[Sun Jan 11 17:00:57 EST 2009] InvestorsLive OK guys

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:05 EST 2009] InvestorsLive 8PM

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:09 EST 2009] InvestorsLive This is the first of many seminars. Our goal is to provide an overview of what we do, how we do it and how you can learn from it. As we’ve mentioned all along we aren’t in the business of telling you when to buy or sell. We want everyone to learn how to anticipate and execute the trade on your own allowing you to make the decision based on what you’ve learned over the next few weeks/months.

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:11 EST 2009] Muddy ok,ready

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:18 EST 2009] InvestorsLive We will cover each topic, at the end of each topic you can send me a question you’d like answered. If it’s relevant I will put it in chat to be answered. We will spend 5 to 10 minutes and more if needed to answer follow up questions.

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:19 EST 2009] tortexal bak

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:43 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Strategy: Momentum Stocks – What they are, why we trade them and why we don’t fall in love with them

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:47 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Tools: Real Time Quotes – If you’re going to be trading whether full time, part time or as often as the pattern day trade rule allows you… its imperative to have the right tools.

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:52 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Scans: How to find the right stocks to trade – StockFetcher what to plug in, what does it mean, what do the numbers mean?

[Sun Jan 11 17:01:56 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Pre-List: What is the pre-list? Why do we pay attention to it each morning? How to trade it.

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:00 EST 2009] InvestorsLive DayRangers: What is a day range? Whats the importance of a high ADR? How should a DayRanger be traded?

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:07 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Pattern Daytrade Rule: How to trade with it, importance of stops, position sizing.

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:10 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Former Runners: How to get to know them (hundreds of them). Importance of scanning each night.

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Q Stocks: Why we love them, how to play them and again why it’s important to have a list to monitor them.

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:16 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 is the seminar just in the chat room?

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:30 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Now please keep all questions of of the channel

[Sun Jan 11 17:02:44 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I will accept PMs for questions once Muddy and others are done speaking

[Sun Jan 11 17:03:14 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Those who do I’ll be gagging just to keep the channel open

[Sun Jan 11 17:03:58 EST 2009] Laura guys, no typing now at all.

[Sun Jan 11 17:05:13 EST 2009] Muddy the basic strategy is we are daytrading or short swinging mometum stocks…ones we find during the day that have not hit any of our scans the night before many times…but also ones that have……

[Sun Jan 11 17:06:30 EST 2009] Muddy ones that have include the large % gainers…ones that hit the RunForestRun and its offshoot, combo scan…

[Sun Jan 11 17:06:40 EST 2009] Muddy and the real big deal…

[Sun Jan 11 17:07:03 EST 2009] Muddy the highest average day rangers from the previous week

[Sun Jan 11 17:07:35 EST 2009] Muddy what I try to do is get at least 8% from any of these….

[Sun Jan 11 17:07:44 EST 2009] Muddy either short or long…

[Sun Jan 11 17:08:17 EST 2009] Muddy but also the basic strategy is built around one thing for me…

[Sun Jan 11 17:08:49 EST 2009] Muddy and I cannot trade without it..its the scrolling hod list

[Sun Jan 11 17:09:12 EST 2009] InvestorsLive HOD = high of day (from Scottrade)

[Sun Jan 11 17:09:19 EST 2009] Muddy yes

[Sun Jan 11 17:09:44 EST 2009] Muddy if any other broker has it,fine…i don’t know of any

[Sun Jan 11 17:10:40 EST 2009] Muddy remember folks,it scrolls

[Sun Jan 11 17:10:59 EST 2009] InvestorsLive First Question: “How to read the scrolling hod list. It is moving so fast most of the time, I cannot pick out the symbols.”

[Sun Jan 11 17:11:18 EST 2009] Muddy Reaper says….. Genesis Securities has a hod list, and its customizable

[Sun Jan 11 17:12:12 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Second Question: “How far into the market open do you typically begin your trading? Do you have a specific timeframe you”

[Sun Jan 11 17:12:19 EST 2009] Laura Regarding the hod list……the more symbols you know from running scans nightly for months and months makes it easier to see symbols that you know…..you know appx price, you know if they usually are a good trading stock

[Sun Jan 11 17:12:47 EST 2009] Laura plus, you can hit the maximize or minimize window button and hold down to freeze the scroll briefly

[Sun Jan 11 17:12:52 EST 2009] Muddy and it takes a few months to get your eyes adjusted to it…i taught Mike13th and it took him that long, but he became a sniper

[Sun Jan 11 17:13:10 EST 2009] Laura I don’t find it hard to read a bit except during open

[Sun Jan 11 17:13:17 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Third Question: “Do you pick a stock as soon as you watch it HOD? Or do you wait for it to continue to HOD a few times before picking it?”

[Sun Jan 11 17:13:36 EST 2009] Muddy THIS is the value of knowing former runners…you cherrypick them right off hod list

[Sun Jan 11 17:14:07 EST 2009] InvestorsLive (Guys PM me not Muddy or Laura)

[Sun Jan 11 17:14:10 EST 2009] Muddy by running my scans EVERYNIGHT I burn them right into my brain

[Sun Jan 11 17:14:40 EST 2009] Muddy 2nd question….

[Sun Jan 11 17:15:40 EST 2009] Muddy I just right in on some at 9:30…the ones on premarket list i know as former runners and have news…

[Sun Jan 11 17:15:57 EST 2009] Muddy mostly the earnings ones or drug news

[Sun Jan 11 17:16:38 EST 2009] Muddy especially the LATE pre hits on the interactive brokers scan for pre

[Sun Jan 11 17:17:17 EST 2009] Muddy like ANDS ANSV CTTYQ last week

[Sun Jan 11 17:17:22 EST 2009] Muddy just went in

[Sun Jan 11 17:17:31 EST 2009] Muddy CCTYQ

[Sun Jan 11 17:18:56 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Late Hits – What time do pre hits stop

[Sun Jan 11 17:18:57 EST 2009] Muddy 3rd question….i like the ones off my scans

[Sun Jan 11 17:19:10 EST 2009] Muddy but i dont just jump in….

[Sun Jan 11 17:19:39 EST 2009] Muddy i watch a few factors such as…

[Sun Jan 11 17:20:52 EST 2009] Muddy vol spike, even dollar(the nearness or cross),the jiggyness in the scott quote box, even the float,i like the lower float ones

[Sun Jan 11 17:22:01 EST 2009] Muddy the main thing is…is it either a “hot” stock of late….ala PLD KFN DRYS or has it run hard in the past when jig and hod

[Sun Jan 11 17:22:21 EST 2009] Muddy i watch a “test” of hods in qbox also

[Sun Jan 11 17:22:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Low float: what is it.. common question

[Sun Jan 11 17:22:48 EST 2009] Muddy banging it time after time but NOT hitting a new high…

[Sun Jan 11 17:23:14 EST 2009] Muddy i watch the BID up but WITHOUT the ask rising

[Sun Jan 11 17:23:25 EST 2009] Muddy just a repeated test of highs

[Sun Jan 11 17:23:50 EST 2009] Laura I think that answered question 3

[Sun Jan 11 17:24:52 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Pre Hits vs. Late Hits and when cut off is and how you look at them differently

[Sun Jan 11 17:24:52 EST 2009] Laura one more thing though, if you are doing it on a slower scale, you can watch those hitting the hod list and check the chart for a 10/60 cross too

[Sun Jan 11 17:26:00 EST 2009] Muddy first this…in Scott, the float can be checked super fast by looking at the shares outstanding in the qbox

[Sun Jan 11 17:26:30 EST 2009] Muddy anything under 20,000 in the qbox is lower

[Sun Jan 11 17:26:47 EST 2009] Laura When he’s looking to trade a stock quick, he’s not taking time to go look up actual float.

[Sun Jan 11 17:26:59 EST 2009] Muddy if it says NO DATA,its even better,a trick i’ve learned

[Sun Jan 11 17:26:59 EST 2009] Laura If shares outstanding low, good chance float is too

[Sun Jan 11 17:27:09 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Low float is the number of shares tradeable to the public market, the less that are out there the quicker it moves in both directions, for example something like SIRI that has hundreds of millions of shares outstanding will need 50 million shares to move up, whereas stocks we play may be running 20-50% on only a few million shares

[Sun Jan 11 17:27:36 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Question: If a Stock gaps up in the open how to determine whether to go for short or long and similarly if a stock gaps down at open how to determine whether to go for short or long.

[Sun Jan 11 17:29:00 EST 2009] Muddy Pre Hits vs. Late Hits and when cut off is and how you look at them differently

[Sun Jan 11 17:29:46 EST 2009] Muddy cutoff is 9:29:50…the later the better

[Sun Jan 11 17:30:44 EST 2009] Muddy because of the late comers

[Sun Jan 11 17:31:07 EST 2009] Muddy especially the huge amount of west coast traders….

[Sun Jan 11 17:31:24 EST 2009] Muddy they do not see it up in pre

[Sun Jan 11 17:31:42 EST 2009] Muddy they come on and see a stock up say 15%…

[Sun Jan 11 17:31:54 EST 2009] Muddy especially the lower priced ones

[Sun Jan 11 17:32:11 EST 2009] Muddy they want to be part of the action

[Sun Jan 11 17:32:30 EST 2009] Muddy sometimes it cause a feeding frenzy

[Sun Jan 11 17:32:53 EST 2009] Muddy i can see this in the jiggy in qbox…i can see it

[Sun Jan 11 17:33:40 EST 2009] Muddy thats why those under $2 ones can take off after even_13:30 am est.

[Sun Jan 11 17:34:14 EST 2009] Muddy 50% they see, they want in..it goes to 100% at times or more

[Sun Jan 11 17:34:25 EST 2009] Muddy thats what CCTYQ did

[Sun Jan 11 17:34:39 EST 2009] Muddy it hit pre 3 mins before open

[Sun Jan 11 17:35:21 EST 2009] Muddy Question: If a Stock gaps up in the open how to determine whether to go for short or long and similarly if a stock gaps down at open how to determine whether to go for short or long.

[Sun Jan 11 17:35:55 EST 2009] Muddy this is where i watch EVEN dollar marks hard…

[Sun Jan 11 17:36:35 EST 2009] Muddy and also i flip a chart up fast to look at support and resistance the last week or so

[Sun Jan 11 17:36:47 EST 2009] InvestorsLive that’s ($2.00, 3.00 etc) yes that simple

[Sun Jan 11 17:37:11 EST 2009] Muddy yes and also .50 marks on the under $5 ones

[Sun Jan 11 17:37:36 EST 2009] Muddy i play off these even marks HEAVY at the open

[Sun Jan 11 17:37:44 EST 2009] Muddy on gaps,up or down

[Sun Jan 11 17:38:24 EST 2009] Laura IL, next

[Sun Jan 11 17:38:45 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Jiggy

[Sun Jan 11 17:38:56 EST 2009] Laura we’ll open for questions a bit later on what we have covered

[Sun Jan 11 17:39:19 EST 2009] Muddy ok…now all I use is Scott so…

[Sun Jan 11 17:39:20 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and yes this first and probably second will be slower since its fielding questions but once we have a base we’ll have prepared and faster seminars

[Sun Jan 11 17:39:31 EST 2009] Laura but please, one question at a time, let him answer, then move on

[Sun Jan 11 17:39:35 EST 2009] Muddy i dont know if other brokers have it…

[Sun Jan 11 17:40:07 EST 2009] Muddy but Scott,i can read like a book….

[Sun Jan 11 17:40:13 EST 2009] Muddy on jig…

[Sun Jan 11 17:40:44 EST 2009] Muddy i look at the BxA Sixe and/OR exchange

[Sun Jan 11 17:41:05 EST 2009] Muddy it flips fast, really fast on some….

[Sun Jan 11 17:41:46 EST 2009] Muddy but i ONLY use it on the ones at or near their hods!

[Sun Jan 11 17:41:52 EST 2009] Muddy others i ignore

[Sun Jan 11 17:42:38 EST 2009] Muddy i want the ones that are on hods, because these to me are the ones you get10%+ fast many times

[Sun Jan 11 17:42:47 EST 2009] Muddy i look for vol spike…

[Sun Jan 11 17:43:14 EST 2009] Muddy if no vol spike i won’t cast it off though,,,its just an added plus

[Sun Jan 11 17:43:25 EST 2009] Muddy but heres the thing….

[Sun Jan 11 17:44:39 EST 2009] Muddy if you run the scans i suggest, everynight….

[Sun Jan 11 17:44:58 EST 2009] Muddy you know the stocks that should be in play…

[Sun Jan 11 17:45:28 EST 2009] JCastellon the SF filters are on GOTS and DS correct?

[Sun Jan 11 17:45:53 EST 2009] Laura no questions til IL opens it for questions

[Sun Jan 11 17:46:30 EST 2009] Muddy also i know which stocks the ADR10 has increased over the ADR30..this is important to me….

[Sun Jan 11 17:46:51 EST 2009] Muddy it shows the ones picking up in volatility…

[Sun Jan 11 17:47:15 EST 2009] Muddy you can not go by just increasing vol in past days…

[Sun Jan 11 17:47:46 EST 2009] Muddy imo,the increasing volatility is far superior

[Sun Jan 11 17:48:14 EST 2009] InvestorsLive ADR – average day range over a certain period number of days, example: ADR(30) – the higher the number the more volatile

[Sun Jan 11 17:49:00 EST 2009] Muddy right and if 10 days is higher than 30……

[Sun Jan 11 17:49:20 EST 2009] Muddy its a stock that is being folllowed now

[Sun Jan 11 17:49:39 EST 2009] Laura IL, one more Q

[Sun Jan 11 17:49:43 EST 2009] Laura go

[Sun Jan 11 17:50:14 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Pattern Daytrade Rule: How to trade with it, importance of stops, position sizing.

[Sun Jan 11 17:51:10 EST 2009] Muddy first size….even when i used $30k to trade i used only 1/10 a trade

[Sun Jan 11 17:51:19 EST 2009] Muddy now i go 1/30th

[Sun Jan 11 17:51:22 EST 2009] Muddy but

[Sun Jan 11 17:51:33 EST 2009] Muddy if i had a small acct…

[Sun Jan 11 17:52:07 EST 2009] Muddy i’d go in as small as feasible to build the acct…

[Sun Jan 11 17:52:53 EST 2009] Muddy honest, anything under $5k ,you gotta use super tight stops, which with these volatile ones is tough…

[Sun Jan 11 17:53:03 EST 2009] Muddy if i had that size acct….

[Sun Jan 11 17:53:49 EST 2009] Muddy (1). i’d trade the shorts, just like Tim Sykes does

[Sun Jan 11 17:54:06 EST 2009] Laura let’s hear some input from the other mods on this one.

[Sun Jan 11 17:54:28 EST 2009] Laura I agree, Tim Sykes’s system does work for smaller accounts

[Sun Jan 11 17:54:32 EST 2009] Muddy (2). the only longs I’d play would be the high dayrangers but onlt the OVER $10 ones

[Sun Jan 11 17:55:10 EST 2009] Muddy TS method is perfect for longer holds

[Sun Jan 11 17:55:32 EST 2009] Muddy you cant do more than 3 in 5 days…..

[Sun Jan 11 17:56:29 EST 2009] InvestorsLive One thing I would do with a smaller account as well is to take it a step further and look at the chart with a longer time span, look at the 3 month chart, look where your support and resistance levels are… if its something that has a choppy chart it may not be the best trade for you and probably would look for the next – if its a long where it’s coming off a base this will allow you to be a bit more comfertable with your position and to use a wider stop

[Sun Jan 11 17:56:57 EST 2009] Muddy yes support/res

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:07 EST 2009] InvestorsLive that’s where when I scan at night I look for those

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:12 EST 2009] InvestorsLive on the 3 to 6 month charts

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:14 EST 2009] lighter I would use larger position size with a small account, but wait for idealized/good risk-reward scenarios and enter there. If it starts going against you, exit the position. It’s better to lose a little, than to lose everything.

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:22 EST 2009] tortexal having traded both sykes and Muddys methods under PDT for comparrison purposes, both work. Sykes is better to start w/ bc its an easier method but will take you longer to build your account. PDT imo is better suited to teach you risk management by protecting your capital thru fast exits when losing and picking plays w/ best R/R possibile initially

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:35 EST 2009] lighter You can also find chart setups that are forming a clear swing pattern that you can buy or short into

[Sun Jan 11 17:57:55 EST 2009] lighter and swing overnight, to limit using your DT per week (3 a week)

[Sun Jan 11 17:58:33 EST 2009] lighter If you

[Sun Jan 11 17:58:56 EST 2009] lighter If you’re just starting out, I would use small position size and just learn. Feel the market. Win small, lose small. But never lose your account.

[Sun Jan 11 17:59:16 EST 2009] lighter Once you feel more comfortable and get wins under your belt, you can go in large

[Sun Jan 11 17:59:39 EST 2009] InvestorsLive The biggest thing to over come is being able to take a loss – if it goes against you it means you are wrong.. cut the loss before it gets to large and impacts your account in a greater manner

[Sun Jan 11 17:59:57 EST 2009] InvestorsLive When I first started 5 years ago I let emotions get in the way.. “oh it CANT go lower”

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:05 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I will just add some more…

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I will get out on the next pop .. etc.

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:26 EST 2009] Laura yep, think we all have done that before

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:27 EST 2009] InvestorsLive the best thing you can do is ride out your winners and get rid of the losers right away..

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:35 EST 2009] InvestorsLive its VERY common starting out

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:41 EST 2009] Laura and it DOES go lower, and there ISN”T a next pop

[Sun Jan 11 18:00:52 EST 2009] Muddy a scan for longer holds, but these are bottom fishing ones but they tend to run once the go green……i will explain…

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:00 EST 2009] InvestorsLive its also VERY common to read into the new “well its a good company, so it should go higher”

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:09 EST 2009] InvestorsLive once you start rationalizing for why you are in the stock, that’s a bad thing

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:20 EST 2009] InvestorsLive that should tell you .. get out

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:29 EST 2009] InvestorsLive DDSI a good example. buy buy buy for FDA approval

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:43 EST 2009] InvestorsLive maybe wrong symbol – which was that Muddy

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:49 EST 2009] InvestorsLive opened $2.60 pre market

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:56 EST 2009] dcarlton DDSS

[Sun Jan 11 18:01:59 EST 2009] InvestorsLive thx dc

[Sun Jan 11 18:02:40 EST 2009] InvestorsLive You can read about buying the rumor and selling the news in any book tho.. so we don’t have to get into it

[Sun Jan 11 18:02:48 EST 2009] Muddy /* RUN FOREST, RUN for 1 day 8 pct loss, 2 day 10 pct loss or more */ /* and fails */ set{ DayChg1 , day change} set{ DayChg2x , close – close 2 days ago } set{ DayChg2y , DayChg2x / close 2 days ago } set{ DayChg2 , DayChg2y * 100 } set{CCb,days(close is above close 1 day ago,100)} set{CCa,days(close is below close 1 day ago,100)} set{ClxCl , CCa – CCb} set{ pick1 , count( DayChg1 below -7.9999 , 1 ) } set{ pick2 , count( DayChg2 below -9.9999 , 1 ) } set{ pickx , pick1 + pick2 } set{ pickx1 , pickx 1 day ago } set{ pick3 , count( ClxCl below 0 , 1 ) * pickx1 } set{ pick , pickx + pick3 } add column DayChg1 {Day1} add column DayChg2 {Day2} /* Long Profit Percent Statistics Display */ set{volcnt, count(volume above 1000000, 100) } set{volzero, count(volume equal 0, 100) } set{HiOp, high – open} set{Long_Profit, HiOp/open } set{B1A, count(Long_Profit > .01 , 100)} set{B2A, count(Long_Profit > .05, 100)} set{B0010, B1A – B2A} set{F1A, count(Long_Profit > .05 , 100)} set{F2A, count(Long_Profit > .10, 100)} set{F3040, F1A – F2A} set{I100, count(Long_Profit > .10 , 100)} and add column B0010 {1_5} and add column F3040 {5_10} and add column I100 {10___} pick above 0 close is between 1 and 15 average volume(10) above 250000 sort column 10 descending set{total,I100+average day range(10)} and add column total

[Sun Jan 11 18:03:25 EST 2009] Muddy this scan can find longer term holds

[Sun Jan 11 18:03:55 EST 2009] Muddy if you’ve never seen it it’s on the greenonthescreen post by Mike….

[Sun Jan 11 18:04:18 EST 2009] Muddy I’m Gonna Try…

[Sun Jan 11 18:04:32 EST 2009] Muddy which brings me to this…

[Sun Jan 11 18:04:46 EST 2009] Muddy READ THAT POST,everyone new!

[Sun Jan 11 18:04:51 EST 2009] Laura http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/2008/06/im-gonna-try.html

[Sun Jan 11 18:05:06 EST 2009] Muddy it is ALL the stuff i use, rolled up into 1

[Sun Jan 11 18:05:32 EST 2009] Laura If you can’t read that post, really don’t ask questions then.

[Sun Jan 11 18:05:47 EST 2009] Laura Read it first, try to get it. Then ask questions.

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:01 EST 2009] lighter You can also find longer holds/swing trades using basic technical analysis (i’ll go over this in either a future seminar or on the InvestorsUnderground dashboard later)

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:20 EST 2009] Laura great for a seminar lighter!

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:43 EST 2009] InvestorsLive And that’s the other thing about this seminar, chat and future ones,… it isn’t going to all click over night it will take a few weeks maybe a few months.. but if you actually practice and run the scans and get familiar with the stocks you’ll start to realize how much useless information you do remember about these stocks.. but there is one USEFUL piece..

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:56 EST 2009] Muddy yes..

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:56 EST 2009] InvestorsLive as you scan you will come across tickers

[Sun Jan 11 18:06:58 EST 2009] InvestorsLive over and over

[Sun Jan 11 18:07:03 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and they will ring a bell

[Sun Jan 11 18:07:16 EST 2009] InvestorsLive during the day you’ll see something on scan.. and say “Hey I know that one”

[Sun Jan 11 18:07:25 EST 2009] Muddy I’m willing to do this week after week until it clicks for most folks here

[Sun Jan 11 18:07:44 EST 2009] Muddy because i know….

[Sun Jan 11 18:08:01 EST 2009] Muddy it can be overwhelming at first…

[Sun Jan 11 18:08:09 EST 2009] Muddy but honest…

[Sun Jan 11 18:08:22 EST 2009] Muddy it is very simple when it clicks

[Sun Jan 11 18:10:30 EST 2009] lighter I think one of the initial barriers for new folks is just the jargon/shorthand Muddy/we use. Be sure to go over the glossary page (you can link IL) and read chat every day or look at the logs. Once that clicks quickly and you run the scans, it’s not that hard to follow.

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:05 EST 2009] Laura ahem, yeah, Muddy‘s language not the normal the normal stock jargon

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:10 EST 2009] lighter Example: there is no “HOD list” at Scottrade. They call it the “Market Movers” feature on their platform.

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:11 EST 2009] Laura ::laugh

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:15 EST 2009] lighter Muddy calls it HOD list shorthand

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:16 EST 2009] InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/chat-room-acronyms/

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:29 EST 2009] lighter That’s one thing I would offer to everyone. Just watch and pickup the language

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:31 EST 2009] tortexal flip button = reverse position button at IB etc ::beer

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:33 EST 2009] lighter Muddy uses a lot of shorthand

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:41 EST 2009] lighter once you get everything, it’ll click fast

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:49 EST 2009] lighter and you’ll pickup the rest

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:54 EST 2009] Laura search the gots blog http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/ for market movers

[Sun Jan 11 18:11:59 EST 2009] Laura I made some posts on it

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:11 EST 2009] InvestorsLive One other topic as you saw this week was Q stocks

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:19 EST 2009] InvestorsLive many times we talk about different sectors

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:26 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Airline sectors, Energy etc

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:28 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Solars

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:35 EST 2009] InvestorsLive we all have different list and our favorite stocks of each

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:40 EST 2009] Muddy stocks ending in Q..the companies are in bankruptcy….

[Sun Jan 11 18:12:52 EST 2009] Muddy but heres the thing…..

[Sun Jan 11 18:13:22 EST 2009] Muddy they are downtrodden with bad news…..

[Sun Jan 11 18:14:28 EST 2009] Muddy so,ANY news(or BETTER yet, rumors) that gives a glimmer of hope can move them fast and big

[Sun Jan 11 18:14:52 EST 2009] Muddy they are not overnught holds

[Sun Jan 11 18:15:01 EST 2009] Muddy they are though…

[Sun Jan 11 18:15:17 EST 2009] Muddy one of the best daytrading tools out there

[Sun Jan 11 18:15:38 EST 2009] Muddy maybe only a few plays a month,at most

[Sun Jan 11 18:15:53 EST 2009] Muddy but can be fast 50-100% moves

[Sun Jan 11 18:16:16 EST 2009] Muddy NWACQ used to give that every week

[Sun Jan 11 18:16:16 EST 2009] Laura post on GOTS about NWACQ a year or two ago. Muddy played this one many times in the old chat. $6 to nothing in the end. post here shows the 10/60 cross on volume AND a pic of the scott q box too. http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/2007/02/1060-sma-crosses-nwacq.html

[Sun Jan 11 18:16:46 EST 2009] Muddy right now DPHIQ,every day on green

[Sun Jan 11 18:17:17 EST 2009] Muddy you watch for jig,oh man these Q ones do it

[Sun Jan 11 18:17:55 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Question I received regarding Limit vs. Market orders – very common question, I always use limit I don’t always go the best ask sometimes .01-.03 above it depend on how the stock moves.. some of the stocks are thinner (lower float as we mentioned earlier)

[Sun Jan 11 18:18:06 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I want to be sure I don’t pay a dime higher than I wanted

[Sun Jan 11 18:18:19 EST 2009] InvestorsLive HOWEVER on the flip side.. Muddy mainly uses market …

[Sun Jan 11 18:18:23 EST 2009] InvestorsLive if I remember correctly

[Sun Jan 11 18:18:31 EST 2009] InvestorsLive so its really a decision you can make

[Sun Jan 11 18:18:38 EST 2009] Laura I am making him use limits more IL, ha

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:11 EST 2009] Laura But I agree with you, I set the limit a bit above the bid or ask, so that I do get a fill if it moves a penny or two

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:21 EST 2009] InvestorsLive yea so with that.. for example

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:21 EST 2009] Muddy i always want market but remember,i’m cocky,ha…so listen to the more sane folks here,ha

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:22 EST 2009] InvestorsLive DSTI

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:25 EST 2009] InvestorsLive last week

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:34 EST 2009] InvestorsLive http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/charts/big.chart?symb=dsti&compidx=aaaaa%3A0&ma=0&maval=9&uf=0&lf=1&lf2=0&lf3=0&type=4&size=2&state=8&sid=1633307&style=340&time=6&freq=1&comp=NO%5FSYMBOL%5FCHOSEN&nosettings=1&rand=6229&mocktick=1

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:42 EST 2009] Laura He’s had some bad fills on IB, which I see tort and lighter have experienced too.

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:46 EST 2009] InvestorsLive came up on scan.. I was buying and waiting sitting at 1.20

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:49 EST 2009] Laura I listened to them

[Sun Jan 11 18:19:53 EST 2009] InvestorsLive buying my shares, i bought 3k there

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:02 EST 2009] InvestorsLive had i gone market on 3k I would have probably paid

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:12 EST 2009] InvestorsLive 1.20, 1.23 (500) 1.27 (500) 1.30

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:27 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and.,.. 2 sec later the ask maybe come back down and sit at 1.22 again

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:35 EST 2009] InvestorsLive so instead it was 1.18

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and I put a limit to 1.20

[Sun Jan 11 18:20:55 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I filled some right away.. left it there and let it fill the rest of the way because thats where I wanted to get in and I was comfertable

[Sun Jan 11 18:21:17 EST 2009] Muddy just a few more things here……

[Sun Jan 11 18:22:15 EST 2009] Muddy first, this takes time….it revolves alot around knowing which stocks can run…the risk/reward….

[Sun Jan 11 18:22:27 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and do remember these first few will be slower covering broad topics and once we get through it we will take 1 or 2 topics at a time and have prepared seminars, possible video (as torts when capturing you can see some on his blog – tort post it if u want)

[Sun Jan 11 18:22:29 EST 2009] Muddy this you learn over time

[Sun Jan 11 18:23:09 EST 2009] Muddy 2nd…these are volatile stocks…

[Sun Jan 11 18:23:18 EST 2009] Muddy it isnt for everyone…

[Sun Jan 11 18:23:34 EST 2009] Muddy you cannot trade scared…

[Sun Jan 11 18:24:16 EST 2009] Muddy if this isnt for your personality its hard to do this ,but….

[Sun Jan 11 18:24:20 EST 2009] Muddy if it is…

[Sun Jan 11 18:24:36 EST 2009] Muddy you cannot believe the rewards…

[Sun Jan 11 18:28:20 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and as always after hours still answering questions but

[Sun Jan 11 18:28:22 EST 2009] Laura One more Q for Muddy, how/when to know to sell and take profits

[Sun Jan 11 18:28:48 EST 2009] Muddy i often if in long will flip short at 4% off hods….

[Sun Jan 11 18:29:31 EST 2009] Muddy folks,USE a trailing stop off your choice but USE it to protect profits….

[Sun Jan 11 18:29:48 EST 2009] Laura and prevent big losses

[Sun Jan 11 18:29:50 EST 2009] Muddy me, I will NEVER sell at hod, never

[Sun Jan 11 18:30:02 EST 2009] Muddy i let them run

[Sun Jan 11 18:30:44 EST 2009] Muddy but a 3-4% backoff i’ll usually take EXCEPT …

[Sun Jan 11 18:31:12 EST 2009] Muddy if its a big dayranger and its under 2 bucks

[Sun Jan 11 18:31:24 EST 2009] Muddy i watch the bid action

[Sun Jan 11 18:31:43 EST 2009] Muddy does the bid drop but ask very little

[Sun Jan 11 18:32:07 EST 2009] Muddy when ask hits price, does bid rise?

[Sun Jan 11 18:32:24 EST 2009] Muddy others use level2

[Sun Jan 11 18:32:35 EST 2009] Muddy i don’t trust it myself

[Sun Jan 11 18:33:08 EST 2009] Muddy but basic rule for me,around 45 trailer,3% initial

[Sun Jan 11 18:33:19 EST 2009] Muddy 4% trailer

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:03 EST 2009] Laura IL, general questions now.

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:07 EST 2009] rgaston25 which cross tends to give a better indication of the direction a stock will go on volume intraday. The 10/60 or 10/30?

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:20 EST 2009] Laura Just everyone, let him answer one Q before posting a new one

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:45 EST 2009] sevenbak so on Muddy‘s last q, 4-5 trailing stop, 3 initial stop loss?

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:50 EST 2009] Laura 10/30 has never been mentioned by Muddy rg

[Sun Jan 11 18:34:59 EST 2009] Laura if it works for you fine

[Sun Jan 11 18:35:12 EST 2009] rgaston25 ok, though i saw 10/30 brought up. thanks

[Sun Jan 11 18:35:16 EST 2009] JCastellon how many SF scans do you use? are they all on DS or GOTS

[Sun Jan 11 18:36:49 EST 2009] Laura I said one at a time

[Sun Jan 11 18:37:17 EST 2009] SobelSaint can we send the all to IL and have him cherry pick the best

[Sun Jan 11 18:37:26 EST 2009] InvestorsLive sure spam me

[Sun Jan 11 18:37:30 EST 2009] Blz 🙂

[Sun Jan 11 18:38:26 EST 2009] Muddy let me answer….10/60

[Sun Jan 11 18:38:51 EST 2009] Muddy so on Muddy‘s last q, 4-5 trailing stop, 3 initial stop loss? yes and?

[Sun Jan 11 18:39:26 EST 2009] maniac what %WIN is to be expected with this method using the 3% initial stop?

[Sun Jan 11 18:39:48 EST 2009] Muddy 66% is very reasonable

[Sun Jan 11 18:40:28 EST 2009] Muddy but the gains if you let them run

[Sun Jan 11 18:41:21 EST 2009] Muddy should destroy those smaller losses

[Sun Jan 11 18:41:29 EST 2009] maniac what do you think about scaling out vs. out all at once?

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:00 EST 2009] Laura He doesn’t scale out

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:05 EST 2009] Laura All in, all out

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:12 EST 2009] Muddy yes

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:16 EST 2009] SobelSaint Is there anything else you can share with us on the Run forrest run scan you posted for people under the PDT rule?

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:18 EST 2009] Laura Although we will add to a short postition

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:22 EST 2009] Laura not a long

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:46 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 question… RE: even dollar marks and .50 marks…

[Sun Jan 11 18:42:52 EST 2009] Laura Derf, he doesn’t watch charts at all

[Sun Jan 11 18:43:29 EST 2009] InvestorsLive 1 question at a time please stop

[Sun Jan 11 18:43:29 EST 2009] sevenbak On pumped stocks like Beacon or otherwise, do you wait them out and short or ride it up and down?

[Sun Jan 11 18:45:37 EST 2009] Muddy sobel…but NOT on the RFR scan…

[Sun Jan 11 18:46:06 EST 2009] Muddy you use the DAYRANGER scan if under pdtb rule….

[Sun Jan 11 18:46:16 EST 2009] Muddy it is the basic play….

[Sun Jan 11 18:46:44 EST 2009] Muddy you wait for red to green to long…

[Sun Jan 11 18:46:56 EST 2009] Muddy this is the basic play….

[Sun Jan 11 18:47:05 EST 2009] Muddy understand this …..

[Sun Jan 11 18:47:27 EST 2009] Muddy say stock XXX has a 20% ADR30,ok

[Sun Jan 11 18:47:43 EST 2009] Muddy it is now going green…..

[Sun Jan 11 18:47:57 EST 2009] Muddy from 5% down,ok

[Sun Jan 11 18:48:18 EST 2009] Muddy so its used up 5% off that 20% now…

[Sun Jan 11 18:48:42 EST 2009] Muddy now momo has carried it to green 1%…

[Sun Jan 11 18:48:54 EST 2009] Muddy you have 14% average left…

[Sun Jan 11 18:49:45 EST 2009] Muddy if it continues green the risk/reward of just getting half that is good,7-8%

[Sun Jan 11 18:50:06 EST 2009] Muddy and remember momo has taken it from red to green

[Sun Jan 11 18:50:34 EST 2009] maniac and you don’t care about vol at all?

[Sun Jan 11 18:50:43 EST 2009] Muddy same with green to red action on these short

[Sun Jan 11 18:51:09 EST 2009] Muddy vol sure, but spread more important

[Sun Jan 11 18:51:13 EST 2009] SobelSaint Do shorts have a higher success rate?

[Sun Jan 11 18:51:41 EST 2009] Muddy not in last month, longs rule now on the momos

[Sun Jan 11 18:52:03 EST 2009] Muddy you have to adapt, shorts were, not now

[Sun Jan 11 18:52:30 EST 2009] Muddy even on red market days

[Sun Jan 11 18:52:42 EST 2009] Muddy longs rule

[Sun Jan 11 18:53:06 EST 2009] Muddy i posted this in a comment…

[Sun Jan 11 18:53:34 EST 2009] Muddy a month ago i was trading 75% short

[Sun Jan 11 18:53:45 EST 2009] Muddy now i daytrade 90% long

[Sun Jan 11 18:54:39 EST 2009] Muddy maniac…vol you want in its daily range…if you get a vol spike, thats even better…

[Sun Jan 11 18:54:59 EST 2009] Muddy i can see the vol spikes in my quote box most times

[Sun Jan 11 18:55:12 EST 2009] Muddy and i run 20 qboxes at a time

[Sun Jan 11 18:55:27 EST 2009] Muddy i use 4 monitors,5 qboxs each

[Sun Jan 11 18:55:33 EST 2009] maniac so you’d pass it up if vol is rather low?

[Sun Jan 11 18:55:44 EST 2009] Muddy yes

[Sun Jan 11 18:55:54 EST 2009] Muddy but the spread…

[Sun Jan 11 18:56:18 EST 2009] Muddy some can be low float,so vol not too important

[Sun Jan 11 18:56:34 EST 2009] Muddy you want a reasonable spread

[Sun Jan 11 18:56:34 EST 2009] monster can you tell us how to figure the spread?

[Sun Jan 11 18:56:53 EST 2009] Muddy its the difference between the bid and ask

[Sun Jan 11 18:57:25 EST 2009] Derffie how 20 boxes 4 logins?

[Sun Jan 11 18:57:26 EST 2009] Muddy if bid is 2.80 but ask 3,not good

[Sun Jan 11 18:57:56 EST 2009] Muddy yes 4 log ins

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:03 EST 2009] Muddy seperate

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:24 EST 2009] Derffie thx

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:30 EST 2009] Blz it seems some stocks can waffle around green/red. When your talking about red to green on dayrangers do you look for a stock that opens red, say 5%, and moves green from there?

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:31 EST 2009] Laura nghtrvn: some of us cannot get scottrade for the HOD list, then what do we do? We can anticipate but we don’t see the same things as you. #2 do you run scans at night and in the morning or constantly though out the day? #3 When you say short, you mean a quick trade or a borrow?

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:32 EST 2009] monster so you want smaller spreads?

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:48 EST 2009] Muddy Blz…

[Sun Jan 11 18:58:59 EST 2009] Laura monster, tight spreads always better than wide

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:06 EST 2009] Muddy i have all 40 on my scott watchlist

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:11 EST 2009] Muddy so i can see

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:17 EST 2009] Laura AMOT on Friday was nuts, spread .30-.40 a lot.

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:29 EST 2009] Laura I traded it 3 x tho for profit

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:42 EST 2009] Laura But normally I wouldn’t have based on spread

[Sun Jan 11 18:59:58 EST 2009] mjones0418 Look at WAVE now on Scott.. Bid is at .40 Ask 1.95….= not good

[Sun Jan 11 19:00:10 EST 2009] Muddy but its afterhours

[Sun Jan 11 19:00:11 EST 2009] Laura I just saw buyins at 4, then bouncing up to 4.30s

[Sun Jan 11 19:00:14 EST 2009] monster AMOT tanked on eod

[Sun Jan 11 19:00:24 EST 2009] Muddy bid ask means NOTHING!

[Sun Jan 11 19:01:00 EST 2009] tortexal mj only market hours counts

[Sun Jan 11 19:01:14 EST 2009] pupu69 how do u know when an stock has run out of gas and is time to short.?

[Sun Jan 11 19:01:49 EST 2009] Muddy i look for rising price on LOWER 1-5 min vol first…

[Sun Jan 11 19:02:10 EST 2009] Muddy then i watch 3-4% off its hods

[Sun Jan 11 19:02:28 EST 2009] Muddy its usually done on those 2 factors…

[Sun Jan 11 19:02:54 EST 2009] Muddy the reward part is over usually,i’ll take profit and move on

[Sun Jan 11 19:03:19 EST 2009] Muddy everything for me revolves around r/r

[Sun Jan 11 19:03:58 EST 2009] Muddy one other thing,before i forget…

[Sun Jan 11 19:04:39 EST 2009] Muddy the under $1 ones…i can read like a book when they get jiggy and watch bid/ask action but….

[Sun Jan 11 19:04:52 EST 2009] Muddy i still play a bit small size

[Sun Jan 11 19:06:15 EST 2009] maniac I dont have scott, what’s this HOD list like? does it show all stocks in the universe?…or just a watchlist you intput?

[Sun Jan 11 19:06:34 EST 2009] Muddy its on greenonthescreen

[Sun Jan 11 19:06:42 EST 2009] Muddy everything on there

[Sun Jan 11 19:06:53 EST 2009] Muddy theres a snapshot of it

[Sun Jan 11 19:07:03 EST 2009] monster you can get a scottrade acct without money.

[Sun Jan 11 19:07:20 EST 2009] Laura search market movers on the blog here http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:10 EST 2009] Muddy no inactive fee either

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:25 EST 2009] Muddy i’ve had $500 in there for few yrs

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:35 EST 2009] Muddy i never trade with scott

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:35 EST 2009] JohnT But can you really see the market movers when they are running fast

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:44 EST 2009] Laura ha, no, I think we have a $100 in our scott acct don’t we Mudd?

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:48 EST 2009] merlin if you are short is a wider spread better

[Sun Jan 11 19:08:55 EST 2009] Muddy Yes,i trained my eyes

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:00 EST 2009] Austinhirn I understand the 1/30 rule. If your are playing with 3k say on a .50 cent stock do you buy 6000 shares at once or smaller bits and then how do you sell thme?

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:02 EST 2009] Muddy John…

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:07 EST 2009] Laura no, wide spreads never good

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:14 EST 2009] monster I asked at the office in houston they said you can keep an acct at $0

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:16 EST 2009] desitrader I trransferred my acct from scottrade and have zero balance but still get into account and see HOD list

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:19 EST 2009] Laura price you pay for low float ones sometimes tho

[Sun Jan 11 19:09:59 EST 2009] Muddy hold down the maximize tab,it will freeze the hod list

[Sun Jan 11 19:11:00 EST 2009] Muddy desi..you can but they can doink you too..i dont need the hassle so i just leave 500 in

[Sun Jan 11 19:11:31 EST 2009] Muddy i dont want to trade a day without it

[Sun Jan 11 19:11:40 EST 2009] Muddy so i dont risk it

[Sun Jan 11 19:12:27 EST 2009] pablo Muddy, why don’t you use scot for trading?

[Sun Jan 11 19:12:30 EST 2009] Muddy if i made 300k,150 of it at least would be because of that list at least

[Sun Jan 11 19:12:49 EST 2009] Muddy because IB is wayyyyyy cheaper…

[Sun Jan 11 19:13:10 EST 2009] Muddy plus you gotta call alot of otcbb in,thats crap

[Sun Jan 11 19:13:18 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 Muddy, do you ever buy premarket?

[Sun Jan 11 19:13:29 EST 2009] Muddy plus their shorting list is AWEFUL

[Sun Jan 11 19:13:41 EST 2009] pablo so true

[Sun Jan 11 19:13:43 EST 2009] Fullback This might be a moot question, but what did you do before useing HOD lits?

[Sun Jan 11 19:14:02 EST 2009] thahound Speaking of shorting, is the general rule with brokers no shorting for less than $5 at close of week? IB the exception to this, and what are their shorting limitations?

[Sun Jan 11 19:14:08 EST 2009] Austinhirn Muddy if you are 3k on a .50 cent stock do you buy 6000 at once ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:14:30 EST 2009] Muddy no,i dont NYC..only because I traded so long,7 1/2 a day enough for me

[Sun Jan 11 19:14:51 EST 2009] Muddy 45 yrs,i need to back off some

[Sun Jan 11 19:15:10 EST 2009] John doh Wow

[Sun Jan 11 19:15:23 EST 2009] Abraxas RE: IB do you subscribe to any data or use any other functionality besides order entry?

[Sun Jan 11 19:15:29 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 can I ask question?

[Sun Jan 11 19:15:38 EST 2009] Laura Wait

[Sun Jan 11 19:20:03 EST 2009] Muddy ok noob

[Sun Jan 11 19:20:09 EST 2009] Laura Abraxas, we only have basic data from IB, penny quotes for a few $$ a month. That’s it.

[Sun Jan 11 19:21:06 EST 2009] desitrader Muddy – on low float, do you use buy all or none during order entry?

[Sun Jan 11 19:21:20 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 RE: even dollar marks… how can you tell if it’s breaking out or fakeout on an even dollar mark? I’ve lost many times thinking it was breaking out at an even dollar mark, only to have it go down again… And do even dollar marks and .50 under $5 have teh same signifigance?

[Sun Jan 11 19:21:44 EST 2009] Fullback same here Noob.

[Sun Jan 11 19:21:51 EST 2009] Muddy desi,buy all

[Sun Jan 11 19:22:41 EST 2009] Muddy noob, the safest is the over/under/over method

[Sun Jan 11 19:22:50 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 ??

[Sun Jan 11 19:22:53 EST 2009] Muddy the 2nd cross

[Sun Jan 11 19:22:57 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 ahhh

[Sun Jan 11 19:22:58 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 ok

[Sun Jan 11 19:23:19 EST 2009] Muddy say 5.03 then 4.95 then 5.03 again

[Sun Jan 11 19:23:28 EST 2009] Muddy the r/r is way better

[Sun Jan 11 19:23:38 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 yeah, yeah… i got i… cool. yeah… thank you.

[Sun Jan 11 19:23:54 EST 2009] merlin Muddy do u set your stops right after u buy

[Sun Jan 11 19:23:54 EST 2009] Muddy but the qbox again, noob

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:10 EST 2009] Muddy if its jiggy..i hate to keep saying it but…

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:17 EST 2009] Muddy it can tell alot

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:21 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 right

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:23 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 ok

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:44 EST 2009] Muddy merlin, yes but MENTAL

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:44 EST 2009] stockdozer under 5$ …same signifigance?

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:48 EST 2009] Muddy not hard

[Sun Jan 11 19:24:59 EST 2009] merlin ty

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:17 EST 2009] Muddy for a short?

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:24 EST 2009] Muddy under 5?

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:30 EST 2009] stockdozer long

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:40 EST 2009] Muddy any price

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:43 EST 2009] WISEGUY What exactly is happening “behind the scenes” when the q box gets giggy?

[Sun Jan 11 19:25:50 EST 2009] sevenbak Not sure if the pumped question was addressed. Do you wait and short after the pump, or ride both directions?

[Sun Jan 11 19:26:22 EST 2009] Muddy the market makets, wiseguy, are scrambling around

[Sun Jan 11 19:26:36 EST 2009] pathan786 1. How long does it take you to do Qbox analysis after after you pick it off of HOD list. 2. Are we running scans only so we can recognise the tickers in HOD list ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:26:42 EST 2009] WISEGUY ty

[Sun Jan 11 19:26:57 EST 2009] Muddy it means its “in play”theres alot od bidding going on

[Sun Jan 11 19:27:29 EST 2009] Muddy (1) about a min

[Sun Jan 11 19:27:30 EST 2009] WISEGUY same for shorts ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:27:33 EST 2009] Laura seven, you can play pumps both ways

[Sun Jan 11 19:27:42 EST 2009] Muddy (2) no…

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:15 EST 2009] sevenbak what is the best r/r strategy on those Laura?

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:29 EST 2009] Muddy that too but i put them all on my watchlists to watch if a pop or red/green green/red etc.

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:30 EST 2009] Laura seven, idk

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:38 EST 2009] Laura they are very volatile

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:41 EST 2009] Muddy i have 400 at a times often

[Sun Jan 11 19:28:51 EST 2009] Muddy scott holds tons

[Sun Jan 11 19:29:07 EST 2009] Laura best is waiting for the drop to short, but if they are under a buck, costs you a bunch of margin $$ to do so.

[Sun Jan 11 19:29:13 EST 2009] Muddy i use 4 monitors and flip the watchlists

[Sun Jan 11 19:29:25 EST 2009] sevenbak So by having so many on a scott watchlist, they will highlight in the HOD list, is that the strategy?

[Sun Jan 11 19:29:44 EST 2009] sevenbak thanks L

[Sun Jan 11 19:29:57 EST 2009] pathan786 Thx Muddy .two more 3. Do you chase a stock if it has been jiggying for a while before you spotted it. If the answer is – it depends, then on what factors do you decide to pull trigger or let it go. 4. If the stock isn’t jiggying anymore in either direction after entry, do you stick with it or move

[Sun Jan 11 19:30:00 EST 2009] Muddy well, the watchlist has to be behind the hod list to highlight

[Sun Jan 11 19:30:12 EST 2009] pathan786 4. If the stock isn’t jiggying anymore in either direction after entry, do you stick with it or move on to next. Again, what factors determine the action. How long do you wait ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:30:40 EST 2009] Muddy (3)…yes i’ll chase if it keeps testing hod

[Sun Jan 11 19:31:02 EST 2009] Muddy first this,and very important…

[Sun Jan 11 19:31:39 EST 2009] Muddy scott has a big flaw in its hod list that i use to MY advantage…….

[Sun Jan 11 19:32:32 EST 2009] Muddy its killer….the stock appears on there even when its not a hod!

[Sun Jan 11 19:32:50 EST 2009] sevenbak But will be?

[Sun Jan 11 19:32:52 EST 2009] Muddy when it bangs it time and again…

[Sun Jan 11 19:32:57 EST 2009] Muddy so..

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:13 EST 2009] Muddy i can get the jump on alot of folks…

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:21 EST 2009] thahound so if it touches the existing HOD, but doesn’t actually go past it, it’ll still show on marketmover list?

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:28 EST 2009] Muddy yup

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:34 EST 2009] Muddy but..

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:42 EST 2009] Laura yes, lots of times they do

[Sun Jan 11 19:33:46 EST 2009] Muddy if you see it teast hod a bunch…

[Sun Jan 11 19:34:05 EST 2009] Muddy odds are very good it’s about to breakout!

[Sun Jan 11 19:34:15 EST 2009] sevenbak From the hod list, you then put the ticker into the qbox?

[Sun Jan 11 19:34:36 EST 2009] InvestorsLive (yes to those PMs this will all be logged and all be put into an easy to understand FAQ type database)

[Sun Jan 11 19:34:56 EST 2009] Muddy pathan (4)…if i ‘m in i’ll use the trailing stop

[Sun Jan 11 19:35:09 EST 2009] merlin does this apply to higher price too the scot hod

[Sun Jan 11 19:35:41 EST 2009] tortexal other cool thing about the HOD flaw is that it’ll at times start to show a stock trending back up from LOD even though its no where near the hod, and you can get a huge jump on it

[Sun Jan 11 19:35:55 EST 2009] Laura yes seven, put it in qbox from hod list

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:11 EST 2009] Muddy merlin,yes

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:19 EST 2009] sevenbak Cool, sequence of how you do it is fundy. Thanks

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:22 EST 2009] merlin ty

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:27 EST 2009] Laura everytime we see one we know on hod list that looks like a runner, we put in Q box

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:42 EST 2009] Muddy hound,EXACTLY

[Sun Jan 11 19:36:56 EST 2009] pathan786 ok ty Muddy

[Sun Jan 11 19:37:06 EST 2009] Muddy thats how i can get the jump on them!

[Sun Jan 11 19:37:27 EST 2009] sevenbak Thank you all, have to run, this has been very helpful!!!

[Sun Jan 11 19:37:38 EST 2009] Muddy remember…

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:11 EST 2009] thahound I’ve seen the watchlist and qbox entries get that yellow flash even if its not HOD, but when its coming up from LOD, like tort was mentioning

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:16 EST 2009] Muddy to see that banging action, you need to see either the qbox or have the stock on your watchlist

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:17 EST 2009] pathan786 Since watchlist only has max 20 stocks, so have to keep flipping across multiple watchlist to catch the “blue” symbols ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:21 EST 2009] Blz Would running Run Forest Run with date offset through out last year(s) be a good way to go back and learn former runners?

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:41 EST 2009] tortexal yes

[Sun Jan 11 19:38:46 EST 2009] Blz k, thanks

[Sun Jan 11 19:39:05 EST 2009] Muddy no i dont care about the blue cause it pertains to only 20 stocks

[Sun Jan 11 19:39:27 EST 2009] Laura pathan, as the morning unfolds I build a new watchlist of hot stocks.

[Sun Jan 11 19:39:51 EST 2009] Muddy thats where remembering symbols come in

[Sun Jan 11 19:39:55 EST 2009] pathan786 and what about the ones from weekly and last night’s @Laura

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:01 EST 2009] pathan786 *scan

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:07 EST 2009] Muddy i have about 300 on my lists for tomorrow…

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:15 EST 2009] Laura then you flip the lists

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:25 EST 2009] Muddy if any hit hit list i’ll know…

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:32 EST 2009] Muddy because ..

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:40 EST 2009] Muddy i plan it ahead…

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:40 EST 2009] pathan786 thats because you remember all of them 🙂

[Sun Jan 11 19:40:49 EST 2009] pablo What does flip the lists mean?

[Sun Jan 11 19:41:02 EST 2009] Muddy i just go over the lists a few times to prepare

[Sun Jan 11 19:41:17 EST 2009] Muddy right,path…

[Sun Jan 11 19:41:33 EST 2009] Muddy thats why you will only get better over time…

[Sun Jan 11 19:41:56 EST 2009] Muddy imo,we have a huge edge over 90% of folks out there

[Sun Jan 11 19:42:10 EST 2009] Muddy flip means to change fast

[Sun Jan 11 19:42:14 EST 2009] pathan786 How can someone gain from the chat if one cannot run the scans daily (but understands the logic involved in diff. scans)

[Sun Jan 11 19:42:26 EST 2009] Muddy one watchlist after another

[Sun Jan 11 19:42:32 EST 2009] maniac Doing this, how many trades per day do you get on average?

[Sun Jan 11 19:42:49 EST 2009] Muddy 20 stocks,20 lists =400 watches

[Sun Jan 11 19:43:02 EST 2009] Muddy about 12

[Sun Jan 11 19:43:33 EST 2009] Muddy path…you didnt read about the dayrangers

[Sun Jan 11 19:43:48 EST 2009] Muddy they are weekly

[Sun Jan 11 19:43:52 EST 2009] johnnyvento Muddy… I’ve noticed through my analysis that you seem to play the stocks from the Deadly Combo scan BEFORE they show up on the weekly DC scan… does that mean you are catching them on the RFR or ADR10 scan… or do you run the DC scan every night? btw I run the DC scan every friday

[Sun Jan 11 19:43:55 EST 2009] che Muddy what is ur usual % gain against total capital at the end of the month

[Sun Jan 11 19:44:16 EST 2009] Muddy i’ve said many times…

[Sun Jan 11 19:44:31 EST 2009] Muddy the dayrangers are for the time crunched

[Sun Jan 11 19:44:43 EST 2009] Muddy 20 mins max on sat or sunday

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:12 EST 2009] Muddy because the dr’s dont change hardly at all week to week

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:23 EST 2009] Muddy have you seen this weeks ones?

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:30 EST 2009] pathan786 let me re-phrase, these are the ones that you already post on your blog so one can pick from there.

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:38 EST 2009] pathan786 yes I did and saved them in my watchlist.

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:54 EST 2009] Muddy yes

[Sun Jan 11 19:45:55 EST 2009] thahound yeah, they’re pretty predictable, the day rangers…I’ve been running the scans for about 6 weeks and notice many of the same

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:08 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 What is the PreList?

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:15 EST 2009] Muddy then you see many on there from last weeks too

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:19 EST 2009] habsfan50 if you see a stock from a watchlist go from red to green, and the risk to reward is great according to adr, is this enough to jump into a trade or do you always look at the qbox and other factors such as volume?

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:28 EST 2009] Muddy the change isnt that big day to day

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:41 EST 2009] Muddy right,hound

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:42 EST 2009] pathan786 yes, I have actually created like 20 watch lists from your blogs from 2006 – 08.

[Sun Jan 11 19:46:51 EST 2009] Muddy wow

[Sun Jan 11 19:47:08 EST 2009] pathan786 and many of them keep appearing.

[Sun Jan 11 19:47:25 EST 2009] monster so your watchlist is only in Scottrade or do you put them elseware?

[Sun Jan 11 19:47:38 EST 2009] Muddy habs….always look qbox but alot of times i’ll go in

[Sun Jan 11 19:47:46 EST 2009] Muddy say 75% of time

[Sun Jan 11 19:47:50 EST 2009] pathan786 would be nice if HOD list would show a “blue” for all watch lists (since I dont remember like you).

[Sun Jan 11 19:48:10 EST 2009] Muddy yup…i talked to them about that

[Sun Jan 11 19:48:31 EST 2009] Muddy that would be awesome

[Sun Jan 11 19:48:56 EST 2009] Muddy but since they dont care about hod list

[Sun Jan 11 19:48:57 EST 2009] krsone Muddy you mentioned the other day that a stock “coiled”, could you explain that please?

[Sun Jan 11 19:49:00 EST 2009] johnnyvento many have contacted scott about improved features but get ignored

[Sun Jan 11 19:49:17 EST 2009] Muddy ahh,the coiled yeah

[Sun Jan 11 19:49:34 EST 2009] Muddy it is when its kinda jiggy…

[Sun Jan 11 19:49:45 EST 2009] Abraxas How often do you hold overnight? Are you more likely to enter a stock several days in a row than to hold O/N?

[Sun Jan 11 19:49:52 EST 2009] Muddy but pps never rises…

[Sun Jan 11 19:50:23 EST 2009] habsfan50 Laura, could you post that link for what the scotts qbox looks like?

[Sun Jan 11 19:50:30 EST 2009] Muddy but everytime the bid drops, the ask never goes down, now….

[Sun Jan 11 19:50:51 EST 2009] Muddy you see the bid get right up against the ask….

[Sun Jan 11 19:51:13 EST 2009] Muddy its like a spring effect, coiled ready to pop

[Sun Jan 11 19:51:28 EST 2009] Laura http://greenonthescreen.blogspot.com/2007/02/1060-sma-crosses-nwacq.html

[Sun Jan 11 19:51:33 EST 2009] krsone thanks

[Sun Jan 11 19:51:53 EST 2009] Muddy Ab,i hold rarely overnight any long

[Sun Jan 11 19:52:11 EST 2009] Muddy a few shorts ala Tim kind

[Sun Jan 11 19:52:22 EST 2009] Abraxas like drys a while back?

[Sun Jan 11 19:52:34 EST 2009] habsfan50 thanks

[Sun Jan 11 19:52:37 EST 2009] Muddy yes and LVS at 16

[Sun Jan 11 19:53:09 EST 2009] Muddy plus the “sliders”

[Sun Jan 11 19:53:24 EST 2009] Muddy the ones i’m in short and vol dying

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:00 EST 2009] Laura any other Qs cuz we are to bed soon

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:06 EST 2009] pathan786 Muddy, you mentioned “flip” a trade on IB. say you are long

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:16 EST 2009] pathan786 1000 stocks and then you flip

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:33 EST 2009] pathan786 does it mean you sell your 1000 and then short 1000 ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:41 EST 2009] Muddy yes

[Sun Jan 11 19:55:42 EST 2009] pathan786 (I dont have IB yet)

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:13 EST 2009] Chase Muddy – what do u use for news alerts?

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:16 EST 2009] pathan786 so I action “flip” does two things ?

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:20 EST 2009] sabir on IB you can sell 2000, which will put you 1000 short

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:23 EST 2009] pathan786 that would be nice (quick)

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:27 EST 2009] pathan786 oh ok

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:41 EST 2009] Laura Chase, we don’t follow news

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:48 EST 2009] tortexal you cna flip w/ any broker, just Sell 2x your position size, or buy 2x your positionsize

[Sun Jan 11 19:56:56 EST 2009] Muddy yes sabir

[Sun Jan 11 19:57:05 EST 2009] pathan786 k thanks@tort

[Sun Jan 11 19:57:11 EST 2009] Chase like FDA/drug approvals etc…

[Sun Jan 11 19:57:25 EST 2009] pathan786 but doesnt scott prompt for trade type — buy/sell/sell short etc

[Sun Jan 11 19:57:28 EST 2009] Muddy no,on pre we look for news

[Sun Jan 11 19:58:06 EST 2009] pablo Thank all of you for taking the time to do this.

[Sun Jan 11 19:58:26 EST 2009] TheKid Thoughts on proprietary trading? I only have 10K to trade with, dont want to break the PDT rule. Can one sign on with a Prop Trading Company and trade from home? Any thoughts or suggestions?

[Sun Jan 11 19:58:26 EST 2009] lighter pathan, i believe TDAmeritrade setup same way

[Sun Jan 11 19:58:37 EST 2009] monster yeah thanks guy’s that has ansered alot of my questions. You rule… Bless you all…

[Sun Jan 11 19:58:50 EST 2009] lighter we use IB. IL uses SpeedTrade

[Sun Jan 11 19:59:07 EST 2009] tortexal http://www.tradersnarrative.com/list-of-proprietary-trading-firms-735.html

[Sun Jan 11 19:59:09 EST 2009] tortexal prop firms

[Sun Jan 11 19:59:16 EST 2009] monster yall like TOS?

[Sun Jan 11 19:59:29 EST 2009] pablo lighter, why do you consider scot a terrible broker?

[Sun Jan 11 19:59:36 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 Muddy, can you explain how the trade on CTTYQ worked, the other day, for example, when it came onto the list, how you planned your entry, and so on?

[Sun Jan 11 20:00:04 EST 2009] Fullback Thanks Muddy and Mods

[Sun Jan 11 20:00:47 EST 2009] pathan786 IL – Would this chat be available in “after hours chat” apart from FAQ .

[Sun Jan 11 20:01:24 EST 2009] Muddy pablo..i would

[Sun Jan 11 20:01:55 EST 2009] Muddy NYC…

[Sun Jan 11 20:02:01 EST 2009] habsfan50 How much does the general market conditions during the day influence your trading? or is there a way you can tell that you should be shorting more than going long, or does it even matter?

[Sun Jan 11 20:02:13 EST 2009] lighter pablo: you cant short under $5, few borrows, crappy platform (outside of hod list and qbox) among others

[Sun Jan 11 20:02:26 EST 2009] Muddy first,it was a hit very late on pre at 9:26

[Sun Jan 11 20:02:45 EST 2009] lighter IB commish cheaper too

[Sun Jan 11 20:03:04 EST 2009] Muddy i just jumped it on open…being a “Q” stock

[Sun Jan 11 20:03:32 EST 2009] InvestorsLive NYC here’s another way to trade as well something I do a bit differently … just like I speak there are different “Molds” of Muddys strategy it wouldn’t work as well if you are under the PDT but CTTYQ for example – I purchased at .215 and it immediately jumped I locked in profits right away because I have and always will have an itchy finger. I like to lock in my profits

[Sun Jan 11 20:03:37 EST 2009] Muddy habs, very little if at all

[Sun Jan 11 20:03:49 EST 2009] InvestorsLive but at the same time it gives me more breathing room on the dips and lets me really ride out my winner

[Sun Jan 11 20:03:55 EST 2009] Muddy if need be i’ll short stuff if no momos long

[Sun Jan 11 20:04:09 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I bought at .215 and sold 1/4 at .235 giving me some breathing room on both dips back to .21-.22 range

[Sun Jan 11 20:04:38 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 thanks, where would you put a stop on a .21 stock?

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:02 EST 2009] InvestorsLive probably under that

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:09 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 .19?

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive but the momentum with the Q’s lately I was comfertable sitting in it

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:26 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I’d probably let it test he .20s

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:31 EST 2009] InvestorsLive that morning

[Sun Jan 11 20:05:42 EST 2009] InvestorsLive see if it test .20s and a bidder comes up to .205 back to .21 etc

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:04 EST 2009] InvestorsLive pathan – yes EVERYTHING tonight will be available semi-immediately in chat log form

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:07 EST 2009] NYCTrader01 got it, thanks

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:15 EST 2009] deathgazer 2 cent stop seems low for 1000 shares

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:16 EST 2009] InvestorsLive over the next week I will be breaking it down into a knowledge base

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:18 EST 2009] desitrader Muddy, IB – you use bundled or un-bundled fee structure?

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:20 EST 2009] habsfan50 when you say no momos long, are you talking no nhod stocks, or just stocks hitting new of days with no thrust?

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:26 EST 2009] InvestorsLive yes death – if it was 1000 shares sure

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:28 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I’d let it ride

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:33 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I play a bit different

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive a bit bigger

[Sun Jan 11 20:06:56 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I had 20k at .215, sold 235 5k, some more .255

[Sun Jan 11 20:07:03 EST 2009] InvestorsLive my positions get smaller towards EOD

[Sun Jan 11 20:07:18 EST 2009] deathgazer ok understandable

[Sun Jan 11 20:07:21 EST 2009] InvestorsLive its just a mold of what Muddy does

[Sun Jan 11 20:07:56 EST 2009] greg Thanks to all admin for this seminar i understand more now and am lookig foward to the next one. See you all tomorrow.

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:11 EST 2009] pablo I am freaked out about the fills on scot…and the length of time it can take to process the order…when you are trying to get in and out fast…never know when it weill happen.

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:31 EST 2009] Laura desi, bundled

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:36 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Pablo if you have slow fills on nasdaq stocks.. that’s when you know you have an issue 🙂

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:43 EST 2009] InvestorsLive OTCBBs is one thing, Nasdaq… no way

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:44 EST 2009] Muddy habs, you can see a dead trend some days, the longs are just choppy

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:54 EST 2009] desitrader thx Laura

[Sun Jan 11 20:08:56 EST 2009] pablo thanks

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:18 EST 2009] Muddy pab,yes i hated the time of fills on scott

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:19 EST 2009] John doh IL, do you feel you have enough knowledge in the markets to trade a day or two without the help of other traders? Just curious.

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:26 EST 2009] Muddy IB is split second

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:29 EST 2009] tortexal sometimes you get that lag on fills bc the broker will try to sell/buy it internally in their brokerage, lots places do this, scott is pos so im sure they do

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:41 EST 2009] InvestorsLive John I have been trading for 5 years

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:48 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I met Muddy and Co earlier this year

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:49 EST 2009] InvestorsLive well last year

[Sun Jan 11 20:09:57 EST 2009] Muddy Scott does do it,tort

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:06 EST 2009] Muddy they play against you

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:07 EST 2009] John doh That’s awesome.

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:11 EST 2009] pablo Isn’t that ripping you off?

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:23 EST 2009] tortexal technically yes

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:27 EST 2009] Muddy its legal though

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:36 EST 2009] InvestorsLive John- I used to trade AAPL GOOG BIDU all day every day – and found myself semi-burnt out at the end of each day watching every single tick

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:51 EST 2009] InvestorsLive then came and applied what i know to this strategy

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:54 EST 2009] pablo That’s what I needed yo know

[Sun Jan 11 20:10:59 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and find it a lot more rewarding, less money at risk

[Sun Jan 11 20:11:04 EST 2009] InvestorsLive AND feel good at the end of the day

[Sun Jan 11 20:11:10 EST 2009] John doh That’s what I’m doing now… I’m finally letting go of my emotions.

[Sun Jan 11 20:11:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive you can actually go to the bathroom.. or catcha cup of coffee

[Sun Jan 11 20:11:31 EST 2009] Muddy yes IL… (Jan 11-23:10) InvestorsLive: and find it a lot more rewarding, less money at risk

[Sun Jan 11 20:11:44 EST 2009] Muddy less risk

[Sun Jan 11 20:12:14 EST 2009] thahound gotta let go of the emotions–every day I grow colder toweard this thing

[Sun Jan 11 20:12:22 EST 2009] thahound but the profits keep warming me up

[Sun Jan 11 20:12:24 EST 2009] thahound so it balances

[Sun Jan 11 20:12:41 EST 2009] thahound zenlike

[Sun Jan 11 20:12:50 EST 2009] pathan786 honestly, at this point I am looking to do more of money management per trade as per my risk level and just follow Muddy – till I get a grasp on the numerous little things. Is that a right strategy ?

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:12 EST 2009] pathan786 and then analyze why Muddy did what he did

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:18 EST 2009] Muddy just take a few this week that were huge gainers some of us caught in chat….

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:22 EST 2009] InvestorsLive pathan you can always use paper trading account

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:24 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and see how you do

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:35 EST 2009] randy841 ge all

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive think or swim has one.. in fact BgShW44 in chat here.. has been using one

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:41 EST 2009] InvestorsLive the past 2 weeks

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:42 EST 2009] pathan786 I have been trading with 1000 – 1500$ per trade @ IL

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:43 EST 2009] hfilty do you place your order on the pre market late hits after the first 5 minutes or at open

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:46 EST 2009] John doh My plan is to lock in a few hundred each week with say.. 3-5 trades per week to start and enjoy the rest of the day (at work). Just to start off.

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:47 EST 2009] InvestorsLive before putting his own $$ in

[Sun Jan 11 20:13:56 EST 2009] InvestorsLive that’s teh best way to do it.. it’s free and doesn’t cost you losses

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:21 EST 2009] randy841 in terms of setup for oscillators .. does everyone generally use the 26/12/9 setup or variations for rapid trading?

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:26 EST 2009] Muddy usually 5 mins or so,a few i just push buy at open

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:37 EST 2009] randy841 thats for MACD 12/26/9

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:38 EST 2009] thahound But it’s hartder to get over the psychological aspects when you’re not trading your own moneuy

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:38 EST 2009] pathan786 and thought I have n’t had a loss per say but I havent gained a loss – because I am weak on Exits.

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:40 EST 2009] Muddy the e/r ones and drugs usually

[Sun Jan 11 20:14:50 EST 2009] Muddy but listen…

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:01 EST 2009] thahound I’ve learned more in 6 weeks of real money day and swinging trading every day than i had ever doing paper stuff

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:07 EST 2009] Muddy this is something we didn’t touch yet…

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:15 EST 2009] mjones0418 I’m looking at GOTS and see the dayrangers from 1 to 10. I ran the StockFetcher scan and came up with different stocks (i.e. CHRS is on StockFetcher as the 6th) stock but its not on GOTS.

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:18 EST 2009] Muddy the pre price action….

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:18 EST 2009] randy841 Muddy you never trade on charts? not even the 10/60 up/down?

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:31 EST 2009] Muddy it can tell you a bunch…

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:35 EST 2009] Abraxas So looking at charts for support and res is of little importance in this strategy?

[Sun Jan 11 20:15:44 EST 2009] Muddy randy,rarely now

[Sun Jan 11 20:16:19 EST 2009] Muddy yes,but the night gbefore mostly ,randy

[Sun Jan 11 20:16:19 EST 2009] pathan786 10/60 is what I like the most :)) because I seem to have understood better than all the rest techniques

[Sun Jan 11 20:16:27 EST 2009] Muddy back to this…

[Sun Jan 11 20:16:35 EST 2009] hfilty so what are you looking for in pre price action, thanks

[Sun Jan 11 20:16:37 EST 2009] Muddy the pre price action….

[Sun Jan 11 20:17:00 EST 2009] Muddy path,it works

[Sun Jan 11 20:17:24 EST 2009] Muddy say a stock is up 20% in pre at (am

[Sun Jan 11 20:17:30 EST 2009] Muddy 9am

[Sun Jan 11 20:17:55 EST 2009] Muddy then it dips to 10% 10 mins before open…

[Sun Jan 11 20:18:16 EST 2009] Muddy then it starts to rise to 15% right near open..

[Sun Jan 11 20:18:38 EST 2009] Muddy odds are very good it will pass that 20% easy

[Sun Jan 11 20:18:41 EST 2009] pathan786 then its 10min would be < 60 min SMA and when it cross again, time to buy ?

[Sun Jan 11 20:18:54 EST 2009] Muddy its like a running start

[Sun Jan 11 20:19:04 EST 2009] InvestorsLive The fade many times you’ll see me, tort, Muddy say watching for the fade.. here is what I look for with a fade: https://i33.tinypic.com/im2kyf.png That’s what I would call a succesful fade – slowly lower highs, starts hitting lower lows and then boom the flush

[Sun Jan 11 20:19:06 EST 2009] deathgazer sorry what is the 10/60.. is it 10 MA cross 60 MA

[Sun Jan 11 20:19:59 EST 2009] Muddy death, yes, its expained on the GOTS blog….

[Sun Jan 11 20:20:02 EST 2009] InvestorsLive so so u know if I ever say.. “watching for the fade near EOD” or watching for the fade once it hits green/red

[Sun Jan 11 20:20:07 EST 2009] Muddy its on a link

[Sun Jan 11 20:20:27 EST 2009] pathan786 Muddy – I tried it with gtcb the other day (didnt know about red floater – kiss of death then)

[Sun Jan 11 20:20:30 EST 2009] Muddy on darkside and GOTS…with snapshots

[Sun Jan 11 20:20:52 EST 2009] pathan786 picked at .6514, went to .72 or something. didn’t sell (Exits are my weakness)

[Sun Jan 11 20:21:10 EST 2009] pathan786 held overnight and now I hear it has an FDA news pending, ha

[Sun Jan 11 20:21:35 EST 2009] John doh pathan – small profits are my new startegy. small gains each day add up.

[Sun Jan 11 20:21:46 EST 2009] pathan786 thats my other weakness 🙂

[Sun Jan 11 20:21:53 EST 2009] pathan786 @ John doh

[Sun Jan 11 20:21:56 EST 2009] randy841 ok Muddy

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:16 EST 2009] thahound Pathan, GTCB was the first fade that really made me realize what a fade was

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:18 EST 2009] Muddy also with the pre’s…

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:27 EST 2009] John doh $100.00 a day 30 days a month just shot your income up 20k a year

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:40 EST 2009] Derffie only 22 trading days a month

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:41 EST 2009] Muddy you watch ones way up around 9am

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:53 EST 2009] pathan786 thahound – I didnt pick it at open, it picked it at day’s lows

[Sun Jan 11 20:22:56 EST 2009] Muddy you can see them dropping gradual…

[Sun Jan 11 20:23:07 EST 2009] pathan786 when it was making a reversal — like Muddy explained above

[Sun Jan 11 20:23:33 EST 2009] Muddy listen to this for a second……

[Sun Jan 11 20:23:33 EST 2009] pathan786 when down 5 – 10% and started to reverse – so r/r is high since the ADR is 20%

[Sun Jan 11 20:24:06 EST 2009] Muddy ones on the pre leader list that go red are great shorts

[Sun Jan 11 20:24:30 EST 2009] Muddy not many a week, but another big edge i have

[Sun Jan 11 20:25:03 EST 2009] Muddy and ones falling steady off big hoghs on pre

[Sun Jan 11 20:30:18 EST 2009] pathan786 Muddy & IL – I have at times noticed, that after Muddy alerts, the jiggyness and price goes up – just curious if its because of all the eyes in the chat room. which would mean that some of us here would be getting out at even or a loss ?

[Sun Jan 11 20:30:30 EST 2009] Muddy yes NFLD

[Sun Jan 11 20:30:36 EST 2009] amark Also thanks

[Sun Jan 11 20:31:42 EST 2009] pathan786 or has exited

[Sun Jan 11 20:31:49 EST 2009] InvestorsLive we play stocks based on our scans which provide us with vol alerts

[Sun Jan 11 20:31:51 EST 2009] pathan786 and at that time, they are stilll holding.

[Sun Jan 11 20:31:52 EST 2009] Muddy its because i saw something in that stock…

[Sun Jan 11 20:37:58 EST 2009] pathan786 so which ones to follow ?

[Sun Jan 11 20:38:01 EST 2009] Muddy thats what we are trying to teach here

[Sun Jan 11 20:38:12 EST 2009] Muddy how to recognize an entry

[Sun Jan 11 20:38:31 EST 2009] Muddy exactlty,lucky!

[Sun Jan 11 20:38:36 EST 2009] maniac Is there a way to get an alarm/noise when Muddy makes an alert?

[Sun Jan 11 20:38:49 EST 2009] Muddy i wish

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:12 EST 2009] pathan786 with the intra-day ones it is difficult to do all DD – like 3 month, daily chart with bollinger bands, RSI and Muddy zone analysis

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:27 EST 2009] pathan786 its like jiggyness is happening, get in .. now!

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:31 EST 2009] pathan786 or its too late

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:32 EST 2009] Muddy that’s why it takes time

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:52 EST 2009] randy841 those who got in C a/h Fri may be some good news tomorrow p/m “Citigroup May Book $10 Billion Gain on Brokerage Deal With Morgan Stanley “

[Sun Jan 11 20:39:53 EST 2009] Muddy this is a profession really unless a hobby to you

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:07 EST 2009] Muddy you dont learn a profession overnight

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:12 EST 2009] ph4nt0m have scenario drawn up and ready to go path

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive exactly Muddy

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:22 EST 2009] pathan786 Only DD that can be done (by me) is Jiggyness, 10/60 cross and B x A analysis

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:23 EST 2009] InvestorsLive but pathan.. in answer to ur question

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:32 EST 2009] pathan786 for Intra-days.

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:40 EST 2009] InvestorsLive it may mean its a buy it may mean its a watch but over time… if you pull them up as they happen

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:44 EST 2009] InvestorsLive and alerts fly by etc

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:47 EST 2009] pathan786 and that doesn’t tell if it was actually a red floater

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:48 EST 2009] InvestorsLive you’ll get a feel for it

[Sun Jan 11 20:40:49 EST 2009] InvestorsLive trust me

[Sun Jan 11 20:41:02 EST 2009] InvestorsLive the best thing you can do is to do scans.. pull up the charts.. look back at it etc

[Sun Jan 11 20:41:31 EST 2009] BgShW44 i would definately reccomend paper trading first, gives you a feel and creates your own method that you are comfortable with in tandum with the chat

[Sun Jan 11 20:41:33 EST 2009] Derffie pathan… you can do volume increase and previous resistance levels as well

[Sun Jan 11 20:41:51 EST 2009] pathan786 Laura said there is no chart analysis for intra day ones

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:00 EST 2009] pathan786 I can understand for the weekly and daily scans –

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:22 EST 2009] Muddy yes,the “feel”,it does come…

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:34 EST 2009] pathan786 but for intraday from what i have grasped — ponly price/volume/jiggyness/10x60coss and B x A analysis

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:37 EST 2009] Muddy i’ve had a chat over 6 years now…

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:52 EST 2009] habsfan50 do you find often that you’ll buy in a stock and have to wait through a pullback before it goes your way?

[Sun Jan 11 20:42:54 EST 2009] Muddy i’ve seen hundreds come and go…

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:09 EST 2009] Muddy they werent serious

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:13 EST 2009] InvestorsLive It’s true Muddy

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:18 EST 2009] Muddy i cant teach that

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:27 EST 2009] Muddy if not serious

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:32 EST 2009] InvestorsLive so many do come and go… but

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:37 EST 2009] InvestorsLive it always falls back to the basics

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive ALWAYS

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:55 EST 2009] InvestorsLive the other thing too guys .. say you do take a loss….

[Sun Jan 11 20:43:58 EST 2009] monster People want stuff the free lazy way without DD. That’s not good.

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:02 EST 2009] InvestorsLive this is something I see happen A LOT

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:07 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 I know it’s almost midnight… and if not appropirate, I’ll ask another time… but I’m still not 100% clear on how to “run” scans and what exactly I’m looking for when I run these scans… perhaps we can make this a seminar topic in the near future?

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:14 EST 2009] InvestorsLive You take a loss.. so the next time.. you go in twice 3x as big

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:21 EST 2009] InvestorsLive to try to make it all back on the next trade

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:24 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 if someone can PM

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:29 EST 2009] InvestorsLive never do that

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:34 EST 2009] InvestorsLive keep plugging you’ll make it back

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:39 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 so I can ask a couple q’s…

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:48 EST 2009] BgShW44 i have got to the point where when someone points out what is nearing its hod, i can feel when to get in and out. cant wait to learn how to do the scans myself!

[Sun Jan 11 20:44:49 EST 2009] monster lol I did that the other day. It went my way though. hehe

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:00 EST 2009] InvestorsLive sometimes it does monster

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:10 EST 2009] InvestorsLive but if you’ve only got one shot and you’re playing with hard earned money

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:13 EST 2009] InvestorsLive treat it that way..

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:29 EST 2009] InvestorsLive if you take a chance 2-3x what you normally do.. just be ok with a loss 2-3x the size you normally take

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:43 EST 2009] Muddy noob…run scans for watches, you chart them quick to get an idea of what the action has been

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:49 EST 2009] pathan786 I am the reverse of you right now @ BgShW44 – I am more comfortable with a chart analysis for a swing trade type situation — but not with entry exit on Intra-day yet.

[Sun Jan 11 20:45:54 EST 2009] monster yeah I see your point. I new I should not do that because I need to stick to my plan not double up on my plan.

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:22 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 I understand that part…. I was just looking at GOTS… and the dayrangers for the upcoming week…

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:26 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 and…

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:41 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 Ranked from highest ADR30 to lowest after they hit the ADR10 high % scan. Stocks from this scan that have increased their ADR10 over their ADR30 by at least 2%,in order of highest change…..

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:45 EST 2009] BgShW44 pathan786, how long did it take you to learn how to do scans overnight for stocks to watch?

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:46 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 the above… I don’t get

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:48 EST 2009] Muddy the dayrangers are the basic and best imo

[Sun Jan 11 20:46:59 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 yes

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:15 EST 2009] mjones0418 Thank you all for a very interesting session. GN.

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:19 EST 2009] pablo Muddy. do you watch or care about the futures?

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:20 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 but when running the DAYRANGERS scan… do I run ADR10 & ADR 30 together?

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:25 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 or seperate?

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:31 EST 2009] Muddy what part..the highest to lowest?

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:50 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 ok, right now, when I run a scan, I have ADR30

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:53 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 as default

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:53 EST 2009] InvestorsLive pablo – NO

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:58 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 should I add ADR10?

[Sun Jan 11 20:47:59 EST 2009] pathan786 I have been looking at charts for a while @BgShW44 – but started looking at specific things mentioned in Muddy blogs recently

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:08 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 or keep it in a seperate scan?

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:14 EST 2009] Muddy no dont watch futures

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:16 EST 2009] monster LOL I tried to run scans until I could narrow it down to the one perfect stock it does not work.

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:31 EST 2009] Muddy no it doesnt

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:42 EST 2009] pathan786 few stocks that I charted had similar patterns – beaten down stocks making a reversal

[Sun Jan 11 20:48:45 EST 2009] BgShW44 yeah i need to learn the paramaters to run, what platform to use etc.. but im really good at intra day analysis

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:02 EST 2009] LuckyCharms noob…

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:06 EST 2009] LuckyCharms Add column Average Day Range(30)

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:07 EST 2009] Muddy thats why i run a bunch of scans and add to my watchlist

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:07 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 LC

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:12 EST 2009] Muddy i react

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:14 EST 2009] pathan786 BB (20,2), EMA10 SMA 30 , RSI2 and Volume @ MhShWW44

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:15 EST 2009] monster the coding for the scans are a blast to play with.

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:22 EST 2009] LuckyCharms then sort that plus make one for adr(10)

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:23 EST 2009] pathan786 IL – feel free to add if I missed

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:29 EST 2009] hfilty i have been using market orders with IB and my entries and exites are always bad( due to bad fill), so i want to switch to limit orders, but i have never placed a limit order before. do i just buy on the current or set it a bit above the ask, or i do not have any idea what i m talking about. can som

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:47 EST 2009] maniac with IB, how much commision you pay on say 2000 sh of $1.50 stock?

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:50 EST 2009] habsfan50 Muddy, do you often buy into a stock and have to sit through a pullback before it heads in your direction? or the stock should head your direction right away?

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:50 EST 2009] BgShW44 yeah i have no idea how to enter those parameters/where to

[Sun Jan 11 20:49:57 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 Charms… ok… so you can see them next to eachother… right?

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:06 EST 2009] InvestorsLive Limit orders……….

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:08 EST 2009] Muddy i’m missing the questions…are there any i missed

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:18 EST 2009] pathan786 You can add on your broker’s charting tools or else finance.yahoo.com has all of them too

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:25 EST 2009] InvestorsLive All a limit order is .. is just saying buy at X price and don’t pay any higher

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:26 EST 2009] monster boxers or briefs? haha

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:26 EST 2009] hfilty yes limit orders

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:27 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 then you can make an assessment on the difference between the two and if ADR10 is higher than ADR 30… what does that mean?

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:43 EST 2009] InvestorsLive It’s whatever price you want to purchase at, if its thinly traded I may give it a few pennies, if you have level 2 you can see the size on the offer

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:50 EST 2009] LuckyCharms yea, this is my full scan with adr5 and adr2 add on….

[Sun Jan 11 20:50:55 EST 2009] InvestorsLive so if there is 5,000 shares there and you are only buying 1,000 shares you can just hit the offer

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:00 EST 2009] chasdabigone and average day range(30) is less than average day range(10)

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:01 EST 2009] LuckyCharms show stocks where the average day range(10) is above 8 percent and close price is between 1 and 15 and volume is above 300000 and Add column Average Day Range(30) and add column average day range(10) and add column average day range(5) and add column average day range(2) and sort column 5 descending

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:16 EST 2009] Muddy because the ADR10 is increasing over ADR30 it means its a hot watch

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:33 EST 2009] InvestorsLive if its something that you’re looking to buy 2k, theres 500 shares immediate offer and not really sure what is above it… what price are you comfertable with.. so you just say.. trading 1.15 now… limit order 1.17 and you’ll fill the best price up to 1.17

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:35 EST 2009] Muddy hotter than normal

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:36 EST 2009] Chase Muddy! Thank you so much for sharing the valuable information!

[Sun Jan 11 20:51:42 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 hot watch to long or short? depenign on g2r or r2g?

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:28 EST 2009] pablo IL do you know what the various colors on level 2 mean?

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:28 EST 2009] Muddy the risk/reward if you are right

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:35 EST 2009] Noobtrader.08 yes

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:53 EST 2009] Muddy KFN an example

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:54 EST 2009] InvestorsLive its just a way to split it up

[Sun Jan 11 20:52:58 EST 2009] hfilty but the problem is that i am buying hods and they are moving so fast, so by the time i will place limit order price that price will not get hit

[Sun Jan 11 20:53:04 EST 2009] InvestorsLive its a visual aid pablo

[Sun Jan 11 20:53:15 EST 2009] InvestorsLive show’s teh debth

[Sun Jan 11 20:53:32 EST 2009] InvestorsLive this isn’t wise trade…

[Sun Jan 11 20:53:38 EST 2009] InvestorsLive we don’t use colors to buy and sell 🙂

[Sun Jan 11 20:58:58 EST 2009] InvestorsLive haha

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:03 EST 2009] pathan786 The reason is — I dont like to enter more than one stock at a time.

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:23 EST 2009] InvestorsLive sure..

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:30 EST 2009] InvestorsLive I dont like to carry more than 3 or 4 at once either pathan

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:42 EST 2009] pathan786 Early in the morning there are many alerts going out, I pick one and after my DD, I decide to enter one — which at that point of time appears to be heading higher

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:49 EST 2009] pathan786 but ends up being (relatively) dud

[Sun Jan 11 20:59:55 EST 2009] GLOBALSS same here no more then 3 to 4 stocks

[Sun Jan 11 21:00:11 EST 2009] InvestorsLive You don’t always need to enter right in the morning, I dont like to trade the first 10 minutes either sometimes
