roll for DT to $15-20k. I am comfortable with $3-5k per position. Is that too much for a newb? What should be my llimit per position? How many open positions should I limit myself to?
Do I get a prize for the most questions ever? 😉

  10. Hello,

Is there a way to printout your three ppts? I find I keep going back to them. The more I watch the room and learn the more your ppts make sense to me. It would be helpful if I had hard copies to make notes on.

Is there anything you do to shake a bad streak? I seem to be in a horrible zone all of a sudden. I was making nice profits for weeks, learning and being pretty consistent. I made some mistakes but they were good learners. All of a sudden if I touch it, it seems to go red (and I don’t s/s).

I bought PNGM when it was being accumulated. One day 1.5 million shares, the next over 400K shares and the next day 28K. I got out at a loss by selling at the next two bid prices the day after the 28K when there was no momentum. I am sure I missed the signal to get out sooner, but I don’t know what it was.

When you need to get out of a stock because it is not moving as you anticipated, do you sell at bid or put in at the lowest ask? Sometimes it is dropping so fast it is hard to know what to do? Can you talk a little about the best way to get out of a bad position? (especially since this is apparently my trading strategy for the past two weeks)

On 4/12 I took a screen shot of a quick comment you made to Beachbum re: CPTCQ. I had the stock on watch and didn’t understand. –InvestorsLive: CPTCQ might be decent today too beach b/c usually on Qs penson doesnt deliver the shares very quickly so might have only traders vs. regular day sellers in there could b wrong, but sometimes 24 hrs.–

Many thanks!! Most of all would like to print the ppts. No problem if these don’t fit it.

  11. Having only traded in a bull market, I want to be prepared for the slow down and/or crash. When “buying the dip” stops working, or the kool-aid goes way, how would one change their strategy to stay alive in a tougher market? Would I take profits quicker, expect less % gains, only short, not long the OTCs, be more choosy about the set ups? Are these the right ideas? I want to be a cockroach that never dies =)

  12. Would it be possible to have a section on the website where users (if they wanted to) post pictures of their computer setups and the type of equipment they use? I’m thinking about investing a bunch of money into a new updated setup and I’d like to spend it wisely. I think a lot of other members would be interested in this too.

    Thanks

  14. Sorry for the late entry, just thought of this.

I have some questions about pre market buying and selling with IB. I had an issue with selling INVE premarket after I had bought it premarket, the option was no longer able to be selected right after I bought, but now when I check I am able to sell premarket. Why does this happen?

Also along those lines when you find shares to short of a hard to borrow, how am I able to reserve these with IB? Dose just putting in the order when I see them available on the IB short list reserve them? Do I have to contact IB to short OTC’s premarket?

    Reply
    • No problebm with “late” all good but

I think you should contact IB about the second question – I think you can reserve with over $100k account not sure otherwise, you can just give them a buzz or do their online chat and get the answer

As far as pre market you need to select “fill outside RTH” on the pull down under Day order I believe or just set it up to automatically have that selected, that’s what I have
