Seminar for 2nd of January – Member Q and A, Trading Pumps, Positioning

by | Jan 3, 2012

[Jan 2, 2012 8:00:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive We’ll do the same format as always – I’m going question by question for those who sent them in – thank you!

[Jan 2, 2012 8:01:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Quite a bit this time however not too many with visuals tho, so I’d like to cover some recent trades/charts after with the visuals

[Jan 2, 2012 8:01:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so please if questions ask on topic, I will ask after each question

[Jan 2, 2012 8:01:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive otherwise I’ll open it up at the end

[Jan 2, 2012 8:02:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive We’ll talk NSRS first – I had about 5 questions there

[Jan 2, 2012 8:02:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://profit.ly/1Mmhlo http://profit.ly/1Mmhew http://profit.ly/1Mmhg8 http://profit.ly/1Mmhg9 http://profit.ly/1Mmhlb

[Jan 2, 2012 8:03:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Makes sense – everyone wants to know how to replicate it

[Jan 2, 2012 8:03:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it always happens after a bigger profit

[Jan 2, 2012 8:03:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but fact is those trades are 1 and 1000 … sure they happen a lot to us

[Jan 2, 2012 8:03:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive since we focus on the newsletters but …. it’s not always that easy

[Jan 2, 2012 8:03:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: About NSRS, the position you took on this one was way bigger than your normal trades I think. Why did u take such decision?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:04:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive This is an easy question … easy answer! Because it was a NO BRAINER given their last trade. As you know and as I always tell people – I constantly keep abreast of what’s hot, who is hot and given crazypennystocks and all their sister sites had absolutely hit it out of the park on AMWI .12 to $1.40 you know their next one is going to be ridiculous.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:04:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Just the best way to trade these if you’re going to be active in the penny stock pumps. People get ‘mad’ at me as expressed in a scan last week that quite simply I’m not just going to tell you what websites to subscribe to, that’s not my service. I posted NSRS in chat at .165 and said CRAZYPENNY confirmed.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:05:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive They are constantly changing things constantly splitting list and occasionally adding sites (so does PennyPic) if you have the drive to succeed this is one way everyone can gain an edge – by constantly sifting through the trash/spam/stock touts and finding out which are related.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:05:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive going to do a couple NSRS questions and then ask

[Jan 2, 2012 8:06:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Can you please review NSRS chart and explain when you entered and exited and your reasoning behind it.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:06:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Entry we all know, .18-.22 range … added dips mostly at .205 range as stated in chat. We all know why, no brainer next crazypenny pump following AMWI. I exited some right away because I’m not greedy had a nice move, moved straight up into the close and took a little over 1/2 profits into the close. I don’t know about you but $15k profits inside of an hour is not something I can turn down – so .. I took them.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:06:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Lastly, given locking in that amount I gave the last 175,000 shares a chance had I not locked the $$ in I probably would have been more antsy and ready to sell keep in mind every penny was $1750 and I was letting it bounce around +/- $4,000-$7500 before taking the additional $20k realized profits the following day.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:07:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive do you guys have any questions related to those 2 questions so far?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:07:58 PM EST]        tradernyc            So u took $ off since you were happy nothing to do with chart or level 2 looking bad?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:08:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive correct it’s no different than if I nail a breakout and up instant $500 bucks

[Jan 2, 2012 8:08:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive in 30 seconds

[Jan 2, 2012 8:08:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive why wouldn’t I locked a few bucks in?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:08:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive in addition on these types of trades I know I WANT to hold some …

[Jan 2, 2012 8:08:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and the only way I am going to do that is why riding free shares or houses $$

[Jan 2, 2012 8:09:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive aka locking in a bunch and riding the rest

[Jan 2, 2012 8:09:06 PM EST]        sfk10     how do you decide how much lock in vs hold on to?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:09:26 PM EST]        TGJN7   Do u expect a likely gap up on NSRS?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:10:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sfk10 – I locked in 1/2 about but had another 100k shares out there I didn’t cancel and filled those too so kept 1/3

[Jan 2, 2012 8:10:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive TGJN7 – Did I expect it to gap the next day? Yes that’s why I held figured at least a few days out of it

[Jan 2, 2012 8:10:45 PM EST]        sfk10     so you usually try lock in 1/2 the profits? and hold the rest?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:10:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if you’re referring to tomorrow let’s keep to what we’re dicussing please for now will open it up later on – but yes given that it’s pennypic tomorrow I’d say it’ll gap and continue on it’s way

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sfk10 – yes usually lock in at least some

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive 1/3 1/2 depends on action really

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:13 PM EST]        sfk10     ok

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any further questions related to the 2 NSRS questions above?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:39 PM EST]        tradernyc            all good

[Jan 2, 2012 8:11:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: When you initially bought ABOT & NSRS on pennypic/crazypenny confirm what broker(s) did you submit buy orders through and in what order? Basically I wanna know what all your top brokers are for speedy buy executions on these confirmed pumps.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:12:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I used NITE route which is what I typically use. Broker doesn’t really matter since I used AB Watley for the NSRS trade but the point is I had NITE route. Had I used SpeedTrader and WHEN I used SpeedTrader I used NITE as well. Overall I tend to use NITE unless someone else is more liquid which I may do .. just keep in mind you need extra buying power to be able to send lots of routes to the offer and hope one or two fills. I may have used AUTO had I still had that route available – Thinkorswim has this route which is another market maker Wilson Davis uses (WDCO) on these pumps.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:12:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I was in a bunch of Nasdaq stuff (given that I keep my accounts typically ‘low’) I didn’t have BP for it .. so I always have my back acct for these trades which has NITE route

[Jan 2, 2012 8:13:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but I woulda used SpeedTrader as I did every other day

[Jan 2, 2012 8:13:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive the main point is NITE usually best, others are ok if active but nothing usually better than the main retail route

[Jan 2, 2012 8:13:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions related to this topic?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:13:42 PM EST]        tradernyc            Nite is expensive though no?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:13:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive no?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:14:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive NITE FREE

[Jan 2, 2012 8:14:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive yes very expensive

[Jan 2, 2012 8:14:22 PM EST]        TGJN7   Is it generally harder to exit in on panic dumps with stocks like NSRS if they tank than with any standard stock?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:14:36 PM EST]        tradernyc            sorry dont know why i thought so. apologize

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive absolutely harder to fill after a stock like NSRS turns

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s why I always suggest locking into strength

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but then again – Nasdaq stocks drop immediately so you have a .80 cent drop in a split second

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:48 PM EST]        TGJN7   so slippage on mkt orders would be tough and limits harder to quickly sell, so sell into strength

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:52 PM EST]        chedl823              why some brokers don’t have NSRS??

[Jan 2, 2012 8:15:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive vs. locked routes for 10-20 minutes on the slide before you fill – so take your pick

[Jan 2, 2012 8:16:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive well that’s why you don’t use market orders TGJN7 – pointless

[Jan 2, 2012 8:16:35 PM EST]        TGJN7   I meant when trying to get out fast, lol

[Jan 2, 2012 8:16:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive NSRS – restricted at some brokers, odd volume etc – they are ‘protecting’ client, you can always call them if you’re really curious and see what they have to say

[Jan 2, 2012 8:17:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive even with market order – still risk when you’re trying to ‘get out fast’ you’ll fill when it’s ready to turn

[Jan 2, 2012 8:17:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive just use a lower limit so you know your risk

[Jan 2, 2012 8:17:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I prey off market sellers like you for big bounce plays 🙂

[Jan 2, 2012 8:17:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so for that I thank you

[Jan 2, 2012 8:17:44 PM EST]        TGJN7   lol

[Jan 2, 2012 8:18:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any further questions related to this?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:18:11 PM EST]        TGJN7   my Q was hypothetical IL, LOL

[Jan 2, 2012 8:18:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive let’s keep hypotheticals to a min – got enough Qs

[Jan 2, 2012 8:18:35 PM EST]        spiderdan04       how long do the pumps last?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:18:44 PM EST]        spiderdan04       of a particular stock

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive between 1 hour and longer

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:15 PM EST]        tradernyc            lol

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive well between 1 minute and longer

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t know?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:38 PM EST]        ChopStockTrader             LEXG? months

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: When u bought the dip of NSRS what was the indication in L2 that lead you to buy, was it stacked with BIDS?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:19:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Not at all, I bought into the panic. If you buy when the bids get stacked you’re already late and probably not able to fill anyway. Buying the dip is a very risky strategy which a) you have to be familiar with the risk and ok with the downside IF you are wrong and b) you need to be on the opposite side of the trade sensing the panic and monitoring level 2, time and sales and volume.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:20:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive There is a whole lot that goes into it, I only trade bounces with serious in the past and/or current promotion. I don’t trade random drops, I don’t trade every drop. I typically trade the first drop after a big promo and then leave it alone after that. Once it’s on the back side of the promo each bounce tends to get weaker and weaker.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:20:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive There is no clear cut answer I can give you on how to play a bounce, my suggestion is to learn the same way I did. WATCH. Watch Level 2, Watch time and sales, watch the chart and watch the volume, and … watch someone like me, Rock (ModernRock), harbs, synapze (all these guys mostly on ihub) but all of which I have known for a long time and are great bounce players. Over time you’ll see it again and again get a feel for it and start small and when you’re ready, you’re ready. Until then, WATCH.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:21:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive alright got a few more questions related to NSRS I tried to pair them all up to get them out of the way – any time there is a big pump or big profit I always get a lot of questions few more then we move on to the other stuff

[Jan 2, 2012 8:21:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any questions related to bounce plays on this after reading what I wrote?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:21:32 PM EST]        TGJN7   You are referring to bounces on dumped pumps that washout in panic and bottom fishing that?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m answering the question listed

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive the first panic drop – listed above

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/LXFTKIKETV.png

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:43 PM EST]        Laura I typically trade the first drop after a big promo and then leave it alone after that.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:48 PM EST]        Laura what he said

[Jan 2, 2012 8:22:52 PM EST]        TGJN7   thnx

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive when I nailed dead bottom in chat – the video I have one day I’ll upload it

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but when we nailed it .305 or whateve rit was

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive instant $1900 bucks

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so it’s always a popular topic the answer is there is no clear cut answer

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive nailing the bounce is something you learn over time

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive not only does it invovle what I said above

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but it’s gut feeling

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive intuition

[Jan 2, 2012 8:23:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive after it turns, does it uptick on air? or continued to get sold into etc

[Jan 2, 2012 8:24:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so its something you DEVELOP

[Jan 2, 2012 8:24:04 PM EST]        hurleydood        there was like a 7m bid

[Jan 2, 2012 8:24:16 PM EST]        TGJN7   But you have to not wait too long as you intimated above?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:24:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive hurley – there was a 2m bid after it bounces which you wouldn’t have filled after it turned

[Jan 2, 2012 8:24:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive until about .34

[Jan 2, 2012 8:25:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: How come you don’t reverse your position on a stock after selling off. For example, when sold off your NSRS longs why didn’t switch your position to short and short sell some NSRS? Seems like it might one to make more money when stock goes back down.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:25:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m not sure that anyone had NSRS to borrow, first things first you need the borrow – given that you can’t even trade it at Interactive Brokers and they are the only ones that probably would have had the borrow – I don’t really think there would have been an option here.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:25:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive BUT forget NSRS but for others I’m all about less is more – I find the trade I’m familiar with and take it. Many times if I nail a long I sell might hit a perfect top and then it pulls back, guess what…. give it 15 minutes it’s on more highs. Or same thing on short, how many times do I nail the move and cover only to see it hit LODs the rest of the day… So this strategy sure it could work .. but I’d rather just focus on the trade, take the profits and move on to the next.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:26:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I try to get the best bang for the buck, the least risk for the given reward so sure I do flip the position sometimes but very rarely

[Jan 2, 2012 8:26:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m not prepared for it … etc

[Jan 2, 2012 8:27:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’d rather be ready for a trade and react rather than react and react again without prep

[Jan 2, 2012 8:27:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions related to this – that’s it for NSRS and switching gears a bit to scans and other general terms

[Jan 2, 2012 8:27:39 PM EST]        sfk10     thanks that explains it

[Jan 2, 2012 8:27:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive np

[Jan 2, 2012 8:28:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: When placing an order for a low priced stock in a large block, how do you hide size? I do not have the ability to route my own orders on my platform. Do you place multiple orders?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:28:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I usually don’t hide on a low price stock unless ARCA allows me to. I typically always hide on NASDAQ stocks we trade.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:28:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive No using multiple orders is not something I’d do to hide size, you can hide it with the ‘reserve’ option on DAS Trader or the “Display” option under the order entry on Interactive Brokers configuration menu.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:28:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Not that they are thin but if you’re trading in and out and want to sneak out of 5k shares and there’s a bunch of others that are eager to sell – there is a good chance if you put 5-10k shares of a stock up they’ll undercut you by a penny, whereas if you show 100 shares they’re less likely. Put yourself on the flip side, if you saw a big sell order come up would you try to undercut it?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:29:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Take for example my trade on AMR after hours the other day, I bought 50k and wanted to flip it for .04 cents as stated in chat … if I pasted a 50k offer there is a good chance someone would have went .0001 under me .. so instead I undercut and hid my offer and was taken out on the uptick.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:29:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so that’s how and why …. any further questions related?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:29:48 PM EST]        InvestorsLive yet another reason related to NSRS above … why I sell into strength

[Jan 2, 2012 8:29:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sell when people don’t care about a big offer… sell into breaks

[Jan 2, 2012 8:30:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive NSRS prob a bad example since it’s liquid but lets say ABOT after it breaks .04 the other day

[Jan 2, 2012 8:30:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive then pulls back and you have 200k .. you want to show 200k at .039? then have some a-hole undercut you at .0389 for 20k

[Jan 2, 2012 8:31:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so that’s a time if ARCA was avail I may hide size and show 5k and really have 200k … or the better thing to do is sell it on the way up locking in gains … sure you could miss out on profits

[Jan 2, 2012 8:31:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but .. better to lock some in anyway

[Jan 2, 2012 8:31:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions related to this topic?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:31:27 PM EST]        tradernyc            Can u hide stuff w broad?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:31:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive “you can hide it with the ‘reserve’ option on DAS Trader or the “Display” option under the order entry on Interactive Brokers configuration menu. “

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:01 PM EST]        tradernyc            k

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: What it means to “box a stock in”?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m assuming and answering this question as if it’s “What is boxing a stock”

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if that wasn’t the question feel free to ask other wise

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Boxing a stock is not something I’d do unless you have big accounts and willing to wait to be right. Boxing is going both long and short (typically in different accounts). Let’s say for example you wake up and see AMWI at $1.00 per share and say to yourself wow, there is shares to borrow today … I do want to short it but it’s probably not ready yet …. so you take it short at $1 and go long at $1.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:32:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Riskless, yes – that’s called boxed. You’re riskless until a) you get bought in on the short or b) you sell the long and remain net short or c) cover the short and remain net long. The thought here is you’d be long and short at $1 ride it up and sell the long into a spike – let’s say that $1.40 spike you take .40 per share profit and now are net short down -.40 per share. The benefit = there is NO more shares to borrow since high demand, the risk = it keeps going.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:33:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The goal it starts tanking you know it’s going to tank hard and fast sub $1 and you cover .60 cents and end up making .80/share between the two trades.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:33:38 PM EST]        TGJN7   The hidden trouble is getting bought in…

[Jan 2, 2012 8:34:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions related to this topic?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:34:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I would like to gain knowledge in the trading world do you have any books one can read and broaden her knowledge? As a beginner you must have learned from someone or something would you care to discuss how you came up with the strategies you know?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:35:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t nor do I have any recommendations for books. I heard Brian Shannon’s book was good Technical Analysis or something but I have no firsthand experience with it. There were NO books that helped me to become the trader I am, I am self taught. I DID have ‘mentors’ along the way learning what not to do, or most importantly learning by watching over and over again… until it either clicks or doesn’t click.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:36:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Question about adding to positions. Example: You go to short position 1/4 size to get the feeling for the play. Price moves higher and you add 1/4 more to your position…Now if the price finally starts fading down, do you cut your position back to 1/4 when you are back at your entry?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:36:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The main reason I state my size is for people to understand that I am getting a feeling for it, this market has changed me as a trader I will not play typical full size on many things EVER unless I have houses money and adding on a big chart for a crack and/or breakout.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:37:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Many times I may trade a channel, be in 1/4 size …. it pops add some and it pulls back to my entry … take it off, lock in that channel profit and let my 1/4 size trade out. If the trade starts to slowly fade off and market drops hard sure I will use the houses money to my advantage and jump in full size anticipating the crack.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:37:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Overall though I use it as a guide, where my typical stop may be .25 on a $10 dollar stock 1/4 = stop at $11 I am comfortable with … 1/2 size .. stop at $10.50 etc. It’s more about letting people know the range I am comfortable with based on the current market activity. I’ve made it a goal and as you’ve seen if it starts to consolidate and actually appear to turn bullish vs. flat/weak I make a note in chat so people who are trading like me don’t have blinders on thinking it can only go down.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:37:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The risk and ideas are based off the channels, gearing/perking, late day fades etc that I had listed for you guys to review for seminar tonight

[Jan 2, 2012 8:38:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so basically taking those charts, (ABCD chart example drawn out) and what my normal risk would be let’s say … .10-.20

[Jan 2, 2012 8:38:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if I’m in 1/4 size that means I’m ok with it going .40-.80 agains me

[Jan 2, 2012 8:38:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive against me*

[Jan 2, 2012 8:39:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive because it may be a big ranger and I’m not going to nail it to the penny but after one or two adds and then a move in my favor it’ll be ready to add in full for the big move

[Jan 2, 2012 8:39:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive unfortunately many of these big moves we HAVE had … have been really consolidating and not cracking hard

[Jan 2, 2012 8:39:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so again ADAPTING as a trader is a big thing, if you go back 6 months we’d have some huge moves…. and then few days later HUGE cracks

[Jan 2, 2012 8:40:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but now current markets we have HUGE moves then small pull back consolidation volume dies off and we get nothing on a big crack 🙁

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:07 PM EST]        hurleydood        do you have a calculation for choosing share amount for 1/4 size?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive what type of calculation?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:27 PM EST]        hurleydood        like a forumla

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m good at math..

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and quick

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so if that counts

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but no I don’t have an excel sheet that tells me how many shres to buy

[Jan 2, 2012 8:41:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if I did that I’d miss the move

[Jan 2, 2012 8:42:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive pointless imo

[Jan 2, 2012 8:43:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive my size is determined by the range as well, like MOSY, LIVE I would not trade as large as RENN

[Jan 2, 2012 8:43:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive for example

[Jan 2, 2012 8:43:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive low float vs. thick stocks

[Jan 2, 2012 8:43:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so that’s taken into account but obviously with low float stocks ur risk/reward is a higher range .25-.50 vs .05-.10 on something like RENN

[Jan 2, 2012 8:43:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any further questions related to this topic?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:05 PM EST]        TGJN7   elaborate on that pls?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive which part?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:27 PM EST]        TGJN7   RENN vs MOSY size

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive low float stocks – bigger range

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive a stock that moves .05-.10 in an uptick

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive vs. .01

[Jan 2, 2012 8:44:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you’re obviously not going to play the same size

[Jan 2, 2012 8:45:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive ie: 5k shares in RENN far less risky than 5k in MOSY

[Jan 2, 2012 8:45:17 PM EST]        TGJN7   you take smaller size on the low floaters

[Jan 2, 2012 8:45:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you could be up or down $2500 bucks on a typical move on MOSY

[Jan 2, 2012 8:45:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive vs. RENN which typically wouldn’t move that thin

[Jan 2, 2012 8:45:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive just like https://www.investorsunderground.com/img/UOULXGFZPP.png from the last seminar

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:00 PM EST]        TGJN7   so its easier to take a bigger position on RENN than MOSY

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive no it’s not any easier or harder

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive just saying it’s lower float, you’re not going to play the same size as you would in RENN

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive given the range

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:34 PM EST]        NinoNix0n           because of the risk?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:46:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive because of range

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:14 PM EST]        TGJN7   your size is smaller on MOSY?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive right

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:24 PM EST]        TGJN7   k

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive just think about SIRI vs. DEXO or PEIX

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive simpliest thing to think about

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive pretty clear cut example

[Jan 2, 2012 8:47:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I notice you and Muddy making different types of trades (ie, catching a penny promo, shorting, longing, options). My question, given the different types of trades that you both make, which ones would you consider yourselves to be better at catching and most often making a profitable trade???

[Jan 2, 2012 8:48:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive We both trade different styles. As I went over last seminar I am the ‘income’ type trader, I come to work for the day and if I see profit I take it. I don’t wait for what I ‘could’ make or what I shoulda coulda woulda done I come to my desk, I see a trade, I’m right or wrong and I take it then onto the next. One thing I CAN control is taking those profits (and keeping losses to a minimum).

[Jan 2, 2012 8:48:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Muddy is great at finding former runners he’s been around a loooooooooooooooong (didn’t mean that many o’s keyboard must have stuck) and is quick on the lower float stocks that have had runs in the past. Long story short he’s made his money, he represents the trader who would rather take it and wait and sell after it pulls back vs. a pop, sell after it tops out or let it ride all day with no stop in mind except flat.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:49:09 PM EST]        Laura well it has been a loooooooooooong time for him, lol

[Jan 2, 2012 8:49:25 PM EST]        koogar  I heard he trained Larry Livingstone

[Jan 2, 2012 8:49:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive fine, my keyboard didn’t stick

[Jan 2, 2012 8:49:31 PM EST]        Laura ha

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:01 PM EST]        ChopStockTrader             you cn take these styles and adapt them to what you are comfortable trading

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive its more about what type of trader you are … if fact I think Chop is prob 50/50 now but before never really did much of my style but rather took Muddy‘s

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and had more success with that

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive while he developed trading some of my types

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and now I see him more and more and PMing me about ones that I trade and he’s been having success with

[Jan 2, 2012 8:50:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive correct me if I am wrong Chop

[Jan 2, 2012 8:51:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but I remember while back you saying “I don’t really trade much of your’s I take Muds pre list and this and that”

[Jan 2, 2012 8:51:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and now I see u doing it all 🙂

[Jan 2, 2012 8:51:51 PM EST]        ChopStockTrader             yeah…i also started with Muddy method and adapted it to more of a NasDaq style and through that started seeing more of your trades on the backside

[Jan 2, 2012 8:52:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive which is what a lot do, in fact I rarely used the HOD list but could trade and now I find a lot of ideas from Muddys idea of the HOD list …

[Jan 2, 2012 8:52:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so its all about adapting and what you do with it

[Jan 2, 2012 8:52:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive the fact is it’s the best no BS live screen for active movers all related to how we trade

[Jan 2, 2012 8:53:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive basically we’re not going to see SIRI MSFT in here but all high dayranger stocks or active markets we can trade

[Jan 2, 2012 8:53:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and from that you adapt as a trader

[Jan 2, 2012 8:53:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions realted to that?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:54:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The next round of questions I’m going to group all dealing with scans and nightly prep

[Jan 2, 2012 8:54:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive This has since changed from the beginning

[Jan 2, 2012 8:54:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Can you please reveal the secret formula for the nightly scans? I never understood how you get the nightly scans and wanted to know the formula. Please dont send me to the scan page as that formula never brings out the same tickers you get. And how do you cherry pick them from there once you get a list of 40 tickers. Please help us with this as we want to run the scan as well.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:54:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Please give us formula for this scanner in finviz so we get the same results. I want to also scan market every night and learn to do the work myself

[Jan 2, 2012 8:54:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Can you please elaborate and explain exactly how you do it like you did with that Stockhouse. Can you tell us what you plug in exactly so we can get the same results. Thanks for your quick answer.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:55:33 PM EST]        InvestorsLive So originally I’d link to a StockHouse scan which included Nasdaq, AMEX, NYSE, OTCs and it was just bad azz … had all the answers in one

[Jan 2, 2012 8:55:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but they have since updated their site and it no longer works, neither does the scan it gives me the same stocks every night

[Jan 2, 2012 8:56:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’ve emailed them twice, answered one time and said they were working on it – nothing since

[Jan 2, 2012 8:56:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive There is no secret formula, right now I just use finviz scan through the leaders and look at recent scans, EquityFeed scans and stocks we played that day.

[Jan 2, 2012 8:56:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive This is link I use currently with Finviz to get some: http://finviz.com/screener.ashx?v=311&f=ta_averagetruerange_o0.25,ta_change_u,ta_changeopen_u,ta_pattern_horizontal,ta_perf_dup,ta_perf2_d5o,ta_volatility_wo5&ft=3&ta=0&o=-volume

[Jan 2, 2012 8:56:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I look at a variety of it all ….

[Jan 2, 2012 8:56:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I basically use any scanner to find stocks up 5-10% + on the day

[Jan 2, 2012 8:57:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or up on the week and up multi days in a row

[Jan 2, 2012 8:57:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive w/ volume

[Jan 2, 2012 8:57:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive in addition I couple it with stokcs on scan the prior few days (what has kept going, what has broken down due for a boucne, what .. is setting up again etc)

[Jan 2, 2012 8:57:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive with EquityFeed which is in the equityfeed seminar

[Jan 2, 2012 8:57:59 PM EST]        hurleydood        short or long biased for the finviz scan?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:58:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive + HOD list ideas from today … any big % gainers etc

[Jan 2, 2012 8:58:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive both hurley

[Jan 2, 2012 8:58:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive stocks I’m intersted in – w/ range

[Jan 2, 2012 8:59:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions before moving on?

[Jan 2, 2012 8:59:40 PM EST]        ChopStockTrader             I have a NasDaq scan that I wrote for stockfetcher that just looks for stocks with lots of range the previous day…i dont care if it is up or down

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive oh yes, and on that note – Muddy has all his scans listed right on the screener page

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive at stockfetcher

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/stock-fetcher-scans/

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive amongst others

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I wanted to learn how to buy accumulation scans at times they fly at times they don’t do a thing and sell off can u please guide us with your knowledge of accumulation scans and explain how to know when to press the trigger to buy. Most if not all don’t have chart patterns so how can u tell when it’s a buy. I bought some and lost big and most times that is the case.

[Jan 2, 2012 9:00:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Accumulation scans in this market definitely are good to find out what OTCs are active since there isn’t MUCH. But, there isn’t any exact answer here – the way I take accumulation scans are I take a look at the daily chart see if it’s forming a base, see if it looks promo-ish, check email box see who is pumping and if nothing else I just have an eye on them. For example SPLM former runner, hard mailer back in day usually these tend to have a one day pop on heavy volume I watch for pull backs or any consolidation to buy off of. Otherwise stocks with a trend like ABOT, NSRS, RAYS, JBII etc that may be ranging just tells me they are in play and liquid enough if I do see an opportunity – to play it.

[Jan 2, 2012 9:02:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I watched your repeated alerts on TFER and have traded buying in the AM and selling in the afternoon. I stayed out Friday because I am not sure how long they can keep this up. My question is what sign will you look for to tell you to stay out? Thanks

[Jan 2, 2012 9:02:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I haven’t really played many OTCs in this market unless they are PennyPic types, AwesomePennyStocks, Bestdamnpennystocks etc. The rest, slow and steady .. I’d rather just have cash in my account. Sure, TFER started hitting my scans in the .70s, .80s etc … it’s more about if it’s worth taking a risk for you great, it’s clear each day they have been sneaking it up and each night into close is a good buy since it’s usually green the next day. Sure, BUT that’s also hindsight easier that way. So to answer, no one knows how long they can keep it up – that’s what makes the world go round. I would ignore it if a small account and unable to watch it since they could pull support at any moment.

[Jan 2, 2012 9:03:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: LGDI was on that EF accumulation scan this week can you be so kind to review the chart and show us how to but these as i asked before I don’t get it.

[Jan 2, 2012 9:03:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive This was one that was sneaking up slowly through the day started off .10 slow accumulation and ended up around .16 (with vol) sure it hit .20 but traded like 5k shares between .18 and .20 so no chance there. http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/WWNLLUNPPJ.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:04:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Basically all these accumulation scan questions – it’s a scanner that produces results to me that tells me .. if they’re on there they are liquid enough for me to trade them, there is a majority of the volume on the offers and enough trades for me to alert in chat and/or get in or out .. where no one is going to just buy and get stuck

[Jan 2, 2012 9:05:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive They are stocks you can be patient on and wait for an opportuntiy – check the OTC seminars listed – both of them

[Jan 2, 2012 9:05:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive they have some great charts gearing/perking and ideas there on how to locate them

[Jan 2, 2012 9:05:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive locate the entry *

[Jan 2, 2012 9:05:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions related to the accumulation scan?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:06:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive these are more for the OTC players – in recent months definately not the ‘core’ strategy for me anyway

[Jan 2, 2012 9:06:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I just primarily focus on the big whales

[Jan 2, 2012 9:06:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive trade the way up, the first drop and then leave them alone

[Jan 2, 2012 9:06:45 PM EST]        tradernyc            So most acc scans will likely not have a chrt correct like gearing/perking?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:06:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sure they can if they have range

[Jan 2, 2012 9:07:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive not if they are inching tho

[Jan 2, 2012 9:07:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive like many mailer types

[Jan 2, 2012 9:07:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive OTC seminars have many of the charts – same concepts inching/gearing/perking etc

[Jan 2, 2012 9:07:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: If a chart is just flat lined without a grind and then perks is that also considered textbook or a buy or does it also have to be grinding higher. Meaning does a flat lined chart where stock is let’s say between 3.20-3.25 up and down for the past hour perk and now 3.35 is that a buy or do we need the grinding?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:07:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any consolidation WITH prior price action that day is what I’m interested in. Random sideways price action with nothing happening … I’ll wait for the move. Depending on the daily chart if it has higher than average volume. Something that I’d be interested in is RENN type daily chart former runner in the past, deadly many run down stocks running … and break off consolidation – http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/QMFKLSCMPW.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:08:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive gave both charts – daily and intraday

[Jan 2, 2012 9:08:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive 5 day intraday chart on RENN above

[Jan 2, 2012 9:08:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive the main thing is AM price action

[Jan 2, 2012 9:08:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive what happened in the morning

[Jan 2, 2012 9:08:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s what interest me in the afternoon

[Jan 2, 2012 9:09:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive otherwise its home work from the night before

[Jan 2, 2012 9:09:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if something starts to break out intraday that I was prepared for.. break down late day….

[Jan 2, 2012 9:09:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or something ripping off intraday scans

[Jan 2, 2012 9:09:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and they all go back to the seminar I had you guys review before this one – the set ups

[Jan 2, 2012 9:09:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive For those new tonight I had everyone review this: http://www.investorsunderground.com/2011/12/30/seminar-monday-night-7pm-est/

[Jan 2, 2012 9:10:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive before tonight

[Jan 2, 2012 9:10:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Do you buy grinders on the perk or after they perk? Do you let stuff retest after it perks or just buy on the perk??And how do u assess your risk?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:10:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive RENN I chased Friday since we all know this stock, many stocks running off lows …

[Jan 2, 2012 9:10:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/MWYTMRENUK.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:10:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive when I had alerted my entry – my risk is based off 3.30s

[Jan 2, 2012 9:11:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive u can see prior top at the start there before 10AM

[Jan 2, 2012 9:11:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive re-test and held

[Jan 2, 2012 9:11:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so risk = a dime at 3.38 entry

[Jan 2, 2012 9:11:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive 3.50 = magnet = 1/2 dollar mark

[Jan 2, 2012 9:12:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Probably too general question, but I would very appreciate if could you answer pls. It is approx. one year when i started trading stocks. Even if i find profitable trading strategy, I always finish up looking for something better and more robust so I always end up losing money with trying new and new strategies. It looks like you have strict rules for trades you play. How did you go over this temptation for trying new and new “better” strategies? You never check new ideas? Have you ever thought about automate your trading? Thanks.

[Jan 2, 2012 9:12:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Well, the temptation many times will just be answered with losses. Any time I want bigger and better or NAIL options for example I’m an idiot and end up holding until they are worthless. What I would suggest is if you make your money and still want more, still want to learn more there’s nothing wrong with playing smaller just to be in the trade and take care of your addiction of always wanting more. If I have a solid morning or afternoon … and it’s 3PM + or Friday I will dabble with 500 shares vs. a normal 3000 share position (for example) since a) I’m addicted b) it’s a profit potential in front of my face and c) it’s a ‘fix’. Lastly I started a blog to fight over trading so when I’d go back to the pot late day instead I’d log into InvestorsLive.com and write a blog post about what I traded that day, and then it turned into this 🙂

[Jan 2, 2012 9:13:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that was it for questions……………… thanks for all of you who took the time to review the seminar before aend send them in this weekend b4 today (and even today)

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive some charts I like ….

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/ZNFNOKUFWZ.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive short set up I like – late day fader

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you can see my trades on it that day – but you can see how this relates to that JVA example in the chart

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:46 PM EST]        tradernyc            %%%% u nailed bottom

[Jan 2, 2012 9:14:54 PM EST]        TGJN7   IOW trade what you know and know what you trade…

[Jan 2, 2012 9:15:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive RAM here’s example of why you should always keep your size in check and stick to your rules

[Jan 2, 2012 9:15:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/PTWSOUXWZS.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:15:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://www.investorsunderground.com/img/XELMJZJVDD.png

[Jan 2, 2012 9:15:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive stock was about to break down again and then bam volume bar out of nowhere took it up and screwed all the shorts

[Jan 2, 2012 9:16:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but the hindsight story here is if it fails to break down and keeps holding support …. wait for late day crack wait for it to top out

[Jan 2, 2012 9:16:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I got caught in this I forget what I lost a few hundred – was in 1/4th size since a tester and we had profitted on it earlier

[Jan 2, 2012 9:16:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but just one of those reminders to stay away from random price action mid day

[Jan 2, 2012 9:17:13 PM EST]        tradernyc            IL on that RAM chart where did peeps short it and got squeezed?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:17:27 PM EST]        tradernyc            time?

[Jan 2, 2012 9:17:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive where did they short it? or when did squeeze happen

[Jan 2, 2012 9:18:14 PM EST]        tradernyc            i see the squeeze but why would anyone be short it really didnt fade

[Jan 2, 2012 9:18:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive look at chart coming into the day up a lot

[Jan 2, 2012 9:18:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and was fading off

[Jan 2, 2012 9:18:35 PM EST]        tradernyc            actually im wrong i see the fade now
