Q and A, Important Links, Recap Visuals and Entry

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive alrighty .. time to start – same format as most times… please don’t throw in random questions in the middle

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive we’ll stay on topic

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’ll ask after each question if you have any

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and move forward that way

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive discussion is fine

[Jan 9, 2011 8:06:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I started as a Day Trader (before used to work on swing trades) and got nice profit in the starting but leads to loss not because of wrong assumption its just because of not selling in the right time or not able to put sell order – How you keep sell orders ,Once you bought after seeing the candle sticks like (Doji, hanging man .. patterns ) or after exact price target like .5 to .10 cents profits or how you determine exact point and type of order like stop ,trailing stop…etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:07:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive (btw these are all unedited from the ones you sent in)

[Jan 9, 2011 8:07:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I take one trade at a time .. I’m usually not in more than 3-4 day trades at any given time. Normally I look for THE move and take profits sell most ride the rest. I wouldn’t suggest day trading if you are not around to put in sell orders.. you’re asking for it.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:07:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive You may not be familiar with the set ups I trade.. they are beyond just one Doji or hanging man pattern. Take a look at the two seminars recommended to review before this seminar and you’ll quickly become familiar with my favorite set ups.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:07:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive It all depends on the size I’m in on the trade or the move I expect… if I expect a small move .05-.10 as you’ve suggested then I’d probably be playing larger and keeping my stop just the same to the downside (mental stop). As far as exact entry point – again I’d review the powerpoint where I go over what I look for and how I enter.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:08:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Usually for me .. I’ll throw a sell in for 1/2 right away at a higher price.. and just edit it from there.. because as you know .. when a stock does a little “inch inch into breakout mode” I like to take some off

[Jan 9, 2011 8:09:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Like I said – the post I also put right on the home page http://www.investorsunderground.com/2011/01/09/topics-covered-tonight-leave-your-questions-in-comment-field/

[Jan 9, 2011 8:09:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I linked to the 2 powerpoints from before – the first one with the 3 set ups will show you what I look for for entry and exit

[Jan 9, 2011 8:10:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s the best most visual way

[Jan 9, 2011 8:10:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any questions on that topic?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:10:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: What techniques do you use to locate new stock promoter newsletters? For example, when the GladiatorStocks/PennyStockAlley/FreeInsiderAlerts group launches their 21st website — how will you find it? Google banner ads? Google Alerts?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:11:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Nothing more than continually googling “hot stocks” “penny stocks” “stocks to buy” etc… it’s all about staying up to date with them. If you find new sites the more people you tell about them … the less edge you have.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:11:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’ll tell you how to do it .. as I have .. but it’s up to you to keep your edge (ie: continually figuring out whose connected and whose hot). That’s simply done by subscribing and seeing what they send, whose who, who is connected .. do they have 10 websites? Do they split it in 2, 2, 3, 3? do they go 5 and 5? Do they rotate? etc.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:12:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: wing trades – what is good criteria to look at when deciding to enter a swing trade. Also, what do we look at for buy and holds ? i noticed some people buying and holding, how dop they know if it might go up ?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:12:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Swing* trades

[Jan 9, 2011 8:12:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The major thing is … is it a former runner? Did it have a big campaign in the past? Normally the ones we see with big mailer campaigns come back at some point or another.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:12:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Whomever the third party behind it probably has deep pockets and will have deep pockets again once more of their shares become free trading. Many times you’ll see re-do campaigns 6-12 months later (since there’s 6 month and 12 month restricted paper coming free trading).

[Jan 9, 2011 8:13:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sometimes it has no history tho …

[Jan 9, 2011 8:13:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Muddy calls it a ‘former zero vol runner’

[Jan 9, 2011 8:13:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive If there’s no history or if it’s just a general chart – it’s all about being patient.. wait for the best entry so you can give it a chance. Let the trade come to you on the bid – realize where the support is and minimize your risk based on the support.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:13:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Most times I see stocks on scan for a day or 2 which means most of the volume is on the offer (accumulation). If it doesn’t move I still keep it on radar – it’s always good to see it trade lots of volume and re-test support first before you jump in. As we saw with RZTI, CHTL, DUNR etc. (see recaps)

[Jan 9, 2011 8:13:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any questions on this ?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:14:14 PM EST]        Tommy123          dHow do u know its accumulation again?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:14:18 PM EST]        Xtraderr               yeah whats about the first question, you never addressed it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:14:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Tommy – ‘most times I see the stock on scan for multiple days’

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive my scan is set up to see stuff that most of the vol is on offer

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:16 PM EST]        MilesJStoner      once u get wind of a stock, if it doesnt move now, most cases, specially as of late, if will move soon, next day or so, so yeah, keep stock mentions on radar, when ur bored, run through them.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:18 PM EST]        Tommy123          Yout OTC scan correct?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive right Tommy

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive what Xtraderr?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:15:44 PM EST]        Xtraderr               the first question from the topics for tonight about relative volume

[Jan 9, 2011 8:16:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive lets keep to topic please for sake of chat logs after this – but I emailed that person directly since it didn’t really make sense since nothing I suggest as a swing trade is like what he asked… so I asked him for clarification

[Jan 9, 2011 8:16:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any other questions regarding this last question so far?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:17:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: In regards to using EquityFeed software — (1) do you use Filter Builder BETA or Streaming Filter and (2) what are your “Saved Filters”?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:17:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I haven’t used Filter Builder BETA no. I will have to check it out. I use Streaming Filter – saved filters on the program are just ones that you’ve made and saved. If you’re looking for my settings just click seminar and go to the seminar titled EquityFeed – it’s near the end of the seminar

[Jan 9, 2011 8:18:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The streaming filter is great because it refreshes for you

[Jan 9, 2011 8:18:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive one thing I’d suggest is if you’re using it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:18:17 PM EST]        InvestorsLive organize it by last sale

[Jan 9, 2011 8:18:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that way you have the ones that are trading at the top of the list

[Jan 9, 2011 8:18:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive vs. the one that may be on scan but haven’t traded for a while/hour etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:19:02 PM EST]        Tommy123          How is that done?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:19:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive click the time category

[Jan 9, 2011 8:19:14 PM EST]        Tommy123          i see.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:19:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive any further questions guys on that one?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:20:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: As a successful trader, can you elaborate on how to establish a trading plan and key rules that one need to follow in order to become a successful trader?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:20:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive The biggest thing is taking losses. If you go into a trade for a particular reason and you are wrong… just cut it off before it becomes an unmanageable loss. There’s no reason why anyone can’t be successful at trading .. the difference between good traders and losing traders is ability to take losses.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:21:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I make a living my leaving money on the table each day. Sure .. sometimes I say shoulda could would …. when I leave tens of thousands on the table .. but most of the time I never look back.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:21:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive You need to find out what you’re good at …. are you good at finding THE trade… are you good at buying smaller and letting the average daily range ride with a trailing stop? Are you better at swing trading? It’s all about trial and error – find out what you’re good at and stick with it.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any questions on that one?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:22 PM EST]        Xtraderr               Would you recommend a novice trader to do as many trades as possible until he finds out what he is good at?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you don’t have to do as many trades as possible

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive no

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:48 PM EST]        InvestorsLive just review your trades

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive see what you’ve had the most success at

[Jan 9, 2011 8:22:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and stick with it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:23:17 PM EST]        Tommy123          But at times u think u lost u are down like $100 u sell and then boom stock goes back up?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:23:21 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you can always adapt.. I adapt every day.. but my core strat is taking profits along the way.. I’m not good at the patience game.. every time I do I end up losing

[Jan 9, 2011 8:23:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Right Tommy – market is always right

[Jan 9, 2011 8:23:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive what happens if it doesn’t bounce?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:23:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive are you glad you stuck to rules?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:06 PM EST]        Silinteri seems the risk is in holding overnight

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive There is risk on Nasdaq yes

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:24 PM EST]        Tommy123          I always get burnt for not selling.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive well risk everywhree

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive everywhere

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:31 PM EST]        Silinteri news of dilution etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:24:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but OTC/OTCBB only over night type stuff is the only stuff I do normally

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:06 PM EST]        Tommy123          IL isnt that very risky to hold a OTC/OTCBB o/n?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:18 PM EST]        Tommy123          Easy up easy down?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t trade illiquid OTCs Tommy

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:31 PM EST]        Silinteri slow up fast down

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:33 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I trade OTCs in play with momentum

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:46 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m not in them when I shouldn’t be… leave that for the birds

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:46 PM EST]        Tommy123          But momentum does dry up no?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:25:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if momentum dries up I’m not in them

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I trade MOMENTUM

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive stocks with volume

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t overstay my welcome

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:23 PM EST]        Silinteri have you ever used the TOS PLATFORM TO FIND TRADES

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:31 PM EST]        Tommy123          Is VPRO a momentum stock it was last week but who said it will continue?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:55 PM EST]        Jaymo   I use ToS on a regular basis for charts, flexible grid, etc. But their scanner is seriously lacking

[Jan 9, 2011 8:26:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive VPRO – just look how we played it Tommy

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive perfect example

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive was I over night Thursday ? no.. was I hoping for a tank yes

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Did I play bounce … yes

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Sell into the EOD power.. yes

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive am I over night.. no

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:33 PM EST]        Trader7595         VPRO I would like to know about. I bought at .068, sold at .06 on the restest for a loss when i thought .06 would crack and then it went.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive now hopefully another tank to .06 tomorrow

[Jan 9, 2011 8:27:41 PM EST]        Tommy123          I gotcha !

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:08 PM EST]        Tommy123          and .06 support so if it holds we are in?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:10 PM EST]        Jaymo   Silinteri: Try the EquityFeed scanner 30 day trial

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:24 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Trader – that’s why I started in 1/3 .. so I wouldn’t panic at .06 when I bought at .0601 and .062 064s etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Tommy we’ll see tomorrow

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:46 PM EST]        Trader7595         so you averaged down?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive when?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:28:54 PM EST]        Trader7595         from .068

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:01 PM EST]        Trader7595         from the first buy

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive no – as I said in the prior seminar last week or week before

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if I am in 1/3

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t consider that aveeraging down

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive big difference

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:25 PM EST]        Trader7595         ah

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:28 PM EST]        Trader7595         I see

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I went in PARTIAL size expecting to AVERAGE IN

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive i could have averaged “up” or “down” technically

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:48 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but I don’t consider it averaging down

[Jan 9, 2011 8:29:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I was in partial as stated

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it all comes down to your game plan

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive whats ur plan going in

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive did you go in .068 thinking it was bottom and you’re in full size?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive then yes.. you need to be careful at .06

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:33 PM EST]        InvestorsLive did you go in 1/3 size .. expecting that it may want to re-test lows before it settles?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:30:38 PM EST]        Trader7595         that where I went wrong I guess but I when .078 quickly turned into .061 I cut it think .035 could come fast on this turd

[Jan 9, 2011 8:31:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s why I trade these momentum ones around the few days they are on Kool Aid

[Jan 9, 2011 8:31:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive because there’s a market and always people averaging down from .12 .13 .14 etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:31:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive after tomorrow.. if it fails it’ll be sketchy until we see it on scan again in a few weeks or months

[Jan 9, 2011 8:31:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any further questions on that topic?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:11 PM EST]        Trader7595         none for me

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:33 PM EST]        Tommy123          so IL if it wouldnt have held .06 you would bail right away on Fri?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’d prob let it test

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I was in 1/3 … and added .06

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive risk vs. reward on the chart probably not

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:53 PM EST]        Silinteri I guess the main part of trading is setting up the scanner

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:53 PM EST]        Trader7595         oh one more thing. But if you were in 1/3rd size when would you actually cut that if it went against you?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:32:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it was due technically for the bounce

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:16 PM EST]        InvestorsLive dunno Trader I only had like 30-40k originally I think.. so maybe .045-05 if it didnt bounce?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:25 PM EST]        Tommy123          how do u mean it was due for a bounce?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it sold straight down from .17

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:46 PM EST]        InvestorsLive risk vs. reward

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive is what I look for in bounces

[Jan 9, 2011 8:33:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive better chance it hit .08 than .04

[Jan 9, 2011 8:34:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive buying at .06 etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:34:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive next question was rather general … just will point to some links

[Jan 9, 2011 8:34:17 PM EST]        Tommy123          clear!

[Jan 9, 2011 8:34:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: What is a “Good Looking” Chart?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:34:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Good looking charts intraday – I’d suggest this powerpoint “Three Favorite Setups” http://bit.ly/idIkbx

[Jan 9, 2011 8:35:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive For good looking swing charts and what I look for I’d suggest checking out the recaps I posted today: http://bit.ly/e3ySt2

[Jan 9, 2011 8:35:57 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: When tickers pop on my screener..what things should i look at..ie what things in a chart, volume etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:36:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Same direction here – You should be looking for a chart pattern you are familiar with. We trade off momentum and volume. Look where the prior support or resistance is .. higher highs? breaking off support? failing to hold support? fade? and plan your course of action from there. Again – see the “Three Favorite Setups” powerpoint.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:36:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I had linked and suggested you guys review those 2 seminars I keep talking about – many of the questions I got would be taken care of if they are reviewed

[Jan 9, 2011 8:36:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I know many of you see me post it and never click but… if you want to get better .. just freakin’ do it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:37:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive pretty straight forward and covered IN DEPTH in those 2 powerpoints

[Jan 9, 2011 8:37:46 PM EST]        Tommy123          IL the IL SCAN when it shows stocks alot of the stocks are up already like 20-30% isnt that chasing them?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:38:07 PM EST]        Tommy123          OTC SCAN

[Jan 9, 2011 8:38:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Sure .. if you just review the charts as we discussed

[Jan 9, 2011 8:38:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive my charts don’t say BUY at open and chase

[Jan 9, 2011 8:38:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive they say .. watch for dips if it holds X price

[Jan 9, 2011 8:38:58 PM EST]        Tommy123          I cant click on link so I will review it later I will lose room if i click on it.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:39:26 PM EST]        Tommy123          Have a mac!

[Jan 9, 2011 8:39:34 PM EST]        MilesJStoner      sometimes a stock needs to move 20-30% before its a good buy, not always, but keep that in mind, we’ve seen stocks rip 20% to close the day out at 80%, take advantage of the strength.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:39:36 PM EST]        Silinteri window

[Jan 9, 2011 8:39:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive we are a chat room about momentum

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive DUNR

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive RPC

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive XOMA

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive CPOW

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive etc etc etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:48 PM EST]        Laura look at that chart, low vol sure, but look at 3 month on it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:40:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive where do u think the movers come from

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: Lately you’ve been picking a lot of great swing plays. When you are scanning through your charts what characteristics you look for in a stock that allow you to feel comfortable swinging it as opposed to a stock that needs constant monitoring?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:19 PM EST]        Trader7595         right but do you give the same allowance for risk in a stock up 10% that you do to one up 30-50%?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:22 PM EST]        Tommy123          I see where u are getting at but for me a newbie how do i know that I wnt buy it at 20% and then it will crash on me.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive man

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive same stuff I’ve showed you over and over… I trade the same 3 set ups

[Jan 9, 2011 8:41:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I look for perking and gearing off support

[Jan 9, 2011 8:42:16 PM EST]        Tommy123          NO more questions from me. Go on please.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:42:46 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sheesh I send u directly to the seminars in email with pictures

[Jan 9, 2011 8:42:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive anyway.. it’s all good but review em!

[Jan 9, 2011 8:43:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Trader…….. I buy stocks like that with volume

[Jan 9, 2011 8:43:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive coming off trend

[Jan 9, 2011 8:43:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive doesn’t matter if its up 1000%

[Jan 9, 2011 8:43:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it has consistant vol and gearing on the 1 min chart

[Jan 9, 2011 8:43:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive enough for me

[Jan 9, 2011 8:44:25 PM EST]        MilesJStoner      stick to your stops, period, protect yourself, if its ups 1000% or 10%, use ur stops. You’re risking your capial on these stocks, pick a certain # ur willing to lose before you stop the loss: the % its up almost doesn’t matter

[Jan 9, 2011 8:44:38 PM EST]        nube48 Would IMGG be considerd preking and gearing like it did friday.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:44:41 PM EST]        Laura agree

[Jan 9, 2011 8:44:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive yes nube

[Jan 9, 2011 8:44:58 PM EST]        Laura most important is protect capital Miles

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that was a suggested swing on Thursday b/c it was still flat

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive at .15 but some volume on offers Thursday

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive then it broke the .16 Friday and it was off

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:28 PM EST]        InvestorsLive now you could buy IMGG on dips w/ a stop at .15

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:28 PM EST]        Laura IMGG former big runner

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:37 PM EST]        nube48 watched it happen on the level 2

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:38 PM EST]        Trader7595         but with the stock up 1000% it can litterally collapse with no chance to get out anywhere near your stop. Thats what I meant

[Jan 9, 2011 8:45:48 PM EST]        Xtraderr               IL do you have timestops, for example if you buy into suppport but it doesnt breakout or do anything, do you give it a certain amount of time before you bail?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:46:04 PM EST]        nube48 glad to know i am getting it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:46:13 PM EST]        MilesJStoner      trader7595, dont risk more than u can loose then, if you can’t loose it, dont risk it

[Jan 9, 2011 8:46:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive for those wondering gearing and perking – the link I sent them in email was; http://www.investorsunderground.com/2010/06/21/gearing-perking-chat-visuals-building-a-watchlist/

[Jan 9, 2011 8:46:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive for those unfamiliar

[Jan 9, 2011 8:46:55 PM EST]        Laura Agree again Miles, we play the risky otcs very small

[Jan 9, 2011 8:47:08 PM EST]        Laura but if you win, you win big even if small position

[Jan 9, 2011 8:47:25 PM EST]        Trader7595         so you really have to play the low priced ones (otc and pinks) like options

[Jan 9, 2011 8:47:32 PM EST]        Laura don’t go into otcs and pinks like they are Naz stocks

[Jan 9, 2011 8:48:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Xtrader – if it breaks under support then I’ll take it off… I go in for the trade I expect … if it doesn’t happen I’ll be out… but for stuff like IMGG they are slower plays .. patience plays…

[Jan 9, 2011 8:48:46 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I need to manage my(trading hours) time better. Im trying to gauge whats reasonable as far as watch list size goes. Ive been missing a lot of good calls in chat because Im too busy scanning through tickers attempting find good set ups on my own. What would you consider the max number of tickers to put on a watch list? Do you scan through Muddy’s watch list during the day in addition to your own or no.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:49:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive You can see which are moving off scan from the night before and just concentrate on those until you learn to mange more watch list. There is no sense making yourself overwhelmed.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:49:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive You can see which are moving off scan from the night before and just concentrate on those until you learn to mange more watch list. There is no sense making yourself overwhelmed.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:49:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive woops – minus 1 of those

[Jan 9, 2011 8:49:14 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Focus on 2 or 3 and wait for a set up. I just scroll through tickers that hit my scan/pre list through the day after the morning move and just watch for a potential play. I’m not watching 50 at once but rather scrolling through them here and there throughout the day.

[Jan 9, 2011 8:50:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive the other thing is

[Jan 9, 2011 8:50:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you’re in a chat with 180+ during the day

[Jan 9, 2011 8:50:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you have 180 eyes watching

[Jan 9, 2011 8:50:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive we are all watching 4-10 tickers maybe

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive someone is bound to be watching for when XYZ is nearing a set up

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that we are famliar with

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s the beauty of a chat room

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive eyes eyes eyse

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:28 PM EST]        rookie   thanks

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any questions regarding that?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:48 PM EST]        rookie   nope

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive oh the other short answer is – monitors is a good solution 🙂

[Jan 9, 2011 8:51:56 PM EST]        MilesJStoner      true that, and chat has been on fire

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:11 PM EST]        rookie   ::biggrin

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but .. ADD MONITORS with this KNOWN fact………

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive once you go UP

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you can’t go back DOWN

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:28 PM EST]        Xtraderr               why

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive try it 🙂

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive go to 4 24″ monitos and try to trade off a $15 inch laptop

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:51 PM EST]        Ironman               lol no doubt, impossible

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive good %%%%%’ luck lol

[Jan 9, 2011 8:52:59 PM EST]        shawn2011         how many monitors do you work with IL?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive 15″ not $15

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive 4 24″s

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:28 PM EST]        Silinteri never enough monitors

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Have 2 questions left then will open it up

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or 3 rather

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: I’ve heard the term “channel play” what is this?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:53:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive When a stock is trading between a bottom and top .. let’s say its trending down to $3.50 up to $3.75 back to $3.55 up to $3.75 down to $3.50 up to $3.75 etc… stuck in a channel. Either it’ll breakout or breakdown

[Jan 9, 2011 8:54:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I mentioned it with VPRO as well I think Thursday when it was channeling…

[Jan 9, 2011 8:54:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive can be the same thing on an intraday 1min chart

[Jan 9, 2011 8:54:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive as it is on a daily chart too

[Jan 9, 2011 8:54:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive same idea applied

[Jan 9, 2011 8:54:53 PM EST]        InvestorsLive take IMGG for example

[Jan 9, 2011 8:55:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/356/imgg1.png

[Jan 9, 2011 8:55:55 PM EST]        InvestorsLive .15 to .25 channel – same idea intraday

[Jan 9, 2011 8:56:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it breaks .25 you know it’s trend reversal time

[Jan 9, 2011 8:56:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it breaks .15 .. u know its breakdown time

[Jan 9, 2011 8:56:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Any further questions re: channels

[Jan 9, 2011 8:57:24 PM EST]        knorr     so youd just play the bottom to top, etc

[Jan 9, 2011 8:57:37 PM EST]        Mushin what gives you confidence to swing stock that are in a channel? is it how it acting nearing close?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive well I mainly look for it intraday but .. if a stock broke out of a channel then possible breakout like you saw with DUNR

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive which was on my recap

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it all comes down to support

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:33 PM EST]        InvestorsLive confidence = .15 bottom for how long now on IMGG?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it doesn’t hold – sell

[Jan 9, 2011 8:58:49 PM EST]        knorr     do you ever trade the channel like 3.50 buy sell at .75?

[Jan 9, 2011 8:59:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive u could

[Jan 9, 2011 8:59:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or play channel breaks

[Jan 9, 2011 8:59:31 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or use it as a top guage and short stop if it breaks top of channel

[Jan 9, 2011 9:00:16 PM EST]        Banta2000           I see a blurry line between the definition of a channel and of consolidation? How small must a channel be for it to be considered consolidation? For instance, in the image you just posted, isn’t the second half of the example also consolidation?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:00:26 PM EST]        Banta2000           Or am I getting it all wrong with consolidation?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:00:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive blurry line?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:00 PM EST]        InvestorsLive consolidation = flat line consolidation

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:03 PM EST]        Banta2000           “Blurry line” line in the sense of definition.. not visually

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive hovering around a certain price

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and either breaks down or breaks out

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive channel example was just a visual for the person who asked the question

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:50 PM EST]        Xtraderr               i think he’s asking if consolidation is equal to channel

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:58 PM EST]        InvestorsLive for example

[Jan 9, 2011 9:01:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive lets say

[Jan 9, 2011 9:02:04 PM EST]        InvestorsLive its 3pm ….

[Jan 9, 2011 9:02:06 PM EST]        Banta2000           Okay… but the examble you just gave (IMGG).. could that be played both ways? Either breaking the channel? Or breaking off consolidation around 0.15?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:02:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive stock has been topping out at $3.50 all day

[Jan 9, 2011 9:02:22 PM EST]        InvestorsLive but keeps holding 3.25-3.30 support

[Jan 9, 2011 9:02:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it starts gearing late in the afternoon

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and perking towards $3.50

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive w/ volume it’s $3.40-3.45

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive what’s the play?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:29 PM EST]        Xtraderr               buy the breakout

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:39 PM EST]        Silinteri dont do nothing

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:46 PM EST]        InvestorsLive long it

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive anticipate the afternoon move

[Jan 9, 2011 9:03:53 PM EST]        Silinteri could be setting up for a dump

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive ur risk is 3.25-3.30

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:06 PM EST]        Xtraderr               thats why you stop at support

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:08 PM EST]        InvestorsLive its coming off a gear starting to perk w/ volume

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive anticipate the break out of the channel 3.50 break

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:33 PM EST]        Tommy123          How do u establish support if u use a 1 minute daily chart little data no?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive u have a full days chart

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it’s not just 1 candlestick Tommy

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:52 PM EST]        InvestorsLive on a 1 min chart

[Jan 9, 2011 9:04:56 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it’s a full day

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:05 PM EST]        Xtraderr               how exactly do you define volume? is it the actual volume, time and sales moving fast, level 2?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:12 PM EST]        Xtraderr               price action?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:14 PM EST]        Tommy123          But if ur looking at it at 1030 am or 1 am?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:30 PM EST]        Tommy123          *10am

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:37 PM EST]        InvestorsLive volume – higher relative to the rest of the afternoon

[Jan 9, 2011 9:05:41 PM EST]        InvestorsLive price action ya

[Jan 9, 2011 9:06:18 PM EST]        InvestorsLive my example was 3PM Tommy

[Jan 9, 2011 9:06:19 PM EST]        InvestorsLive (Jan 09-21:01) InvestorsLive: for example (Jan 09-21:01) InvestorsLive: lets say (Jan 09-21:02) InvestorsLive: its 3pm ….

[Jan 9, 2011 9:06:50 PM EST]        Tommy123          No, I am asking diff how about at 10 am? Do u still use a daily 1 min chart ?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:06:59 PM EST]        Xtraderr               lets say for a play like AFFY that didnt pull back anywhere but just kept moving up not really showing any support, just green candles, how would you know where to enter?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:07:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I only use 1 min intraday chart

[Jan 9, 2011 9:07:07 PM EST]        InvestorsLive always

[Jan 9, 2011 9:07:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Xtrader – I didn’t play it… wasn’t an entry for me

[Jan 9, 2011 9:07:37 PM EST]        Tommy123          So at 10 am do you have enough data to establish support?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:07:50 PM EST]        InvestorsLive you could have longed it and road it up with a trailing stop .. or just ignore it like me

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or .. like bbstock who was in it

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive ride it up

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive all depends if you nail it or not… if u missed.. u missed no big deal

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:15 PM EST]        Xtraderr               why was this not your play? what didnt you like about it?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:29 PM EST]        InvestorsLive not my play?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive bb was all over it

[Jan 9, 2011 9:08:45 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t play every listed stock …

[Jan 9, 2011 9:09:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: How should we react to XYZ pop alerts? We get this a lot in the chat and not sure how to react to them. Is that an alert to watch to get it or is it an alert saying it has already popped? Example was today (1/7) you alerted EEE pop and it went off a ton quickly

[Jan 9, 2011 9:09:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Well, none of the alerts in chat is telling you to get in. You can do what you want with it… it’s what you are comfortable with. Do you have success with them? Are you used to playing them? Is it a choppy chart you’re familiar with to ignore or is it a chart you’ve seen on scan that’s been waiting to break X price and just did and is now popping.

[Jan 9, 2011 9:09:34 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Many times I ignore pop plays let it pull back and see if it holds support and trends back up – if it does I’ll take it .. if not.. nexttttt. EEE was different though.. we all know this stock from the past 2 weeks – everyone should be familiar with it… if you pulled it up quickly you’d see it was coming off a SOLID base so your risk was where it broke off from..

[Jan 9, 2011 9:09:39 PM EST]        InvestorsLive plus as I always say it’s about all the combinations together. Former runner + perking/pop + red/green + volume

[Jan 9, 2011 9:10:23 PM EST]        InvestorsLive EEE also a ‘channel’ in a sense $1.10 top few times between 10 11 AM

[Jan 9, 2011 9:10:32 PM EST]        InvestorsLive base at $1 between 11-2PM

[Jan 9, 2011 9:10:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive then $1.10 broke .. but I saw vol at whatever before 1.10 break with a perk to the upside

[Jan 9, 2011 9:11:02 PM EST]        InvestorsLive so it could be anticipated as I had said in example above

[Jan 9, 2011 9:11:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive [Jan 7, 2011 2:51:04 PM EST] InvestorsLive EEE pop

[Jan 9, 2011 9:11:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive [Jan 7, 2011 2:58:39 PM EST] InvestorsLive EEE 1.15

[Jan 9, 2011 9:11:35 PM EST]        InvestorsLive [Jan 7, 2011 3:06:40 PM EST] InvestorsLive EEE more 1.24

[Jan 9, 2011 9:11:43 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and u know how it went from there

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it’s just about seeing where prior top and prior lows were … and if they break out or break down .. that’s when the move is going to come in

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:13 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m not really interested in the middle stuff

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I’m interested in a reason to buy with a known risk

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:33 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if you long at $1.10

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:36 PM EST]        InvestorsLive where is your stop?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:12:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if what $ doesn’t hold?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:00 PM EST]        Tommy123          $1

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:18 PM EST]        Xtraderr               do you typically place you stop right at support or below it?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:27 PM EST]        InvestorsLive right Tommy!

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:44 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Xtrader I don’t use stops

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:49 PM EST]        Xtraderr               mental

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive do I place a mental stop?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:13:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive sure

[Jan 9, 2011 9:14:09 PM EST]        InvestorsLive Alright last question

[Jan 9, 2011 9:14:11 PM EST]        InvestorsLive QUESTION: How do you know when not to chase a stock-when do u consider something chasing for example Friday KATX I thought chasing was .042 but went to .054?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:14:25 PM EST]        InvestorsLive You don’t – that’s why you let it pull back and buy off support. I’d rather buy a stock higher than chase it up into a breakout. Let it pop if you miss it you miss it.. it pulls back some if it finds a new bottom and it starts to perk off the base then you can always buy off that level – you have a new base support that if it breaks under you can take it off.

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:05 PM EST]        InvestorsLive same idea

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:10 PM EST]        InvestorsLive let the stock do inch inch breakout

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:12 PM EST]        InvestorsLive watch for a pull back

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:20 PM EST]        InvestorsLive if it consolidates and re-breaks higher… then by all means..

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:46 PM EST]        Trader7595         but when you say your looking to enter on pull backs on the low priced stocks like a IMGG what is considerered the correct size pull back for this priced stock on average?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:15:49 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it goes back to that A B C D chart I made in the powerpoint (2nd one OTC based one)

[Jan 9, 2011 9:16:38 PM EST]        InvestorsLive wait for .15 test.. if it holds.. good accumulation spot around .15

[Jan 9, 2011 9:17:01 PM EST]        Trader7595         so you want a large pull back

[Jan 9, 2011 9:17:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive correct

[Jan 9, 2011 9:17:59 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and re-test towards highs.. I’d rather buy it higher

[Jan 9, 2011 9:18:01 PM EST]        InvestorsLive than guess at a bottom

[Jan 9, 2011 9:18:06 PM EST]        InvestorsLive or chase a breakout

[Jan 9, 2011 9:18:40 PM EST]        InvestorsLive take STVI for example

[Jan 9, 2011 9:20:47 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s my point above

[Jan 9, 2011 9:21:03 PM EST]        InvestorsLive than have better lower entry… and be WAY too early

[Jan 9, 2011 9:21:15 PM EST]        InvestorsLive make sense on that example?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:21:21 PM EST]        shawn2011         Yes.

[Jan 9, 2011 9:21:26 PM EST]        InvestorsLive it’s all about risk vs. reward

[Jan 9, 2011 9:24:51 PM EST]        InvestorsLive and when I feel the reward is greater than the risk… and I’m OK with the adverse move.. ie: say I’m early and I lose 30-50% … etc

[Jan 9, 2011 9:24:53 PM EST]        Tommy123          Washouts? people panic selling! is that what it means.

[Jan 9, 2011 9:36:32 PM EST]        Tommy123          I still have that question IL last one at 945 am u look at a 1 minute daily how do u have enough data in 15 minutes to establish support resistance?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:36:36 PM EST]        shawn2011         I think that ‘getting in the head’ of more experienced traders is one of the things that frustrates me b/c after decisions are made, they usually seem obvious- question is what led to that decision, so ya these links are awesome in going step to step for less experienced traders like myself.

[Jan 9, 2011 9:37:14 PM EST]        abulloch               any comments on chart of ATTD – hototc’s latest pump (paid $45,000 for a week’s pumping, btw)?

[Jan 9, 2011 9:38:30 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I use chart right away

[Jan 9, 2011 9:38:42 PM EST]        InvestorsLive I don’t use chart at 9:45 for a breakout of a mid day channel

[Jan 9, 2011 9:38:54 PM EST]        InvestorsLive that’s why you do scans at night
